Erickson Beamon
who is shouting?
1"Would you be more likely to pardon Blagojevich is he didn't look like a male hustler from 1974?"
oh my god..that sh*t was hilarious!
2The article says Colin implicitly called out Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity and explicitlly called out Rush Limbaugh - "I think the party has to stop shouting at the world and at the country. I think that the party has to take a hard look at itself, and I've talked to a number of leaders in recent weeks and they understand that."
Can we continue to listen to Rush Limbaugh? Is this really the kind of party that we want to be when these kinds of spokespersons seem to appeal to our lesser instincts rather than our better instincts?"
I love Colin Powell, and I think he is so dead on in this article.
3While I think that NASA has its benefits, I also think that right now we need to prioritize, and it just is not an urgent priority. I think their budget should be cut.
4"4. Is it true that the reason part of Rahm Emanuel's finger is missing is because Blago kidnapped Rahm and then cut off his finger and mailed it to you to show you that Rahm was still alive?"
23/6 is the best.
5I'm warming up to Colin Powell again and NASA would do better to play nice: Obama clearly respects science and is far more likely to work with them if they don't act like paranoid arses.
6Townhall:
I really don't know how Powell can position himself as a next generation leader of the GOP considering he supported Obama. I am not Obama-hating, I just don't see how a true conservative could support him, but I guess the meaning of a true conservative is now being hashed out by the GOP.
As for NASA, I don't know if this is politics as usual, but BAD FORM on blocking the President-elect.
7I think it's kind of sad that Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh are viewed as the spokespeople for the Republican Party instead of the entertainment that they are. As much as I love Keith Olbermann I certainly wouldn't want him considered a spokesman for the Democratic party.
For my opinion, the Republicans I've met that make me want to rip my hair out and start riots are the one who can't get off their moral absolutism soapbox long enough to acknowledge reality. I feel like that's such a tiny portion of Republicans, but they seem to be the only memorable ones. Hopefully the stage is set for normal conservatives to step up.
8That Townahll clip made me want to watch "Newsies". And "Miracle". And reminded me of how awful "Troy" was, and that both Gerard Butler and Peter Mullan were in "Braveheart", but no, no, they couldn't get a Scot to play William Wallace.
9I'd love to know what a 'true conservative' is, isn't it possible to be part of the GOP but have your own brain and decide on issues individually? Maybe in the future...
10Troy wasn't THAT bad...I thought it was very well worth the time!
11momma, you know what irked me about Troy the most? The score. I don't know why, but it totally distracted me and took away from the movie! And it was worth the time, too...I mean, I do like Brad Pitt and Eric Bana
12Mel Gibson wanted to play William Wallace himself, I don't know if you know this em but he has a massive ego.
13It would be nice to see a Scot-ified version of "Braveheart". Maybe there's one out there and I'm just completely ignorant of it.
14Eric Bana...
15Have you seen "The Boleyn sisters"
wowza.
Citizen, you almost made me spit water: Would Obama be more likely to pardon Blagojevich if he didn't look like a male hustler from 1974? Seven Blago questions for Obama.
You know you were wrong to put that up there. There should have been a picture of the male hustlers of 1974.
16Not yet, momma! It's on my Netflix.
"You know you were wrong to put that up there. There should have been a picture of the male hustlers of 1974."
...complete with skeev-'stache!

18"10 I'd love to know what a 'true conservative' is, isn't it possible to be part of the GOP but have your own brain and decide on issues individually?"
No - you can't.
Just kidding. I guess the Republican party is currently thrashing it out as to what a true "GOP-er" is.
I do think that in the past, conservatives generally agreed on fundamental social or economic platforms... stances that Obama generally campaigned against.
19LOL Bella!
20I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I gladly take his opinion for what it's worth. I do find it interesting that Libs are warming up to him again, now that he is supporting a stance that is more to their side of the spectrum.
21I've always liked Powell and always hated the "conservatism" of people like Rush - so I'm all for him on this one. I would love to see more Ron Pauls and less Palins in the GOP, even if I don't agree with him on everything, I think his are politics are not liberal obviously, but politics that are respectable and do appeal to better instincts.
22Amen Colin Powell!!!! Somebody hand that man a nice whiskey neat.
23Sec. Powell is probably one of the most reasonable people I've heard express (themselves) and I believe he's right in saying that the type of atmosphere that is cultivated by the likes of Rush Limbaugh is not an endearing quality of the GOP and in fact is counter productive to the party as a whole. The extremists like Rush may be just as content as can be with the rhetoric because it is comforting to their ideology, but their shooting themselves in the foot by being strict partisan extremists. No party or faction of (a) party is going to get most of what they want if they had that we would be living in a Dictatorship not a Republic (democracy). My advise to them and to all for that matter is to be more bipartisan and constantly self reflective about their social/political & religious views and how they effect their lives and the lives around them.
As for Blagojevich, if soon to be President Obama even entertains the notion of a pardon I will be fit to be tied.
24Mandy, I really agree with what you said about Rush representing the Republican party and comparing it to Olbermann representing the Dems. Good point!
I also agree with this point by zeze: " I would love to see more Ron Pauls and less Palins in the GOP, even if I don't agree with him on everything, I think his are politics are not liberal obviously, but politics that are respectable and do appeal to better instincts"
More fiscal and governmental conservatism...with out as much of the social agenda would be appealing to me.
25Hypnoticmix, I agree with you.
26Speak it, Powell!
27Zeze and Jill, it warms my cold, conservative heart to see you saying nice things about Ron Paul
28LOL mich!
29haha Mich, I have to admit though, I tend to swing both ways (Palin more than anyone brought out the blue in me) especially on the state level, so it might not be that impressive that i have nice things to say...Jill agreeing is impressive though.
I wonder if the GOP will reach out to him in the next election or will they really pursue this Palin thing? I think he has a lot of voters (young voter especially)they are not tapping into. He's the change Repubs need!
30Ack- my grandma told me Colin Powell only said those things about "Rush Limbo" because Colin Powell, apparently, is "rayshist." I honestly don't believe that Rush represents the Republicans right now, but his attitude is catching on with more people, like my family. I mean, my grandparents used to love Colin Powell, but my grandpa didn't even vote in this election because he hates the government and pretty much hates the country now too, and I really genuinely think he gets this from listening to Rush. It's ironic, because people like O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh claim to be more patriotic than us "elitist libruls," when in reality they spew more negativity and venom than anyone! All they care about is getting their viewership up and making money- they don't really care about the Republican party. It just makes me mad, because I grew up admiring my family and their beliefs, but now they seem to be buying all this fearful, hateful crap.
31True patriotism just doesn't bring in the money like patriotism laced with extreme self-satisfaction and righteousness.
32That is funny Mich!
33I actually do agree with a lot that Ron Paul has to say. I don't agree with him on all of it, but there are certainly a lot of things I do agree with him whole heartedly on.
Yes, thank you, Mr. General, sir!
