Obamas Host First State Dinner
Today
President Obama and US governors will get down to business, mapping out how the $787 billion economic stimulus will be spent, but last night the first couple welcomed them into the White House for the first black-tie affair.
Before the party dined on favorite dishes of the president (scallops) and first family (huckleberry cobbler), Obama toasted the nation's governors, saying, "to the certain hope that despite our current travails, that we will all emerge more prosperous and more unified than we were before."

Scallops are one of my favorites, too!
Countdown to someone complaining about the expense of a state dinner given the state of the economy in 3...2...
1Food sounds awful - I wish I could pull off a necklace-thing like that, but after 15 minutes my neck would be so uncomfortable I'd be ripping the pearls off.
2hah truesong... i was thinking the exact same thing
3wow she looked great!
4Michelle looks gorgeous!
5Michelle's smile makes this picture.
6Thank you, heaven! SOMEONE finally made Michelle wear a dress which fits and flatters. Finally!
7They are BOTH movie star attractive.
8I think there can be bi-partisan support on this one: DAYUM MICHELLE!!!
9I love her dress, she looks nice as everyone.
10I could care less what they ate.

12Michelle looks gorgeous. So do Arnold and Maria, and I love the pic of Michelle talking with Arnold. But this seemed like a night where Michelle really shined.
I'm not sure people will complain about the money spent on this one. I mean this is a traditional, historical thing that the President does. Besides, isn't this one of the things that is budgeted for?
13Michelle looks stunning. The gown flatters her every inch and she just looks amazing. Not overly done up, just perfect!
14Michelle does look gorgeous!!!! And Barack looks very handsome
. I can't tell if
Michelle actually cut her hair or it's just a visual, but it looks great here.
15True Song, seriously cut it out. and you know what i mean.
16I love what Michelle is wearing. They both look great.
17TrueSong I love that emoticon!

19Wow. That dress is fantastic!
20Michelle looks fabulous!
21Now that is the dress Michelle should have worn inauguration night.
22What a dress! Michelle looked so beautiful, and watching the two of them together always make me happy. They're real, unlike many celeb couples who are in it for the PR.
23The fit of the dress is actually nice on her. But damn, enough with the prom glitter already.
24And look how people are making assumptions and being proved wrong. How silly do they look
hain, I thought the exact same thing!
25Glitter..sequence...its all in right now!
26Mrs O looks Fantastic!
27OMG Michelle is looking Fab! This is the best I've ever seen her.. she is truely glowing next to her man!
28I love Michelle Obama... I just think she is so classy. Shes got the brains behind the beauty too.
29They look like movie stars? I'll leave Michelle alone for the time being, but about the only movie he could have starred in would have been Mad: The Movie, with him in the role of Alfred E. "What, me worry" Newman.
30What about the people who sneaked by the security and went to the party. Shows how easy it is to get into the whitehouse. Come on ppl we can do better.....
