I keep hearing calls to retire the word "douchebag" because it's played out or overused. (Here and here, for example.) Really? So is the word "the," but we still need it! I mean, with people like Nikki Sixx and Spencer Pratt around, we have to have a word that adequately signifies a thing that's really bad for women. I plan on still using it, but if we had to, what's the best replacement for "douchebag"?

1I think douchebag is one of a kind and not over at all. "Pratt" is such a monster douchebag that he's in a category all his own.
I had no idea Nikki Sixx fit into the category. Shows how long it's been since I paid attention to the Crue.

7douchebag is too amazing to be replaced. but i think assface comes in a close second as far as humor in a condescending word..
8The only other words I actually use to refer to someone disagreeable are 'dipsh*t' and 'jackass'. I did hear my boyfriend use the term 'asshat' for the first this weekend, and I thought it was hilarious, esp. coming from him.

15there was an article i read over the summer i think discussing the need to find a linguistically pleasing word to replace douchebag because that is its secret power: it feels good to say even though it may be said too often. the funniest reply i saw to the posting was "twatwaffle" which is also really really fun to say.
