President Obama met with America's mayors today, promising to "call them out" if they spend stimulus money in a wasteful way.

The president told the Conference of US Mayors that he needed unprecedented responsibility and accountability. He said:
If a federal agency proposes a project that will waste that money, I will not hesitate to call them out on it, and put a stop to it. But I want everyone here to be on notice that if a local government does the same — I will call them out on it as well, and use the full power of my office and our administration to stop it.
More than 60 of the nation's municipal leaders are in Washington right now, meeting with national leaders and White House economic advisers. Stimulus money will soon flood into local governments, so let's hope it finds it's way out of city halls and into the communities.

LOL! Are we trying to say something about the Mayors of Los Angeles and San Francisco?
Well I'm looking forward to walking the city streets and feeling stimulated.
160 mayors? thats all that was there? good luck keeping tabs on all the mayors delegating where this money is going! I cannot imagine how that would even be realistic!
2Well good for him
3You've got to be freaking kidding me. Government has overspent and mispent for decades, and he expects Mayors to suddenly come around and be sensible with this package. Isn't that like asking a chronic overeater to only have two pieces of cake, instead of the whole sheet?
4The greater problem UnDave is that (we) don't expect the Mayors to suddenly come around and be sensible with this package. You know what they say, people will do what is expected of them. It's time to turn the tide.
5Are there any good mayors?
