While a fancy night on the town filled with dancing and drinks sure is a popular way to ring in the New Year, you can't go wrong with a more intimate dinner party gathering on New Year's Eve. When planning my guest list, I started to wonder: If I could invite anyone in the world who would it be?
I came up with Nicolas Sarkozy, Carla Bruni, and Sarah and Todd Palin. That prank phone call between Sarah Palin and a faux-Nicolas Sarkozy got me imagining what a real conversation would entail. The menu could include moose stew and caviar!
What about you, if you could invite any public figure to a dinner party, who would it be?

2Cindy McCain because she owns/runs one of the largest alcohol distribution companies in the US. I bet the lady can chug several beers faster than a Frat boy.
3I would invite the Palins, and the Clintons. Having the two in the same room would be electrifying. What a great way to ring in the new year. Can anyone say "Catfight"?

I think Palin would be a blast at a party - we just couldn't talk about moose, or ANWR, or choice issues, or religion. So maybe she would just stick to telling me how she gets her hair to be so pretty all the time.
Me, I would love to have Rachel Maddow at a party. She's apparently a good bartender, and if she brought Pat Buchanan with her we could watch them spar - they're so great together on TV.
7Sarkozy and Prince Harry. That will definitely be a party crew.
8Fareed Zakariah, George Clooney and Don Cheadle, Rachel Maddow, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Sarah Vowel, Tina Fey and Amy Sedaris. I'd need a crowd, because I'm a lump at parties.
9I don't think I'd want any public figures I admire to see what I'm going to be like after a few hours of tonight's drinkfest.
10The Obamas, Queen Raina, Andersen Cooper, Charlotte Casiragi (I think that's how u spell her name), B-Rad and Angelina, and a whole bunch others that I can't even begin to name.
11As long as we're dreaming, my choice would be Carla Bruni as long as she brought her guitar and agreed to sing.
