President Obama has his hands full with the economy, Iraq, Afghanistan, and healthcare reform. Now, Denmark is piling a task on his to-do list. The Scandinavian country's minister for climate and energy said Obama must push through laws fighting global warming ASAP. If Congress manages to pass, say, a cap-and-trade law, the US would set a powerful example for developing countries.

International leaders will meet in Copenhagen this December with the intention of creating an alternative to the Kyoto agreement, a treaty George W. Bush refused to sign. Everybody's looking to Obama to signal that he will take on global warming, unlike his predecessor.
Would you like to see comprehensive environmental legislation passed by the end of the year?

I'd like to see some major planning and resources go towards solar, wind and tide energy. Its crazy we're still using oil when there's endless energy available for everyone and I believe its clean energy.
1"Everybody's looking to Obama to signal that he will take on global warming, unlike his predecessor"
COMPLETELY false statment on CS's part.
2Passed by the end of the year? Yes. Top of the list right now at the expense of everything else? Maybe not.
But what's refreshing for me about Obama's approach is that he sees the economy, national security, the environment and healthcare as all interrelated and rather than address things one at a time, he seems like he's looking for more integrated solutions to all of these things.
3No, it's not a "top of the list" item right now.
I like floppy's idea of more planning and resources going towards solar, wind and tide energy.
4I wonder why the word tax never appears in this article.
5"Should Obama Put Global Warming at the Top of His List?"
No.
6I don't think it should be on his "list" at all.
agree Carrie Sue.
Plus, in my part of the world we are praying for a little warming!!!
7me 2 pam!
8Pretty far north, are you?
9I am much more concerned with the state of the economy and the wars.
10This, like his proposal to socialize healthcare, should wait until our economy is more stable - Which should be some time after my great grandchildren are born.
11Carrie Sue, not that far north - DC area but it has been ridiculous-very very cold.
12Top of the list– no, but it should be on there somewhere
13Let's prove that it exists and is man made before we commit valuable resources to this.
14Hey, it is the economy stupid.
15oops wrong Democrat president
16Undave very well articulated! We don't have money to throw around without real proof.
and
it is the "economy stupid"
17Oh my goodness, im as anti-pollution as the next good democrat, but really? first hillary decides that climate change takes precedence over human rights in china and now denmark wants us to set aside our woes over global warming. lets get people some jobs first and then have enviroment discussion
18Personally, I think it's something that cannot wait in any country and should have been done already. It's too late already and once you're done solving the economic crisis, there's probably always something more important for people than saving the planet for future generation. it's just annoying that just like saving money, people don't care for things that don't bring them immediate profit or benefits...
19ummm i feel strongly that reporters disappearing because they disagree with the government or future generations being caught the homeless/welfare cycle is far more important to our immediate future. environment pollution is definitely an issue but we are in the biggest economic downturn in 25 years plus we are in a war, how many crisises need to happen before people realize that the "global warming crisis" isnt really a crisis at all?
