The controversy about the German cashier is really, really stupid. I can see being upset if she was fired when she didn't actually steal the money, but to make it an issue about capitalism? How ridiculous and totally irrelevant.
I am sure there is more to the story than this. How much "shrinkage" has the store suffer over the last few years. I personally know a supermarket owner in Ireland went out of business because a trusted employee was switching out the register tape, every evening she covered the store for her employers, and then switched the original tape back. The owners knew they were being "robbed", but not by whom, nor how. This cashier was also someone who worked there for years, and had the complete trust of the owners. They had hidden cameras put in the store, and that was how the lady was caught, but by then it was too late, and they lost their business.
trading two kids for a bird and 175 buckaroos? are you kidding me? like first off they arent even her kids. secondly the other family who accepted offer should have known better than to accept such an offer. Poor kids, I hope they don't end up in a more horrible situation than what they have already been through.
i'd rather have kids than a cockatoo.
That first story made me think of something I just saw in the paper about a guy who posed as a "Porn Inspector" from the "age verification unit." He went to a bunch of adult stores and tried to confiscate porn so he could determine if the actresses were of age.
