I missed it live last night but I just watched it like 4 times right now...so cute!
1Beyonce did incredible..Biden little speech before he danced was really nice!
Damn, I missed Joe Biden. But everything else that I saw was very nice!
2Damn, I missed Joe Biden. But everything else that I saw was very nice!
3I watched a good bit of it all on CSPAN last night. I didn't like Michelle's gown all that much, but that's just me. It certainly got in the way of their dancing. I'm sure they got a little tired of 'At Last'. I know I did.
Biden and his wife were cute dancing.
Now it's time to see what Obama is made of.
4That dress was lovely! Did she get a stylist? It seems like her style has improved greatly since he won.
5I like his white bowtie
6she was very stylish before i think, much more stylish than the other ladies and the 3 first ladies that came before her. That photo is exquisite.
7really? I was thinking Laura Bush looked better than anyone else in that grouping of first ladies. If we go four 1st ladies back, then Nancy Reagan was by far the most stylish. I guess I'm just not into the kind of styles that Michelle is wearing.
8I like Michelle's style, and I loved her dress, she is really tall and has a difficult figure to dress and I think she does a great job. Nancy Reagan was a dream to dress, and as a Hollywood starlet, had fantastic fashion sense even in the early eighties (were timeless fashion was not so common).
9I agree with you there Mydia. Can anyone say "parachute pants"?
10laura bush dressed like every old woman i know in stockings and suits and cardigans that should have been retired in the 90s, she was super boring in her choices, there was never a time i thought wow sh looks superb. I think Nancy is a bit before my time lol.
11Thanks Nyaradzom, Laura Bush is a pretty woman, but dresses like an old lady. There's nothing that she wears that I'd even consider.
Looking back at Jackie O, I see what all the fuss was about.
Michelle Obama is so contemporary! I love that she chose to wear a young and up in coming designer.
I loved the dress and thought her and Obama complimented each other very well.
12how beautiful is this picture
13I didn't watch this but from the picture it looks like michelle has pillow fluff or teddy bear stuffing glued to her dress. Can anyone direct me to a picture of the whole dress or let me know what is on it?
14I would never wear the styles that most first ladies wore including Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton, probably b/c I'm still in my 20s. However, there are some things that I would wear that Michelle wears i.e. the purple dress she wore when she gave Obama the now infamous fist-bump.
15Oh and I thought Jill Biden's red gown looked pretty as well.
16I am not sold on Michelle Obama's ball gown. I did prefer her inauguration outfit.
17but it IS nice to see some skin - she's got some killer arms!
18I like that Michelle takes risks with her fashion, and does that whole high-end/low-end mash-up with her clothes. I thought the gown was pretty stunning, and Dr. Biden looked just as gorgeous.
19Now I have seen the dress full on... don't like it. I think it was heavy in the middle. It didn't do anything to flatter her figure except to show off her arms. And I can't get over the fluff... Obama looks dapper, however.
20THE POINT IS, Hainan, is that Michelle has the confidence to pull off anything she wears. It shows, anyone can see that. Maybe you just.don't.get.it.
21I loved her dress last night. It was different but also fashionable.
I've yet to see anyone touch Jackie-O in the fashion department.
22I thought Dr. Biden looked stunning last night; Michelle's dress did look like it was uncomfortable to drag around.
23forget michelle can we talk about the booty bump, i mean how cool is that??? the president booty bumping with 14 year old on the dance floor. Obama's coolness just shot waaaaaay up for me lol.
24He's just 'cool' all around. Seriously, he's 47 years old and is a massive inspiration to people of all ages, the very young and the very old. It is fantastic, really. I loved his dancing, and I love how much he adores Michelle. They're just all-around terrific role models.
25the president booty bumping with 14 year old on the dance floor. Seems wrong. Although I have no idea what you are talking about.
26seriously Indie- why are you still commenting about me?
27That was nothing about confidence. I DON'T LIKE THE DRESS. The fact that you feel you need to comment on everything I say is very flattering though. I think you might be Obsessed. Maybe you should quit commenting about me and stick to the article. Thanks
"The US stock market dropped yesterday, as the Dow Jones had its worse inauguration day decline."
Same thing happened when Obama won the election. It was the worst decline since 1987.
28Haha, nya, I must have missed that!
29"seriously Indie- why are you still commenting about me?

Haha, no...THANK YOU. I rather enjoy your responses, this one especially.
Kudos.
30Nya, if you find a video of that, I'd LOVE to check it out!
31there is a pic on the people website no video that i can find darn!!!
32That is such a sweet picture. It really paints them as real people
33hip bumping.... Ok saw the article. That was cute. Booty Bumping just conjured up bad images in my mind. Hip bumping.... yes
34I love this picture. The look on his face melts my cold, cold heart.
35organic don't you think that's correlation and not causation though?
36He definitely didn't 'cause' that reaction in the market.
37I have a feeling (and I'm not talking about anyone here--at least anyone that's posted here yet) that many people who blame Obama for any downturn in the stock market now, won't be as willing to give him credit for any upswings in the market later.
Just a feeling.
38hmm.
39You're completely on the mark there, Jude.
40I hope to be proven wrong, Indie, but I doubt I will be in this case.
41I agree -- I like that picture, too. What a lovely moment between the couple.
42Org, I am so glad I kept reading and saw that at least one other person noticed the article about the stock market.
43Considering the financial crisis we have been in, i can understand a drop in the stock market. I don't understand how that can be blamed on Obama becoming president. But like Jude said, I bet people who are naturally against Obama are just wetting their pants at this news.
44Because you know, if Obama had lost, the economic crisis would have suddenely ended yesterday.
"organic don't you think that's correlation and not causation though?"
"I have a feeling (and I'm not talking about anyone here--at least anyone that's posted here yet) that many people who blame Obama for any downturn in the stock market now, won't be as willing to give him credit for any upswings in the market later."
"He definitely didn't 'cause' that reaction in the market."
The downturn doesn't reflect any policy of Obama's. It shows the faith that investors have in the future profitability of companies that are traded on the exchange. The downturn when Obama won the election showed a lack of faith in the future profitability of stocks. This doesn't say that Obama has done anything good or bad. It only shows that large investors, based on the policies that he has talked about, do not believe that he will be good for the economy. I take the opinions of these people pretty seriously, because they live and breathe the market. I think it would be fair to say that fund managers know more than myself or Obama about market trends.
Causation is certainly a difficult thing to prove, nigh impossible in the stock market, but I think that the correlation is worth noting. And I certainly do not think it is a coincidence.
45I think historically the markets have always gone down when a Dem is elected and sworn in (on each day).
And I think everyone has a right to their own opinion on MO's dress. Some people would like her wearing a burlap sack just because they like her. Some people will hate her in whatever just because they don't like her.
I do think its unfair though to expect a woman of more... maturity, I think is the polite way to say it, like Laura Bush to dress like a young woman. MO is quite a bit younger than LB so of course she will dress younger and therefore her style might be more appealing to younger people however that doesn't mean that she's Jackie O or that LB had no style.
46Historically Dems are not as favorable to business as Pubs are. I think its just a fact of life. I wouldn't expect the EPA to be throwing a party when a Pub got elected, I don't think we should expect the stock market to rally when a Dem is sworn in. Historically the market takes a dip the day a Dem is sworn in but it usually rallies the next day, as it has been today.
Like Org said, its about confidence and I don't think it should be a surprise to anyone that the market took a dip based on Obama's proclimations of more regulation and higher corporate taxes.
47Side note: I was right about the stylist! Bella has the post - http://www.bellasugar.com/2720832
48I work for a public company and our stocks fall whenever there's a stiff breeze.
49Hmm. Rephrase: I work for a public company and it SEEMS like our stock falls whenever there's a stiff breeze.
