I'm grateful that we are lucky enough to have so many options when it comes to preventing pregnancy and the spread of STIs, but man, birth control isn't cheap! Some options are less expensive than others, but all in all, you still end up shelling out dough just so you can get it on! Whether it's you or your partner who pays for your protection, do tell, how much do you spend on birth control each month?

$20 per pack + whatever secondary we use, about $10 for that
1I am almost embarrassed to admit..i only spend like $1.62 for my pills..my boy buys any condoms we use
2Lol well marni, I spend NOTHING. My health insurance covers my prescriptions 100% and my boy buys condoms if we happen to need them
3I realized recently that I can get my BC for $9 at Target or Wal-Mart because it's a generic brand. Dang it!
Up till then I had been paying $32.
4$50...but I use one of the stronger pills for cysts
5As of lately, nothing. I'm not on hormonal birth control, and we snatched up a crapload of condoms on world AIDS day from school.
We're almost out of those, though, so we'll probably start spending about $10 a month on condoms.
6I only pay $10 a month with insurance. Though, I feel my insurance should cover all of it, especially because I take a generic and it is only $32 with out insurance.
7When I was on my pill I was paying $40 a month, they haven't come out with a generic form of Lybrel yet and my insurance doesn't cover much of a brand name, but I love it and will probably go back to it after the baby is born, hopefully they have a generic by then. So Love Sarah be happy that you only have to pay $10 a month.
8No insurance, $52 a month at Walmart pharmacy for my Ocella pill (generic Yasmin)
9$55 a month for Yaz and that's with insurance. Used to be $25. This is reminding me that I have to call my insurance company.
10Nothing! Students just fill out a form and get hormonal birth control for free. Also they give condoms out like candy to college students. Occasionally I have bought condoms, but I really don't need to.
11$10
12$4/mo.
13$52 for the Nuva-Ring. Thanks insurance, they cover about $1! Thankfully I have a Health Savings Account so the money comes out of that.
14$32 a month and then like $10-15 for condoms, but we don't buy those very often
15I used to pay $25 for Nuvaring but I just switched to the pill which cost $10
16I take Kariva, a generic version of Mircette (which isn't that expensive to begin with), so my insurance covers it all. We buy huge packs of condoms at a time, so dividing how much we spend over how much we use them... about $5 a month? Sounds right. Reminds me that we have to get some more soon too...
17$15 and then whatever for condoms.
1830$ every 3 months. so 10/month for my jolessa (generic of seasonale). its totally worth it.
19pills at 29$/month but i do get reimbursed by my drug plan if i send in the reciepts
20ughhh 57$. my insurance doesnt cover anything! when i was undergrad my university used to only charge me 12$ a month, but since i graduated i cant use their pharmacy anymore. FLORIDA HEALTH INSURANCE SUCKS!
21My co-pay for OrthoTricyclen Lo is $10 a month. I'm getting Mirena soon, though, and that's covered 100%- so free for 5 years!
22$2.99 every 3 months for a dispensing fee. I heart Canada.
23AWs payin bout 40 bucks for tri cyclen before ... swtiched to Neuva ring recently and its not any cheaper either ... need to get new insurance
24I pay $6/mo for my BC pills...they're generic (Ocella).
Apparently this is really cheap, compared to the other prices I've seen on here (gah, I don't know how you girls do it; I'm broke as it is and I've GOT to take BC for med reasons) - and I attribute it to my dad's awesome health insurance.
I can't get that kind of deal for myself anywhere else (not even with the same company!), so I'll be on his plan as LONG as I possibly can!
25(Okay, I should go through ALL the comments before posting!)
Well, it's not *that* cheap. But still...I can't imagine paying more than $15/mo for hormonal birth control - especially because for me, it's no different than any other medical prescription I have to take.
26I used to pay $26 for the NuvaRing at Planned Parenthood. Now I pay $16 for Levora at PP.
2715...all prescriptions are 15 on my insurance.
28The first year I was on BC I didn't have to pay anything because I didn't have a job (I was in school), and I didn't have insurance. Once I went back to get another year's worth, I did have a job and did have insurance, so I had to pay. I paid $30 a month for the first two months after I got more pills, and then the bills stopped.
29All BC rx on my insurance is $15. But I have the Implanon now so I don't have to pay anything copays for rx for the next 3 years. Woohoo! I just had to pay for the doctor's visit to get the Implanon.
30$8 a month that's totally worth it. *^_^*
31Ugh! I'm super broke so $0 on hormonal BC right now! D: My gentleman caller is a few hours drive away, but it terrifies me that I'm depending on a little layer of rubber to keep me from having a baby!
32Omg I was just complaining about this! Since the BC i'm on, Yaz, is not on the list of pc for my insurance provider I have to pay $25 instead of $10. I do wish there would be a generic Yaz. haha.... It sucks super bad. I just bought a new pill pack to start yesterday. It's so stupid b/c I don't even have a boyfriend any more. But I figure it will be just my luck that I meet the man of my dreams as soon as I get off the pill and I'll have to re-regulate my body on the hormones. Blah I really wanted to buy a MAC lipstick but instead my $25 went to a pill.
33I think I pay about $45 for three months worth of pills...so that would be approximately $15 bucks a month
34I used to pay $30/mo w/o insurance until PP now I pay nothing. (broke college student)
35$15 per month on the pill plus condoms on an as-needed basis.
36I'm on Yaz. It's $55 for Jan and Feb, then once my insurance kicks in it costs $35. Eh.
37I graduated college in May and transferred my prescription from my college's pharmacy and it was $58/month(which made me seriously question going off of the pill). I decided to go to PP for this year's appointment and to get my pills because I'm still unemployed, so I get them for free until I can find a job.
38$20 for a 3 month supply, i get them through the mail with Express Scripts.
39$15/month... not bad at all :]
40My yasmin is $50, plus however much is costs for condoms. I can't afford my bc anymore though, so now it's only comndoms.
41I have good insurance...I was paying $15 per month for Yasmin, but now I have an IUD, which my insurance covered.
42$15 for the pill, and boy buys condoms, maybe $12 every couple months (we don't have sex often, we see each other every 2-4 weeks)
43I stopped taking the Pill back in December, but I was paying $5 a month all the years I was on it. I have great health insurance.
44In Canada, I pay $22.92 a month for my Yasmin.
45I've never paid for bc. I was a virgin until the ripe old age of almost-22, then I used the Nuva ring, now I have the Mirena IUD. One of my best friends works for Planned Parenthood and informed me of their program for uninsured patients. So, I got the Nuva AND the Mirena ($800 value!!) for free, as I was uninsured every time I needed the bc.
46$15/month on generic Yasmin.
47i get my nuvaring for free. just go to plan parenthood and they'll most likely give it to you for free.
48$90/3 months Loestrin or however you spell it, and less than $10 for condoms a month, either I buy them or the guy buys them. It doesn't matter to me.
49I used to pay $30/month for Nuvaring, but I changed insurance and now have to pay $48. I wrote a letter of protest to Blue Cross. Mintyminniemir, do you really get it for free at Planned Parenthood? Do you have insurance?
