Even if you're single, it's not uncommon to keep a list of names for the kids you might have someday. I know plenty of women and even many men who do this, so be honest: Do you have a baby-name list stashed away somewhere?

My sister and I have been doing this since like Middle School. I have a new list of names right now.
Isla Marie
Amelie Jean-Baptiste
Athena Jolie
Robert Leon
John Everett
Ok, there kinda of Frenchy so hopefully I'll find a French guy to marry.
1Hahaaha.. the girl in the picture looks like me and my sister combined. That's hilarious!!
Anyway, back when I thought I was gonna marry Justin Timberlake I had a girl's name picked out *I've shamed myself...*
It had the initial's A.R.T... because his character's name was Arty in Shrek 3. lame. I know. I'm way to old for that mess. I won't tell it because if he marries 'the dude' and she names her kid that~ I may do jail time.
I picked out others too based on celebrity fantasies...but lets not root through the truly rotted trash shall we. LOL
2I do, is this mad? It probably is because my doctor doesn't know if I can have children or not.
I have a list on my iPhone. I started it over the summer when I heard a mother calling "Isaac! Isaac!" and I thought... yes... Isaac...
Now the list grows whenever I hear a new name. I think I'll probably produce it to my boyfriend as soon as I find out I am pregnant for the "vetting". ;p I will have one of these names as AT LEAST a middle name.
3Abraham and Sarah's boy?... that's perfect sparklestar!
Vetting- interesting choice
of words
4I do and I'm so glad to know that it's normal! The name you pick for your kid you're stuck with forever, so you don't want it to be something you like for a year then start hating. If it stays on your list, you can be pretty sure you're gonna love it forever.
5No list for me, although my boyfriend and I got very drunk and decided on names and it's been kind of an inside joke since. We both want to use out late grandfather's names for our son (if we actually ever have kids (although I might still use the name even if I have children with someone else)), so we like "Jonathan Lesley". And we want to name our daughter Darling, even though that's his nickname for me.
6Yes! And I'm not even 100% sure I want kids at this point, but I may some day. Annabelle Kate for a girl and Declan O'Neal for a boy.
Family names.
7Me and my friends used to the do this when we were in middle school, I still have my list and it gets added to all the time. Me and the future hubby have already listed out names we both like and he's vetoed some of mine and me some of his. It's too hard to decide and then you have to consider how it sounds with the last name. That mutually vetoed some of the names we thought of.
8Hasn't Dear already asked this? :/
9I make mental notes of names I like, but I don't write them down.
10Brody Alexander (after Chief Brody, Jaws, lifelong fave movie.) Olivia Lynne, Audrey Lyn, classy, sophisticated female names... guys names have to be awesome though... obviously.
11f*ck no! There is no child coming out of the frozen tundra that is my womb...
12i just hear a name and think "oh i need to remember that" -- i've always loved nicole and nicholas
13I have a list of girls and boys names that I throw around in my head, but I don't necessarily have a list written down. On second though, maybe I do have a list that I wrote a few years ago...but that list has gone through some changes over the years.
For several years, I've wanted my first girl to be named to be Ava because I think the name is so pretty & its short and sweet. But now its getting too popular and I think people may ask me if its because I love Ava Gardner (I don't dislike her, I've just never seen her movies but I would like to). However, my second favorite girl name is Audrey which IS after Audrey Hepburn, whom I adore.
Most of the boys' names I like are Biblical or family name. I love the name James, which was my grandfather's name, and I also like David or Cayden. I also like James and David because they have cute nicknames (Jamie or Davey).
14and the funny thing is i think exactly like CYL, i've always planned to NOT have kids but somehow i find myself still thinking about names. i can't helllllllllp it.
15lol mack I will admit that every once in a while my ovaries fight with my frozen womb and when I ovulate...sometimes I feel the urge to kiss and squeeze a baby....can't help it..but baby names..not so much...
I have had much thought when I was
single about what hot name my next lover/boy toy/bf should have ....though lol
16No way. It may be something teenagers do but I don't know of any grown women (my friends) that write down baby names. I think it's something that your husband and you would do together. In the end you end up choosing together anyway.
17I don't plan on having children so any names I think I like are for future pets.
18Me too, chief. I think of pet names all the time... children... notsomuch.
19...there's an idea. I'm not having anymore children so I'll name the rabbit we're getting one of the names and then the dog we get the other. thanks mynameischief!
Guess what, they end up wanting to change their names anyway...it doesn't matter.
20*If anyone is thinking of baby names, shouldn't it BE a grown woman?
I don't have a list. I just have some family names that I'd like to incorporate as middle names for my kids.
21Sure I've thought about it, and favor some names in particular, but I definitely don't keep a list or anything.
22i just have names that i like.
23for girls: imogen and illyria
for boys: adrian and xavier
I've thought about what I will name my child but I don't have it written down.
24Yes I do, but I keep them super-secret just in case I never have any.
25I don't plan on having kids but I do know what their names would be if I did have any. A boy would be Jared Lucas (Same initials as me) and a girl would be Malerie Patricia (same initials as my husband). If we had 2 sons one would be Mitchell Patrick and another girl would be Janelle something with an L. My grandmother's name was Patricia so I wanted to use that it as the middle name.
26I do not have a list, no.
27I don't have a list, and I think it's a little too much. But, I like the name Benjamin for some reason.
28I'm fond of Vianne and Amelie for girls. I don't really have favorites for boys' names.
29I don't have an actual list; I just know them in my head, and I don't even want kids! If I ever have an oops-baby, a girl will be named Layla and a boy would be either Indiana or Cameron.
30I have a top secret list which I discuss with no one. If I hear someone with that name, it's off the list. So farwell Noah and Moira.
31i have a girl list and a boy list on my phone. i have so many names. and it's true that your tastes change or vary. i used to love the name danielle when i was 13 but now that i'm 21, i still like it but it wouldn't be my top choice.
32I want to have more children one day.
33queenegg! you tell us your list! lol
34I have names that I like in mind but as far as a list of future kids names..no I don't. That's something I want to decide when the time comes.
35I do not want to have children and never have so never made a list for anything except for pets.
36I was just reading about baby names. I have a journal which I add names to almost daily. My most recent idea is, "Gaea" pronounced like Gia, short from Pangaea, greek for "the earth". Besides that I have names like Nico, Jude, Poet etc. at the top. My almost 5 m. old is Ava Jolie Isabel Morrison. The next baby, which I'm positive will be a boy is most likely going to be Poet Justice Morrison.Ode to his gpa. I LOVE thinking of baby names!
37girls - emma, avery, adisson
boys - noah, holden, nathan
& i totally agree with leromantique...classy, sweet and feminine girl names...meshed with awesome, 'cool' boy names
38lol never though about naming babies though
I guess I'll go with something unique that reflects all my children heritage like my parents did. I hope it works out better than the way mine came out
Most people think my parents are hippies instead of staunch military, once
they hear my full name.
But I do like the name Amelia, it's my grandmother's and I adore her so I would love to name a daughter after her. I also like Capucine and my mom's name Sabine and my boyfriend like Mitsuko and Yuriko for girls and Yori and Akira for boys so we'll see when we actually do have children.
39Olivia for a girl, Im not decided yet for a boy.....I want a baby LOL!
40I keep a mental note sometimes but not a list.
41I don't make lists about that kind of stuff that's far away. However, if I had a boy, his name WILL be (BF and I decided) James. If I have a girl, I love the names Brooke, Jackie, Kira, and...that's it, I guess. I don't tend to favor girls names, though I would love a girl some day.
42Sure do! My husband and I picked out one girl's name and one boy's name already... we'll see what happens!
43No not at all. If I have a kid I hope either the dude names it or his and my mom can get together and name it. I couldn't care less!
44Well, I'm pregnant, so yes! But I didn't really have a list before then. I've loved the name Stella for a long time, but that's about it. I hear of other names and think, "oh, that's cute," but I don't keep track of them.
45I don't, but my boyfriend does.
46i have a mental list but it changes sometimes. We currently have 2 boys names that we agree on, but zero girls. oh well we're still a couple years away form having kids anyway
47Oh yes. I loooove Irish, Gaelic, and Welsh names. But my favorite name for a girl is Kyle. I know I'm weird but ever since I watched some season of ANTM with the model named Kyle I've wanted to name my future daughter that.
48Girl - Isabella Crispin (mom's middle name)
Boy - Aidan John (dad's name)
I've had these names picked out for years and I absolutely detest the fact that they are both the top baby names for 2008. When I picked them out they were rare. By the time I actually have kids every girl and boy will have these names. So my back ups:
Girl - Sophie deLaura (my grandma's and my middle name: means "of Laura" in French, which is my great-grandma's name and my mom's name), Giselle, Imogen, Olivia, Addison
Boy - Max, Benjamin, Bradley, Noah
Obviously I've thought about this a bit...
49oh gosh no!!!
that is...
no.
