I'm sure everybody knows who I'd pick. It makes me happy that Ron Paul is near the top of the list, but it's a shame he's tied with Palin and bested by Jindal.

I picked Mitt Romney. He was my pick last time, and I hope he runs again.

My gut reaction is Romney, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Pawlenty pick up steam in the upcoming years, either.

I'm curious to see how this poll goes. The CPAC poll results are interesting, but not surprising.

If Palin had been there she would have been a rock star. She is well liked despite what the left would have you believe. Republicans do not have a candidate that can garner the celebrity status Obama has. Though being hip and cool won't matter much if people suffer over the next 4 years. A fiscal conservative like Romney just may trump a great speaker if that happens. The 2010 elections are going to be very interesting.

That's interesting splork, because even among conservatives, I find that Palin isn't that well-liked. Most of the conservatives I know think she is fine on a personal level, is pretty, and is good at giving speeches, but wouldn't be a good choice to govern the country. I guess perception all depends on who you know.

I picked Mitt, he was my guy during the election. Hopefully Jim DeMint will decide to run in 2012. I've got high hopes for Mr. DeMint.

And Piper, I've often wondered that about Boehner, as well. He and his staff claim that he golfs a lot, but I want to know where he's golfing in Ohio/D.C. during the winter.

Haus - I'd give Obama another month. If his "Stimulus" plan fails like the ecconomists believe it will, then just about anyone we put in the GOP slot will win. If Obama is able to spin this on Bush, and claim that no amount of spending could save us (Which is true, but we didn't need to spend 1+ trillion to figure that out), then he still has a fighting chance.

They mada a mistake not picking Mitt last time, and I wager they'll make the same mistake next time.

Janneth, I have often wondered that, particularly because Romney was the popular choice among conservatives in the political world (at least from my perspective). I don't know if religion played into it, though. I know that religion was a big part of what kept Romney's father from advancing his political career many years ago.

I think he religion was the factor. I don't think anyone will admit to it but I do believe that was what held him back. I admire him for not changing though.

I truly think the GOP would have won if we would have picked him, esp with the economy imploding like it did. We need someone with the business knowledge to get us out of this and neither candidate had that this last go around!

It's weird how it doesn't seem to be taboo at all to make fun of mormons, when derogatory comments about other religions or cultures are very un-PC.

I picked Newt. He's not exactly the new face the Republicans seem to want, but he's a real conservative. There are no 1990's videos decrying the policies of Reagan like Mitt has. Mitt is slick, and has good delivery. He probably has more style compared to his substance than BHO has, but I'm not on board yet. Incidentally, if he had won the Republican nomination last year, I think he would have won. He would have been seen as stronger on the economy than BHO.

I suspect that the ticket will end up with either Jindal or Palin on it. It is even possible, but not likely that they both could be on that Republican ticket.

I think picking Palin would be handing the Democrats an easy win, or Jindal for that matter who will come off as an Obama replica.

Romney's definitely the Republican parties best chance. I really like Gingrich and Palin, but we'd get further with Romney, and what we really need right now is someone who can pull everyone together.

People already have their minds set where Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich are concerned.

First of all, I am a straight ticket Republican voter but if Ron Paul were the Republican nominee I wouldn't vote. For the last election I would have preferred Mitt to McCain but early on I would have preferred Ruby, he just didn't understand that he needed to work for the nomination.
I love Sarah Palin but I'm afraid that since she has been branded an idiot by the media she'd have a hard time winning. She's not an idiot at all and the only reason the media went after her so hard is because she was a force they needed to knock down. Unfortunately the media being what they are today she would have a steep up hill climb.
Bobby Jindal is probably my first choice out of those options but it's really too early to have any clue right now.
