In Bloom: Cherry Blossoms Open in DC
The annual
National Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off this past weekend in Washington DC, and runs through April 12. It marks the 96th anniversary of Tokyo's gift of 3,000 cherry trees to the capital city. Cherry blossom festivals are held all over Japan, and the flower heralds Spring, represents love, and
illustrates a basic tenet of Japanese philosophy: perfection is fleeting (love, too).

I love cherry blossom time! The title basin is so beautiful when theses begin to
come out. And everyone seems to be a lot happier too.
2So pretty.
3They've been blooming for about two weeks here in Portland. They're so pretty, it's like the official start of spring!
4I love DC in the spring time!
5I loved being in DC when that 48 hour period when the petals fell off the trees. It was like pink snow.
6I love when the cherry blossom trees bloom. There are some in Baltimore and they are really beautiful.
