Many women use hormonal birth control such as the pill, the NuvaRing, or the patch because it's effective, it's easy, it can control or eliminate your period, and it allows you to be more spontaneous when having sex. I know some women, though, who refuse to use it because they don't like how it decreases their sex drive, makes them moody, or makes their breasts grow. Still others just don't like the idea of putting chemicals into their bodies.
So where do you stand? Are you for or against using hormonal birth control?

GUESS
I'm a little more moody, but besides that, I know when I'm going to get my pd. and I've never been pregnant. So it's more than A-OK with me.
1Nope and I don't have any of those side effects..
2for myself, i wouldnt want to go off the pill. i love it. i know exactly when ill be getting my period (once every 3 months - seasonale rocks!). and dont have to worry about fumbling for condoms, creams or foams. i am fortunate enough to have lucked out when i first picked out my pill that it has worked well with my body. no moodiness, drop in libido but it has improved my skin somewhat. while i am slightly concerned with the hormone level, the pill has come a long way since being introduced and id rather not be pregnant and hope for the best.
3I used to be on it, but I went off of it because of all the side effects. My breasts grew (which I hated as I could barely squeeze into a DD bra), the first pill I went on gave me chronic yeast infections so I had to switch to another one, etc...
Now that I've been off of it for a couple of years, though I am thinking of going back on it for medical reasons. I think it's an issue of weighing the pros and cons. If the benefits outweigh the risks and annoyances, then it's definitely a good thing.
4Definitely for.
5I remember when I was first interested in birth control, I was pretty hesitant of putting more hormones in my body. My doctor didn't even blink an eye before saying, "It's not that unnatural, honey. You're just tricking your body into thinking that it's pregnant all the time."
Thanks. Thanks for clearing that up.
6I use both the pill and condoms from time to time and I wouldn't do it any other way. My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years so when we don't use a condom, its nice to have that backup security.
7Defi for, I use nuva ring and i have zero side-effects, I get my period at almost exactly the same time of day every month, there's no warning or pms, i get no tenderness or cramps or anything . . . and my period is only 3 light days. the nuva ring is amazing, oh yeah on top of that it prevents pregnancy hehe
8I use Nuvaring as well. No side effects, no breast enlargement (big thing for me, as I'm already DD), no weight gain. I love knowing when to expect my period.
9Totally for it. I was way worse off when I was not taking the pill. I don't get any side effects except for good ones. No PMS, my breasts did get bigger (yay!!) and I love knowing exactly when I am going to get my period.
10I'm not on the Pill now since I'm not having sex, but I'm considering talking to my doctor about it since my periods are pretty irregular - I NEVER know when to expect it, and it's getting very annoying. I personally wouldn't be bothered by the bigger breasts side effect - I could use it! I barely fill out a B cup. lol. But I don't have any objection to the extra hormones.
11Definitely for. I have been on the pill for 6 years now I think...and before I was on it I would have such painful periods that I was bedridden for at least one of the 4-5 days that I had it. Now I have it for 3-4 days and I know exactly when I'm getting it and I'm not stuck in bed once a month.
12Definitely for. My periods were irregular and now I know exactly when I'm going to get it. I wish I'd experienced the bigger breasts effect though-- haha!
13For it. If I didn't take them now, I'd have some serious issues with my cycle. For a lot of women, BC improves their health, which I'd advocate. Taking it just because, though? ...Eh, whatever you want, but I wouldn't want to put extra hormones in my body if I didn't *have* to [that's just me though, to each her own!]
I haven't had any terribly horrible side effects...though I do hate how my boobs kind of bloated [They were huge already! lol].
14I just stopped taking mine. I love Seasonale, but the generic Quasense is horrible and that's the only one my insurance will pay for.
15I gained seven pounds the first week I started the generic and my boobs got bigger which made all my bras too tight and now I get heartburn every day.
Blech, no thank you. I'd rather just use condoms and spermicide.
Love it! Thank god for zovia...no babies or side effects.
16Funny I have been on it for over 3 years and finally decided I miss my body's natural response. I feel depressed and have very low libido (and trust me- that was never an issue before the pill). I know the pill is causing issues because during the 3 years I decided to go off for a few months and felt SO good. Then I met my BF and went back on it- back to the same issues. I need another option - I am really careful about not getting pregnant so I am torn.
17I am on BC, and won't go off until I want a baby. It did nothing but improve my periods, my mood, pretty much everything. I'm a disaster when I am not on BC.
18I was on the pill for about 6 months last year and I lost all sex drive, which is no good since im in a long term relationship. i couldnt do it, i was just so down all the time. so i went off it, I just wish there was something easy without messing up my body!
19I resisted HBC for a long time; I didn’t know if I could remember to take a pill every day and I didn’t like the idea of all those hormones and chemicals. But when I met my husband we had one pregnancy scare too many and I decided I needed reliability. I’ve been on the patch and now I’m on generic Apri.
I’ll be glad to go off when we start TTC. One less thing to remember to do each day. My periods were never a big problem (though I do love the predictability), so I don’t much care that they’re shorter and lighter. And thanks to the super high estrogen in the patch, my breasts have grown 2 or 3 cup sizes (and they were plenty big to start with, around a DDD). But I hear they won’t go down when I go off HBC, so boo to that.
20I haven't had a bad experience with the pill. I love it I know when my periods come and I don't have them as bad as I used too. My sex drive is still intact thank goodness!!!
21It's a GREAT gift from science - we tend to forget that unplanned pregnancies and childbirth deaths were the norm before hormonal birth control - it's saved countless lives. That said, personally, I'm not a fan of any drug that changes my body as much as BC does - but it's a completely necessary medication for me. I'm in an LDR and I'm a sexual person, an adult, and I want to have that in my relationship. So yes, I'm 100% pro-BC and wish that it were much more affordable and accessible - but for myself, I can't wait to be off of it and use NFP when I'm married.
22I use the Pill. No problems to report here.
23I'm def pro-pill. I didn't start taking thm until I was 18, and no complaints yet.
24Not for me. I'm better off not taking it.
25umm which pill helps your boobies grow? def. for me! LOL!!
I have no side affects on the pill...Only thiing I hate is that if I miss 1 or 2 my period dissapears for months leaving me biting my nails!
26Well, I was on the Pill for almost 15 years, so I guess you could say I'm for it...
27Obviously, everybody has a different reaction to birth control. I love the pill for its effectiveness, and luckily I don't have any side effects from it. However, I wish it didn't cause environmental issues like causing fish to have hormonal problems. If only there were a perfect solution...
28I'm one of the people who can't handle the side effects. I have tried four types: Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Yasmin, Nuvaring and Seasonale... And I've become a moody, irritable mess every time, without fail. The most recent time, I tried Seasonale... I started getting anxiety nightmares and would cry for no reason. I honestly wish I could handle the effects because I know so many other women have great success with it. It's not that I'm against it... I just know it's not for me. I don't like the person I am when I try to mess with it. As my periods are remarkably regular as is, I don't really feel the need, although it does make me more careful about other methods of BC.
29Splendourific- I would recommend asking your doc about a low-dosage pill. I had really bad side effects with Yasmin and two others from the same vein. I'm on Yaz now (low-dose of Yasmin) and it's much better.
I like being on the pill for the help it gives my periods and cramps, but I wish I weren't on it. It does affect my libido. Plus, I just really suck at taking it at the exact same time everyday. Unfortunately, all of the patch/ring ones I tried were very bad for my body... mostly the Nuvaring which I loved the ease of, but it ended up shutting down my estrogen production. Really scary and back to the pill!
30I wish I didn't have to take it, but I have poly cystic ovary syndrome, so it helps with my side effects.
31FOR. i'm on the nuvaring and i don't experience any side effects anymore. i love it! there's no difference for me to even tell that i'm on it and it works the best for my bf and i. i don't even know where i'd be without it! ...oh wait, yeah i do, pregnant.
32I can't live without the Pill! I get moody, cranky, I gain weight because I can't stop eating and my period is so heavy I either pass out or start to vomit.
The fact that it stops me getting pregnant is fantastic too.
33I think the pill is a great invention, but it's not for me. I eat organic food and use natural cleaning and beauty products, so it follows that I hardly want to flood my body with chemicals in this way. I don't have particularly bad periods most of the time, so I feel no need to manage them, and I've always used condoms without incident, so I've never felt worried about pregnancy. Also, the pill increases your risk of blood clots, which run in my family, and aren't something I want to put myself at further risk for.
34I was on the depo injection for a few years and it really messed me up. Then I started taking the mini pill and it made me really sick.
Urgh. It's not worth it.
35yaz works for me.
36I use mirena and i hate it, i feel so emotional and i break out soo bad.
37I want to switch to a copper IUD.
Against it.
Funny story--when I was 16 and went to Planned Parenthood and got on birth control for the first time, I broke out in hives! My mom didn't know about it so I told her I had German Measles.. haha.
I've tried over 5 different birth controls and every one made me bleed during sex. I thought I'd lost all hope until I found Yaz. It is GREAT.
Birth control is a great way to keep our world from overpopulating (well, more than it already is). FOR FOR FOR!
38My Nuvaring works perfectly, I haven't had any mood swings after the first month. I felt very angry before the first periods after getting the ring but since that it's been all good. It's easy solution, I wouldn't want to change back to pills.
39I've been on the Nuvaring for about a year now and I don't think I'll be renewing the prescription. I still have really bad cramps when I'm on my period (which isn't any shorter than it was when I was off BC...) and most importantly, I have NO sex drive whatsoever anymore. It's horrible to have that missing in your intimate life, let me tell you. I've talked about this with my boyfriend and we've decided to go back to condoms.
40Definitely for. I go insane when I'm off the pill nowadays and become deliriously depressed. Oddly enough, they STABILIZE my moods.
