The pick for CitizenSugar readers' favorite political comedian isn't a shocking one considering funnyman Jon Stewart seems to have set the standard for political comedy since he took over The Daily Show in 1998. Thirty-nine percent of you say Stewart is your favorite, followed by 25 percent of you who love his late night Comedy Central comrade Stephen Colbert.
Stewart had a busy year, hosting his show Monday through Thursday and the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards (where he picked up an award for Best Variety, Music or Comedy Series for his show).
Tina Fey, who had a breakout year impersonating Sarah Palin, received 23 percent of the vote and my bid for the standout comedian of 2008. She is, after all, the woman who had me LOLing when she described Palin's accent as "beautiful Alaskan windsong . . . a little bit Fargo, a little bit Reese Witherspoon in Election" on Letterman.

I love this guy.
1BOOOOO. I vote Colbert.
2Yeah, the Colbert's good too.
3YAY! Colbert is good too, but I'd say he is the better *actor* whereas Stewart is the better writer and comedian. Jon Stewart is so incredibly brilliant as well as funny...and he has the necessary compassion and insight to make him truly effective as a political comedian. He fully understands complexities.
....he's also kind of my top celebrity crush. so much admiration for him.
But yeah he and Colbert kind of complete each other. I love their interactions. I wish they had been listed together to avoid such difficult decisions!
4What is Jon Stewart going to do in 2009 when he has to make commentaries on someone he actually agrees with politically? I'm betting he won't be nearly as funny.
5Obama wasn't exactly immune to Jon's jabs, but I see what you mean. Still, there's always plenty of political idiocy to mock, no matter what the administration
6I like Colbert more.
7But Stewart is great.
There is always something to mock politically, so I'm sure Stewart will still be just as funny. He and his staff are talented enough to come up with new things.
...but my heart belongs to Colbert. Maybe his show will get better (if that's even possible).
8I am in lurve with Jon Stewart.
9I love Jon Stewart! And yes - there is always some dumb politician to make fun of. He will be fine.
10I think Tina Fey was my favorite comedian of 2008... Jon Stewart was more like, my favorite inappropriately older crush of 2008.
11The Daily Show has been on since 1996, with Stewart taking over in 1999 - he doesn't need W to be funny.
12That is debatable. He wasn't funny in 99. From my view, the only reason he is so popular is because of his anti-Bush sentiments, and the low popularity of Bush from 2002 to today.
