The women of The View were chatting yesterday morning about a new Vatican study which states that men and women sin differently. According to the research, men are most prone to lust, gluttony, and sloth, while women are more prone to pride, envy, and anger. These findings actually make sense to me, but since we've probably experienced all of these sins once or twice before, tell me, which do you think is the worst sin of all?

i'd love a breakdown of these because i find some of them weird and hard to concieve as sins
1Greed, no question. I don't agree with the whole men are more prone to/women are more prone to... because out of the 'sins', one that i occasionally partake in is gluttony... yes, I 'eat too much/soon/wastefully'... (but don't we all at times? that's why i don't get it... we're human, we all experience these once in awhile) I don't know, maybe it's because I'm not a Christian... whatever.
2I don't believe these as sins, I'm not religious in any way, and I think that these are more bad habits.
I'd say that pride may be a little off. I find more men guilty of this.
Anyway, if I had to rank, I'd say my top three as "bad" would be:
1. Envy - a toxic feeling, one that destroys people.
2. Pride- You're not that special, in reality.
3. Greed- Destroyed my family in regards to wealth. More money, more problems.
I think that wrath is common, so is sloth, so is lust, and so is gluttony. They are definitely not sins.
I'd say that the statements about men and women doing/feeling different ways is probably true, but it also depends on personality.
For my boyfriend it's: pride, greed, gluttony.
For me, it's: Envy, wrath and greed.
It can swing either way.
3I consider all of them equal... if you let them get to such a severe degree where they start taking over your life. They aren't called the seven deadly sins for nothing.
4Pride. It's the root of most of those.
5I was always taught that all sins are equal in severity in God's eyes. So I'd say they're all equal (though not a "deadly sin," murder and/or molestation would seem to be the worst sins of them all).
6Pride. Definitely.
7Pride.. which isn't good because I've got lots of it. Ha.
8In my opinion, they're all equally bad. As sins, they all lead to Hell.
9When will the gender wars end? Men and women sin differently? These sins are just as equally bad, and can lead to death either way. Don't fool yourself. But supposedly pride was the first sin, but regardless, sin is sin and it will cause death. After all: "The Wages of Sin is Death." Happy camping kids.
10Wrath out of control can lead to harming someone else. Other than that- all of these can hurt someone else to some degree I suppose.
11Wrath, greed, and envy are the worst to me.
12I agree with omilawd, pride is the root of the others. They're all bad, but if I had to mark one as the worst, it would be pride because it can lead to the other sins.
13I said greed.
Because of it, our economy is in it's worst shape ever, and innocent taxpaying people just trying to make ends meet are having to pick up the tab for the greedy, not just shady mortgage lenders and Ponzi schemers, but even those homeowners who wanted more house than they could afford. They have some responsibility as well.
I'm pissed that because I am responsible with my finances, I have to bail out those that were unresponsible and/or greedy.
14*irresponsible
Wow, sugar, where is that edit feature? It can't be that hard to put one on this site!
15Greed. I think people who screw others over just for material things such as money is beyond horrible.
16I feel the evils of greed can be seen all around us right now. From CEOs of failing banks giving themselves huge bonuses to desolate places where you see the greed of a government hoarding money and resources to detriment of their own citizens who are starving and dying right on their door step. It's all disgusting and that's why I picked that one, but let's not kid ourselves in thinking one isn't as bad as the other one.
17Greed, right up there with envy and wrath.
18Pride can actually serve as the catalyst to all of the sins; so, yeah, Pride is the worst one.
19I think sloth is the worst... People who do absolutly nothing and are lazy beyong belief are wasting their lives- which to me is the biggest sin of all
20maybe bad spelling should be up there... oops!
21Wrath.
22envy.
23Greed - seems to me that it's part of the other "deadly" sins, too.
24lust, because of pedophiles
25They are all equal in my book.
26probably greed or anger - both can result in violence.
but in reality, I think they're probably all equal, except lust or sloth, hehe.
Like anything though, taken in excess they're ALL damaging.
I think betrayal should be up there.
27As long as they affect others, it's the worst one ever. It does not matter their effect on the individual level because if a trait is affecting only yourself then you allow it to affect yourself which is unforgiven. However, it is much worse if your trait affects others surrounding you or in the same society with you.
28they're all natural feelings that everybody experiences, but i'd have to say i'm least tolerant of lust.
29I think if we're joking and making light of these "deadly" sins then greed because it can bring on outrageous amounts of other problems. Greed could be seen as the root of a lot of the world's problems.
30That's a tough one, but I chose greed. It seems like many of the problems we have today are due to greed. The economy, war, robbery, murder (over or for $/things)- that's just for starters.
31With me... its vanity
In general its Lust... Lust for sex
32lust for people with wandering eyes
lust for money
Lust for someone or thing who is someone elses... i think the word lust should be used in more than the sexual way!
I went with Envy. I don't really care much how people live their lives as long as its what they want. I don't have to agree. But people who are envious of others; jealous of others; tend to be petty and gossipy, and I don't like that at all.
33The worst sin is not listed! The answer should be: “blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.”
31Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. (Matthew 12:31-32 kjv)
28Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. Mark 3:28-29 kjv
