That Wonkette article is awesome, sad and enraging, but totally awesome.
1OMG this is seriously unnecessary. I give him props on trying to be diplomatic cause I'd be like (at least in my head), "F You, it's just a little pot. I didn't shoot anyone."
Would people be happier if he picked up a pack of ciggs next time? Hey, it might hurt his ability to swim, but who cares it's legal
.
2This Phelps thing has been blown way out of proportion, IMO. Now, I am in no way a pot smoker or supporter, but why is he being held to such a high standard? Unless it was a performance enhancement drug (which I doubt this is) people should drop it!
We don't hold the USA men's basketball team to this standard, and we all know they are not exactly the picture for a drug free America.
3I just don't understand why they filmed the video in a gym. It's hilarious to see the woman on the stairmaster going up and down in the background.
4I'm not able to watch the video, so perhaps someone can fill me in...why in heavens name is he appologizing to CHINA?
5Never mind - just answered my own question (and do I feel silly
)
6To whom else does he owe an apology? It's kinda sad at this point.
7Carrie Sue: He broke an Olympic record there and made history as the athlete with the most Olympic Gold's ever. It still doesn't make any sense to me
.
8I had not idea they used to be that superficially selective with welfare or that it was initially called a "safety net" program. The article's very interesting. I hope many people get the chance to pop overand read it.
9Well, it occured to me that he might have used the drug to enhance his abilities? But then, I have absolutely no knowledge of drugs...so I didn't want to seem stupid
10I think the apology has something to do with sponsors in China.
11cmon, why is he apologizing? No Need. Did they apologize to us for fudging the opening ceremonies? using a little girl to lipsynch because she was more attractive? lying about the ages of the gymnasts? No....so Dolphin boy, dont apologize to them, they dont deserve it.
12The 'welfare' and bank ceos articles are really enlightening, and incredibly discouraging.
13"dont apologize to them, they dont deserve it. "
Tit for tat, eh?!
14Did china apologize to the world for using underage gymnasts, umm i think not. So why should Michael apologise to them?
15Steph, the "Welfare" vs. "Safety Net" article reminded me of a class I had in college, Poverty, Affluence,& Families. I remember that not only was welfare limited to widowed white women; but the amount of support they were given was just enough to survive. The women were often encouraged to remarry.
16Who cares about Michael's apology anyway. He's a drug user. Even if it was once he's still one. Michael knew better than to do what he did, he's an adult.
17Poor Phelps. I don't know why anyone cares at all. It's documented that many of our former presidents and politicians, including our current president, smoked marijuana. Oh wait but it's wrong for Michael Phelps. Because he's a role model. Oh okay. Got it.
18Oh and what I meant by documented before anyone kills me is that they admitted to it themselves.

Just enough to survive? How horrible!
