Last week a British train station placed a ban on kissing in an effort to ease congestion. Spokespeople for the Warrington Bank Quay station claim that since the drop-off area is so small, the main purpose of this kissing ban is to speed up the travel process, but other stations feel differently since train stations are often considered romantic places where fond farewells take place.

You've mentioned before that a little PDA goes a long way, and I agree. If you had the opportunity to instate a ban similar to this one, what public area would you designate a make-out-free zone?

anywhere near me. Pecks are one thing. But if I'm walking somewhere and a couple is there devouring each other, when I walk by I don't want to feel like I was just in a threesome.
1The small parking area in front of my husband's old job was designated a "kiss and drop" lot. I loved using that when I sometimes took him to work. Full out tongue-wagging make out is not cool in those situations, but a little nuzzle and peck seem fine to me.
2I don't care about kissing at all. If a couple wants to be what I consider overly affectionate in public, fine.
3Movies...
4Oh please! I swear people are taking away their own rights one by one when they say people can't do something. When will it stop?
5As long as they aren't having a complete make out and grab session in front of me I could careless, I generally only give my man pecks in public because I find it to be the most respectable way of showing affection in public, if you show any at all.
6Kiss on young lovers!
7The only time it irks me are if little kids are around, but otherwise I do enjoy deep passionate kisses with my man and don't care what grownups see.
Kissing ban. What's next? Can't hold hands in public?
8so stupid
9makeouts, to me, are not necessary in public (smacks, take note, it grosses most people out)
but a peck or series of small kisses is fine!
Oh give me a break...
10i def dont mind a little pda anywhere but those long makeout sessions in public really gross me out. get a room people!! i agree with aka daria.. as long as its not near me im fine. and please, not on crowded subways ever!! its claustrophobic enough with all the people jammed in a tiny car lol
11I'm not standing in the middle of the sidewalk with a sign saying "Look at me". No one is required to stand and watch. I just think isn't silly to have a ban in place, because once its there its too easy for other things to get banned.
Oh, and skigirl, I never said I had tongue out, licking each other's faces like the porn-stars do kisses. Deep passionate kisses can be done with you have your arms around each other in a loving way that is a step beyond the standard peck-kiss.
12CORRECTION: I meant I think it IS silly to have a ban in place. Oopsie, typing too fast this morning,ha.
13Lol, this is just a jokey reminder, kissing isn't actually banned but people are holding up trains by spending ages kissing...it's just a reminder to hurry up and get on the train. How would you feel if your train was delayed because some inconsiderates were snogging, completely oblivious? (althought if I had my way trains would always leave on time, regardless of whether all the passengers were on...)
14This is dumb. If my guy were leaving for a really long time I wouldn't NOT kiss him goodbye just because of some stupid rule.
15Definitely the SUBWAY. It's so gross to be party to people sucking face and feeling each other up when you're sharing two feet of space. I don't know how you'd enforce it though...
16That's ridiculous. I kiss my husband goodbye every day when I drop him off at work and its just a quick peck! Doesn't take more than a second and I think most people are like that. No need to ban just for the one or two totally gross PDA couples.
17I think that people get too upset over PDA. However, I would by no means mind if people were a little less touchy during certain church services...
18Stupid ban. I tearfully kissed my husband a dozen times at the airport when we were doing a long-distance relationship. I've seen the same thing occur between a couple in Germany at a train station. Their faces were swollen with tears and they periodically kept kissing each other. Only the girl had a suitcase. At this time, German universities just got out for the summer and she was probably heading back home to stay with her family while her guy lived in that city. Sorry but if 30 seconds of kissing couple blockage was all it took for you to miss your train, you didn't arrive early enough at the station. It is commonly understood that any port of travel especially major ones will be busy and congested. Like the airport, you arrive early enough to accommodate any time-constraint issues (bathroom and food runs, security checks, long ticket lines, etc) you may encounter.
19I say kiss away. It doesn't bother me to see 2 people in love. To each his/her own and if 2 people feel like being affectionate in public then more power to them.
20I wouldn't have a ban anywhere. I don't see the problem with PDA. And it's really unfair to people who aren't going to see each other for a really long time. I actually think it's kind of cute to see people like that.
21Public transport. I'm very fond of PDA, but I never do it when theres twenty or more people around me and we're elbow to elbow.
22Theres a difference between having a snog in a park, which is fantastic and non offensive, and sucking face on a bus where you're disturbing everyone around you.
