Hugh Jackman briefly stopped by Oprah's post-Oscar special yesterday to chat about his first time hosting the big show, and when asked about his nerves before game time, he revealed that it was a secret gesture he shared with his wife — who was sitting in the sixth row — that gave him the confidence to remain cool, calm, and collected.
He seemed pretty assured to me, so clearly their non-verbal communication worked, but their connection got me thinking so I have to ask: Do you have a secret mode of communication in your relationship? If so, tell us about it!

my husband and I both know eachothers looks, and can read them accurately. we also know sign language, and on occasion will use popular movie/tv quotes to get our point across.
ex. If we were at a party, and i tasted something that was nasty and did not want him to go through the same agony of chewing and swallowing it, i will say "unauthorized cinnamon" which is the title of a Deadwood episode, in it someone puts cinnamon in some peaches and the guy has an allergic reaction to it. as of yet, no one has ever caught onto its meaning, they just give me a look like "what did she just say?" but my hubby knows exactly what i mean...and always smiles.
1My boyfriend and I kind of have facial expressions that aren't too obvious to other people but he and I get it...
2The bf and I communicate through body language and facial expressions when in an unwanted social situation. I can always tell when he's not having fun (or vice versa) and we have to relocate.
3YES, we use ## as a kind of replacement for "I love you" or "XO". long story of how it got started, but its nice if we email each other at work
4We LITERALLY have a language all of our own. It's like pig latin... only not.
5My man and I use the ASL sign for "I Love You." While I love how he'll do this in front of anyone, the best part is how often we subtly work in the hand sign without anyone else knowing.
A level of communication internal to one's relationship that's exhibited externally to the world is a very seductive thing.
