The mood of the inauguration celebration dimmed this afternoon, as Senator Ted Kennedy had a seizure during the inauguration luncheon, according to reports. The Senator, who is fighting a brain tumor, apparently remained conscious and able to communicate.
Sen. Robert Byrd, the oldest member of the Senate, had to leave too, apparently because he was so upset after witnessing Kennedy's convulsions. We hope they both recover soon.

I hope Senator Kennedy can hold on long enough to see the health care reform he's worked so long and hard for become reality.
1Poor guy, I hope he feels better soon.
by the way it only took me about 10 minutes to write this cmoment with the layout.
2Hold on Teddy, hold on.
3Wow, this is just terrible. I hope he makes a quick recovery.
4Steph don't read this, but I don't think Ted Kennedy should have lasted longer than Mary Jo Kopechne...but I'm glad he at least tried to do something positive for health care reform.
This layout is as fast as the old for me. I guess it makes a difference when you have DSL. The only thing I don't like is that it advertises when you joined rather than how much you have contributed such as gold, silver and diamond.
5Poor Teddy.
6Wow, I see now that the Obamas are walking in the parade, out of the limo!
I hope he's wearing a bullet-proof vest!
7...and someone put a helmet on him!!
8I missed it
9Im jealous..I wish I was there watching this in person!
10The Mary Jo incident was tragic but I don't think it's fair to say she should have lasted longer than Teddy. Man and Woman are equal.
11Oh, I hope Senator Kennedy is ok!

Actually, I don't think Teddy should have lasted longer than Mary Jo.
I think he had something to do with the fact that she is...well, dead, and because he was a Kennedy he got away with...possibly murder...or at least being too concerned with his clothes to
save her. I think he has already lived longer than he deserved.
13Ok Jazz, I let the first remark go, now so should you.
That case has been investigated up one side and down the other for decades and if there had been any evidence of a crime, there were plenty of times that the political climate in this country would have tolerated a trial. The Republicans have always hated Kennedy and would have loved to destroy him.
To say anyone has lived longer than he deserved is to risk becoming what you say you hate.
14Alas, I wouldn't consider myself a Republican at this point! But, I have said my peace and I won't change position, but I will let it rest...Try not to be mad at me stephley...I do like you in my corner!
15It would take more than this to shake me: I'm still in your corner!

17I surely hope he gets better. I think the excitement of the day really got to him. But at least he got to stand behind Barack as he took his historical oath.

I hope it was because of fatigue from inaugural events and not a worse sign.
19Seizures are a side effect of the brain tumor. I heard today he's doing well.
