Doggonit — 2008 was Sarah Palin’s breakout year, and whether you love the lipstick-wearing hockey mom's mavericky conservative credentials, or cringe at her policies, you have to agree that she made this year pretty memorable!
Before the end of August, most of us had no idea that Sarah Palin would leave such a mark. She soon made it obvious, with an electric speech at the Republican National Convention, which helped McCain surge ahead in the polls. But after a few stumbles in interviews with the likes of Katie Couric, some became extra curious about the impending VP debate. In the end, the Alaska governor delivered a one-of-a-kind debate performance for Joe Sixpack watching at home.
And who can forget the more playful moments? Palin starred next to look-a-like Tina Fey on SNL. And days before the election we found out the RNC spent $150,000 on Palin's wardrobe, which caused some to call BS on the regular-Joe routine and others to declare Sarah a victim of sexism. Finally, when the campaign ended for good, Sarah came back into our lives with some Thanksgiving spirit, giving an interview while someone slaughtered turkeys right behind her.

tina Fey uses the exact words Sarah used on her interview with Katie Couric highlighting how little she knows.
my favorite sarah palin moment: when she lost.
I haven't had my Sarah Palin moment yet - it involves her riding off into the sunset, for good.
I think she should throw her name in the hat for Hillary's senate seat.
lol organic, i don't think her bible bashing, abstinence only education advocating, rifle toting, moose killing, crazy church going, pitbull in a skirt, hockey mom, airhead ways would go down with those who voted for Hillary in the first way
Where is the none of the above option?
I can't choose, but I think that Turkey moment was insane.
organic was that even a serious comment or are you joking.
I wouldn't call Palin a Bible basher...
Anyway, I picked the debate. I thought she did well.
I picked the interviews, gosh golly.
Wow. Alot of meanness on here....
my fav was when her daughter, Piper, licked her hand and smoothed Trig's hair
so hilarious
I don't think my favorite Sarah Palin moment has occurred yet. It would be her going away ( please no more interviews and media coverage) and governing the state of Alaska!
Agreed, yy.
her Katie Couric interview made my life.
you betcha!
The turkey interview was hilarious!!
I like the turkey interview, nothing like a little reality for america....It comes from somewhere and Sarah isnt afraid of a little controversy.
Skigurl, I think that was my favorite moment too!
I voted for the debate, I also think she did well. However the turkey draining was pretty awesome, too.
That Turkey-draining thing was a controversy, I guess, but I have no idea why.
I can't imagine anyone caring about some turkey that happened to be killed behind Sarah Palin.
And my comment about Sarah Palin... well that's an inside joke between stephley and I.
Hmm, not sure the turkey being killed behind her was so much controversial as just really, really bad choice of doing an interview after you had just participated in the pardoning of the turkey!! A bit ironic don't ya think? And that's why it was so hilarious ad my favorite Palin moment to top off the election!
Ok got it.
river, did you see the thread on it? there was controversy allright.
no i didn't see the thread on it here. I only saw what was broadcast on the news, and I thought it was hilarious. Tina Fey couldn't have written it better. But then that goes for a lot of things concerning Palin
I agree, skigurl. The best thing about SP is Piper holding Trig.
I liked them all, every moment was her. She was herself, whether you excepted or not.
Nothing was a sadder sight then her squaring off against Joe Biden in the debate...
I liked when she did not get reelected as governor in 3 years.
Greatest moment was her sit-down, showed how dumb she really is!
My favorite was the shout out to the third graders during the debate.
I see why I don't really come here anymore.
ECULeah, are we resorting to name-calling on this site???
Great Sommelier, I agree with you.
She didn't actually call someone a name. She said someone was dumb, which is an insulting adjective to be sure, but not a name.
Now if I called her a Dummy, that's calling names.
Just saying. Precision in language is undervalued.
oh boy
Point taken, True Song, but I think there are ways of getting our points across without demeaning someone. If someone said I was dumb, I would consider that the same thing as calling me a Dummy. Just saying...
But I think the point was to demean Governor Palin. I can't think of a way to say "I enjoyed the interviews because they revealed her lack of education on national issues" in a way that doesn't demean her.
That's what I'm saying. The point WAS to demean. Why demean?? The mean-spiritedness has worn way thin.
Lets face it.....Sara was used by McCain to get the women's vote. It didn't work out because she probably got more of the male voters because she is very attractive and we know how guys are. She is not as brainy as Mrs. Clinton or Katie Couric but I give her credit for doing her best and having her 15 mins of fame!!.
We haven't seen the last of Sarah Palin. Get over it.
