Is crazy the new black? Speculation has surrounded Joaquin Phoenix for some time. Is his hobo-rapper-gone-Charles-Manson act just that — an act a la Andy Kaufman's performance art — or has he lost it completely? His appearance on last night's Late Night With David Letterman (the place where all new crazies make their debut?) recalls a certain evening in 1987 when Crispin Glover decided to demonstrate his high kick a little too close to Letterman's face. Watching these two videos side-by-side, and assuming neither actor was acting (or even if they were!), who's crazier?

Although I think Joaquin is nutting up on us all, Crispin has always had a bit of crazy so he wins my vote.
1I don't really get why the act for Joaquin? What's the point?
2I think Joaquin has been walking down the crazy path for some time now. There are other red carpet interviews from a premiere where he asks if something is in his hair. This just brought his craziness front and center.
3uh... are you serious? Crispin Glover is wearing a ratty old wig in that clip and acting like a loon -- he's very obviously acting. If you've ever heard the guy speak he's a very articulate man.
4For some reason the Joaquin Phoenix clip doesn't work in my "country or domain," but I still picked him because anyone who intentionally chooses to look like that is insane.
5Crispin been crazy longer so he got my vote but both of their elevators don't go to the top floor.
