they're not even funny
1Linking Obama and Guantanamo doesn't make sense and Republicans joking about it is especially tasteless.
I'm not sure about the siblings being 'talented'. Enjoying a certain amount of success doesn't mean you're talented: could be connections, money or chutzpah.
When Colorado or Arizona come up with an ocean, call me.
2This one is my favorite
I think they are funny, and yes tongue in cheek funny, but not "tasteless"
3Pretty clever
4Jokes about war crimes and torture pretty much are tasteless by definition.
5Those "valentines" were supposed to be funny? They don't even make sense.
6They make sense if you pay attention to the news...
7In your opinion, which isnt everyones no matter what you think.
8You really believe that it IS in good taste to joke about war crimes and torture?
9I liked that one also cg...
10I agree the guantanamo one doesn't really make sense, but the rest do.
Colorado and Arizona are smart. I'm ready to move, before my taxes go up on EVERYTHING!!!!
Carrie Sue, I pay attention to the news and I don't think connecting Obama, Guantanamo and romance makes sense.
11Guantanamo isn't a place inextricably linked to Obama's name or reputation; Obama doesn't have a reputation as a failed romantic so linking his romantic notions to a prison doesn't make sense... so where's the joke?
Guantanamo has most recently been linked with Obama through the news, though I agree with you guys that it doesn't make as much sense as the others.
The one about chocolate covered pork was pretty good. Did you notice when you hold your cursor over it, it says "approved by Homer Simpson"?
12like i said, its tasteless to you, its tongue in cheek to me. I dont think of it as "its linking romance to torture" more like its linking "obama to Gitmo, as a vacation spot" har har. it might not make sense but its not to be taken seriously.
13Ahhh! Makes much more sense that way, CG. Thanks for clearing it up!
14But CG if Obama wants to close Guantanamo then why would he recommend it as a vacation spot? Wouldn't that have been more appropriate when Bush was office?
15Hmm. Tongue in cheek jokes on torture, rape and child abuse - all tasteless in my book. But that's just me, as you said.
16Lili, I would also think linking it to Bush was funny!!
who said anything about rape, and child abuse?
17Just listing the things I find most unacceptable for jokes-all involve intentionally and intimately violating another person.
18The 'meet without preconditions' valentine is really funny, but I honestly don't even get the Guantanamo one. It just doesn't make sense.
I agree that jokes about rape, torture, or child abuse aren't funny, but I'd add abortion into that group too. Some people here wouldn't...
19I've never heard a funny abortion joke, nor would I want to hang around while someone tried to tell one.
20I'm glad to hear it, Steph.
21"I've never heard a funny abortion joke, nor would I want to hang around while someone tried to tell one."
I guess you posted this because you don't think it's funny:

22Wow. Hypocrite would be putting it nicely.
23This is an article about a right to life group linking a company offering donut choices to choosing abortion.
Nice try Org, and interestingly quick judgment Mich. See you next race thread.
24"Freedom isn't really free, people, it takes thousands and thousands of aborted, dried up and reconstituted fetuses to make a single box of Krispy Kremes, and the American Life League is determined to stop this abomination!"
Nice spin, steph. Clearly no jokes about abortion.
25my my my
26But not as funny as someone being shot in the face.
27I gave Hillary Clinton "valentines" to people last year. They said "Roses are red, violets are blue, I'll raise your taxes and there's nothing you can do."
I think these are funny. =)
28"Speaking of funny gun stuff, 'member when Cheney shot an old man in the face? "
29-Stephley
(Snap)
30If you think they're laughing at abortion, then I guess that is a joke Org. My bad.
I read it as an article focusing on the stupidity of claiming choice at the donut shop equals confirmation that Obama's going to lift all restrictions on abortion.
You always have been a very literal fellow though, so I see your reasoning.
31Anybody who reads it can see that it makes light of dead fetuses. You obviously didn't find the abortion jokes distasteful enough not to post the entire story.
32As I said, if you think the punch-line is abortion, I was wrong.
Just out of curiosity: does your moral outrage extend to the Guantanamo joke that the RNC made? Or is it all used up focusing on abortion and me?
33Steph, the Guantanamo joke doesn't even make sense. I can't even figure out what they're getting at, so it's hard to be outraged. Not that I'm outraged by you at all, I just think it's a little hypocritical.
34Personally, I think it's hypocritical to toss around the word hypocrite then.
You can get dead fetus insults out of an article voicing outrage at a group that hears 'free abortions' in a freedom to choose DONUT ad - but you can't understand a Republican National Committee joke about a center where war crimes may be being committed enough to express any feeling. Hard to imagine in a person as smart as you are.
35I remember the donut posting. I didn't think the article was making a joke about abortion. Maybe some of you need to reread the article.
36The article was taking a jab at Judie Brown at American Life League because of her crazy statement.
KRISPY KREME CELEBRATES OBAMA WITH PRO-ABORTION DOUGHNUTS

Liliblu, I understand that the ultimate point of the article was to mock the ALL, but in doing that, it made light of abortion.
38Nah Liliblu, context ruins the 'gotcha' moment.
39It's more fun to make a literal comparison between the two things, call someone a hypocrite and declare victory.
It pointed out the outrageous of comparing donut choices and abortion. It did not 'make light' of abortion.
40Do I really have to repost this quote?
"Freedom isn't really free, people, it takes thousands and thousands of aborted, dried up and reconstituted fetuses to make a single box of Krispy Kremes"
Sounds like making light of it to me. Agree to disagree...
41Yet the valentine is making like of, let's see, terrorism, torture, and out of no where rape and child abuse? Okay, only one side is stretching here. Must be nice to be so self righteous and never wrong.
42Never being wrong is more than nice it's fantastic!
43Makes light how Mich? Sounds like outrage at the comparison to me. Only if you only read it with the most literal interpretation can you claim it's making light of abortion. The purpose clearly is not to say that abortion is nothing to take seriously - rather, one should take it seriously enough that the donut comparison is insulting.
Unless you didn't get that.
44And again, I am mystified that you are so outraged over the donut-abortion thing, but just not clear enough on a Guantanamo valentine...
45"The purpose clearly is not to say that abortion is nothing to take seriously - rather, one should take it seriously enough that the donut comparison is insulting."
Exactly Steph.
46I just can't fly of the handle automatically when I see the word 'Guantanamo'. To me the valentine doesn't even imply anything about torture. If you can show me how it does (or how it has any point at all), then I'll reconsider.
47As far as I'm concerned, you can't say something about dead babies in donuts and have the overall piece be funny, even if it wasn't specifically trying to say "dead babies are funny". If you don't see that, I can't make you.
You don't see a connection between the word Guantanamo and torture? I thought you followed the news, so that surprises me. Again, my bad - and that's twice in one thread!
48It sounds as if you read that valentine as:
"________town is romantic this time of year" - which makes no sense at all.
There's obviously a connection, but they're not synonymous. Please explain to me what this valentine is saying about torture.
Aborted human fetuses are not a good tool for humor. Obviously you disagree. I think it's time to move on.
49I'd love to know what else Guantanamo calls to mind in any modern day American. But not now.
50I'm taking my hypocritical, pro-choice but child adopting, torture-hating, single-mom self home.
Good night.
