Attention college football fans. Your lawmakers are listening to you!
The Senate will soon review how college football picks the country's number one team each year.
In case you've been living under a rock, the NCAA doesn't support a playoff system. Instead polls and computer models rank teams. The top two play each other for the BCS championship. The other ranked teams play in bowl games. Certain conferences get automatic bids to the bowl games, which prove to be major money making events for the schools.
In a statement, the subcommittee on antitrust said that the current BCS system "leaves nearly half of all the teams in college football at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to qualifying for the millions of dollars paid out every year."

1i feel like its a little ridiculous that the senate needs to step in, but i'm really glad something is being done about this.

3I'm with cassedy. I don't really feel this is something that needs to be legislated, but the current system needs revamping.

6This absolutely should not be legislated, however the system must change. The BCS is a joke, and isn't an accurate measure of the best in college football.
7This is one of the few instances where I am solidly on the side of "Don't they have better things to do, like fixing the economy?" The system needs to be fixed but really? Right now?
8I'm torn, on one side I am a Michigan fan, and being football royalty means we control the BCS most of the time and I would not want to give up my crown in democracy. On the other hand, I live playoffs and bowl games are pretty lame most of the time, so a playoff would be nice - decisions, decisions!

The government was not designed to legislate everything. This is a job for the NCAA to solve.Personally, I want a playoff system, but I don't want the government to impliment one for me.

14I'm with UnDave here. It needs to be fixed and playoffs should be implemented, but by the NCAA and not the Gov't.
