We all know that neither hormonal birth control nor condoms are 100 percent effective at preventing pregnancy. Since accidents can happen, we should all be grateful to have access to Plan B, otherwise known as emergency contraception. While it should not be used as a sole form of birth control, it's on the market for a reason. So tell me, have you ever had to rely on Plan B after a mishap in the bedroom?

once...i was on antibiotics for tonselitis and because of the antibiotics i knew my pill wouldn't be effective...and the condom broke so we took Plan B
1I only took it once and it was after my ex, in his drunken stupor, said to me, "We're going to have a baby"
I freaked. He paid for the dosage though.
2Just once, with my @sshat ex. The condom broke and I was in my off week with my BC pills, so just to be sure I took Plan B- I was always very paranoid about birth control, I know too many people who have oops babies with people they barely know.
3My roommate at the time had just told me she was pregnant and when I asked her why she hadnt gone to get Plan B she said "it was on my to-do list" I was like, "Youre 19 years old! It should have been the ONLY thing on your to-do list!!"
I'm 20 and I've never had sex so... no. I've been on birth control since I was 15 though because I get horrid ovarian and uterine cysts and have endometriosis... I'm just not interested in sex... probably because many of my friends were irresponsible with it when they were young and I want it to be 'perfect'... oh well.

Yes. Once. Stupid condom broke. I know it's not the abortion pill but I felt like it was.
Scary stuff
5I had to take it years ago, before you could just go and buy it from a pharmacy (here in California, I'm not sure of the laws in other states). I had to go to the Planned Parenthood and they were horrible and mean! At least I didn't have to pay for it.
6I've never had to take it, but if the situation came up then I would take it.
7Planned Parenthood being horrible and mean? I find that hard to believe, the worst I've seen when I was there is that they can be short with people when it's really busy.
I've had to take it 3 times from condoms slipping off or breaking. The people at Planned Parenthood were totally professional about it, maybe not the kindest bedside manner, but I appreciate them being up front and matter of fact with me. The side effects suck so hard, I totally don't buy the argument that people would use this as regular birth control. I haven't had to use it since it became legal without a prescription, but I feel so much more in control of my body knowing that it's an option for me.
8Twice. Condoms broke.
9once on my first time, i was one and stupid and didn't use protection. horrible experience

11No,Never.
12I took it once in college after sleeping with a guy and he took the condom off without me knowing it. So i got plan B from Planned Parenthood just to be safe. I didn't have any of the horrible side effects that are supposed to come along with it. I was totally fine and no babies yet for me!
13Sorry to hear that cjmara
I had a pleasant experience at Planned Parenthood. They were kind
and professional about it, which was a big worry for me--being judged for an honest mistake. Maybe it's to do with the fact it wasn't so crowded, though.
14i used it once when i went to the clinic to get my next depo shot & they told me i was a week late so i hadn't been protected the night before when i had sex. i freaked out & they gave me plan B.
now whenever i go to planned parenthood for birth control refills or just regular well woman checks they ask me if i want an extra plan B to keep at home & i always take it so that if i need it, i don't even have to go to the pharmacy to get it. just have it on hand in case the need comes up.
15i've had 2 friends to use it... one needed it, the other paranoid... she had been on yaz and hadn't even missed a period.... she said when explained to the pharmacists they both laughed at her. I bet 99% of y'all don't know show birth controll pills can be used as a morning after pill just be taking an excess dosage, but be sure to talk to you doctor to confirm if your brand can be used this way. http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/ecinfo.htm us a link for more info.
16Yeah, I have. It was during one month where I was taking a different BC sporadically, because it made me feel like absolute crap. So, one day after my BF and I had sex, I was SO freaked out, and I immediately got Plan B at the store for like 40 bucks -- which oddly enough, made me very dizzy, as it said it might. A day later, I got my period. Figures.
17Nope, never had to use it. I've been on the pill since I started having sex 6 years ago and I am not paranoid about getting pregnant because I take my pill religiously. I would take plan B if I needed to though.
18I've used it one. I had just started taking the pill (had been on it for two days), and the condom broke. My doctor said it wasn't necessary to take Plan B because the pill would already be working and therefore it would be a waste of $20. My response: "I'd rather waste $20 now to be sure, and not waste thousands of dollars on diapers later".
19I've taken it 3 times. The last time I took it (recently) it cost $55 at Wal-Mart! Good motivation for me not to forget my regular pill.
20Twice. Once I was on antibiotics which made the pill ineffective and the condom slipped off, (he was a very small fellow. Hung like a roll of quarters, I'm afraid... really nice, though? No, not even. He was a jacka$s) and three years later, I'd gone off the pill and the condom broke. I didn't realize condoms actually break outside of soap operas!
21Antibiotics don't make the pill ineffective. Some make it LESS effective but there are new studies that show the only drug that has any effect on birth control is a drug that is used to treat TB. You girls should research this topic. I just went to seminar and they included the topic in the discussion. Very interesting.
22Once...I think I was over-paranoid though.
23My SIL is a pharmacist, she says that lots of younger people come into her store asking for Plan B and freak out that its 50 bucks a pop. she also said she sees many arguements between frantic girl and lackadaisical guys about who is paying what percentage.
24Yep.
25CaterpillarG- I believe that completely. Let's just say that it usually is the girl who ends up paying. And it IS expensive.
26No I haven't; I haven't had sex, though I'm on BC for medical reasons. I hope I don't ever have to use Plan B either; having to flood my body with hormones like that scares me.
27What amuses me is I executed plan B in front of a man who is unfaithful to his wife (I did not know at the time) and he pretended to care. What a joke?
28I'm in a similar situation with skigurl. I had just finished my antibiotics about a day or two before though and wasn't sure how long it would take for them to leave my body and for my birth control to be effective again. I actually didn't think it was necessary, but my partner wanted to feel safer, which I was fine with.
29No, but there are some times that it would have been the responsible thing to do. Guess I was lucky.
I'm surprised by how many people have taken it!
30Nope not yet.
31Never have but totally would if the situation called for it.
32Never had to.
33Yes, once. It was in college and my boyfriend, now husband, spilled the contents of the condom all over me lol. I guess I was a bit paranoid, but neither of us could have handled a pregnancy back then.
34I definitely knew you can take an excess dose of your BC to act as the "morning after pill" -- but, who the hell has an extra pack or enough pills in some cases to do that? What a waste of 52 bucks! Not like Plan B isn't a waste of 40+...but geez. For some reason I trust 1 pill of hormones than 28 pills taken in one shot of hormones...
35Yes, when I was younger and we had a condom slip. It happened on a Friday and we had to wait until Monday to get it, nice eh? It was worried but everything turned out ok, we went to a Planned Parenthood because in Utah there is no other option. They were pretty decent to me and I've always wanted to go volunteer there because of my experience and that it's a good establishment.
36I haven't had to but if I had to I would.
37Yeah...Chrstne, your period came because the pills make that happen. Believe me, I know...lol!!
38I believe antibiotics have been proven NOT to interact with oral contraceptives, actually, and also.. Chrstne, if you are referring to taking an 'excess dose' as a whole PACK of pills.. please do NOT do that!!! Some pills can act as a 'morning after' pill if you take ONE (or two in some cases) extra. It can seriously harm you to overdose on these pills.
39Also, there is no planned parenthood where I am from but we have some things like that, and they were EXTREMELY judgemental about it, very condescending and she even told me it 'wasn't necessary' um.. sorry but who are you to tell me that if you don't know the circumstances?
Yes, once, after the first time. Found out it didn't work 3 weeks later when something that wasn't my period came out. Scariest freaking sh*t that ever happened to me. Now I'm never without protection!
40Nope..not so far!
41No, I haven't but I like knowing the option is available in case I ever need it.
42yea, once, I went to a clinic we have here in town, and they were very nice (keeping in mind I look a lot younger than I am). I did have to sit through quite the lecture about how my body worked, and stuff, but not judgemental or anything. Just information I didn't really need.
43Only cost 10 dollars and it was like "If you don't have the money right now you can pay later, or if you really don't have the money at all this time can be free. But if you can pay, it's 10$" I do want to go back there now that I have more money and donate (I did pay the 10$ at the time).
I haven't had to use it yet, but its reassuring to know its there if I ever need it.
44Once, condom problem. Made me feel much better, b/c I totally freak. Better safe than sorry.
45On a few occasions yes. It saved my ass when i ran out of bc :]
46once when a condom broke and I was off the pill for a period of time.
47Sure have. I went off the pill while I was single, as I didn't want to pay for something I wasn't using and I couldn't see myself meeting anyone.
Then, I did meet someone and I couldn't make an appointment to buy my pill for a while. I thought we'd be ok with condoms but one might have slipped, so I took Plan B to stop myself worrying.
I much prefer to have 2 forms of contraceptive for this exact reason.
It's funny, a lot of people think $40 is a lot. Well, yes, it is, and obviously, taking plan b is not something that should be used in place of reliable, ongoing contraceptive, but to be perfectly honest, I feel incredibly lucky that I have access to it. On top of that $40 is nothing for my peace of mind!
48I've had to use it a few times. I'm not at a place in my life where I want a baby right now.
49i haven't had to use it yet, but i would in a heartbeat if need be.
