I am so sick of hearing tramp stamp. I got a very meaningful tattoo on my lower back because when I got older I didn't want to be judged for visible tattoos. That was the only non visible place that was large enough for what I wanted, that wouldn't stretch if I have kids someday...

And if you read my comment you'd see I said I didn't want to have my tattoos on display when I got older. And come summer weather (uhhh tank tops) I'm set with a upper back tattoo on display for people to comment and ask about incessantly. Sorry but I think big visible tattoos on woman (not all but most) end up looking gross as you get older.

I didn't want to become one of those people I kind of frown down upon now...

Oh and by the way a tattoo that signifies surviving a life in an abusive home is pretty "meaningful" to me.

While I don't have any tattoos, I too am over the term "tramp stamp". Tattoos aren't always drunken, wreckless and regrettable forms of expression. Many people are like aimeeb and get them for meaningful reasons, that don't need to be explained to anyone but themselves. And that comment in response was rude beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Yeah, it was meant to be rude. It's so annoying for girls with tramp stamps to act so baffled and offended at the terminology for their ink of choice. And I stand by what I said. I have a meaningful tattoo, too, but I don't put it in a sexual area because I have respect for its meaning. Maybe I'm weird.
I wouldn't have been so inflammatory except that I was literally floored by you getting so up-in-arms over a FUNNY term that EVERYONE uses for GOOD reason.

I too have never used the term tramp stamp and I didn't get "up in arms" either. Last time I checked I can post my opinion on here if I so choose to but unlike you I can disagree with someone without being rude, insensitive and tacky-that's the difference between you and I. I don't agree with everyone's opinion and post I've seen on this site the 2 yrs I've been a member but I'm mature and respectful enough not to be crude and immature with my comments.

Also "everyone" uses that term. Maybe where you're from but not here...I guess maybe that's a maturity issue rather than region of the country.

And "respect for yout tattoo", seriously. Like I said, maybe unlike you but I so choose not to have my tattoos that have meaning on display for attention like some people. You might want to take an anatomy class on where your lower back is and how large of an area it is.

And if someone wanted to get a meaningful tattoo and not be 40 some day with a giant wrinkled and faded tattoo showing when they wear items such as a tank top and/or shorts it limits your choices of area. Not everyone wants to look cheap when they get older...
