It may be chilly in Canada, but President Obama's welcome was anything but. Chants of "Yes we can!" seem to follow the US president everywhere he goes, even on his first trip abroad!
Obama will stay north of the border for only a few hours. During his meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Obama likely discussed trade, Afghanistan, the financial crisis, and the environment. Harper told his American guest: "It’s a great honor to have you here on your first visit. We really appreciate it."

I think this is great. The US often treats Canada like an afterthought. Nice that Obama treats the country like a good neighbor.
1ready....
2big fat
treats canada like an afterthought???? umm sure
3Hes going to mexico next, right??
4When is the world/US rockstar-ization of Obama going to end?
5So we get a post on his warm welcome, but not the protests that met him yesterday in his own country? hmmm....
6lol at GS.... I was thinking the same thing.
7and also LOL @ canadiantourism, creating a logon just to put up more videos....
8canadiantourism, huh?
9Would it be bad for me, as a Canadian, to roll my eyes?

10Eek, Citizen...it's border, not boarder.
Typos are the pure evil!
11Ahh, Lildorothy - I'd buy Pedigree after that!
12I know eh? (Oh God - there I got with my Canadianism) I'm not a fan of generic dog food breeds, but Pedigree pulled at my doxie-loving heart strings with this commercial.
I'm kind of sad the canadiantourism post was deleted... makes my post sound incredibly random.
13GS, I just google-newsed "Obama Canada Protest" and I see nothing about protests, though plenty about a warm welcome and how it contrasts with the gas masks and riot control necessary for when Bush visited.
Are you talking about the one guy with a sign about importing cigarettes?
14So we get a post on his warm welcome, but not the protests that met him yesterday in his own country?
15Still on that one, eh?
16Oops! Skimming.
I saw puh-lenty of coverage of those protests. If by yesterday we're talking Tuesday, the day he signed the stimulus.
17Ease up guys - after 8 years of public presidential appearances in front of carefully chosen audiences, it probably is exciting for someone who isn't used to seeing actual protestors NOT being arrested in the vicinity of the president.
18Stephley, putting it in perspective...
19Obama "carefully" chooses his press corps.
20Yeah, and reporting from the press corps is the onnnnly coverage we get of the White House...
It seems to me you only choose to make negative comments.
21I love those Pedigree commercials. Although the ones talking about pet adoption have made me cry like a baby...
"I saw puh-lenty of coverage of those protests. If by yesterday we're talking Tuesday, the day he signed the stimulus. "
I did, too. Were there other protests aside from those?
22Em - I know what you mean about the adoption commericals - put a sad looking puppy on TV and the waterworks come out. I'm kind of sad the canadatourism post was deleted - makes my Pedigree post appear incredibly random. Oh well, I'm always willing to share the doxie love.
The coverage of the Obama-Harper meeting was amusing and shows how truly apathetic Canadians like to be towards our own political system... Harper really isn't anything to get excited over though (except for those instances where I like to image what kind of animal he most resembles - I've landed on mole because of the beady eyes.)
23True song, I know you arent aiming that "It seems to me you only choose to make negative comments" at me because you are dead wrong.
