Oh, the Olympics. They come; they go. We wait two years for another season. Stories of last-minute switch-ins, and outs, pull the strings of my out-of-shape heart. Even people who don't like sports, love the Olympics. For the first week anyway. So before we say 再见 to the Beijing Games for good, let's look east to our most favorite moments.
The opening ceremony was the most lavish and expensive ever. And, it showed! Swimmer Michael Phelps's historic, eight-gold-medal win crowned him the world's greatest athlete. And it was American gymnast Nastia Liukin — underdog to her friend and teammate Shawn Johnson — who flipped her way into the number-one spot, earning a gold in women's all-around. Even better, it (almost) evened out when Shawn struck gold on the balance beam.
But maybe you've already forgotten the athletes? Nothing wrong with that! Nor is there anything wrong with enjoying a scandal (or two) in your Olympic cocktail. Though seeing pictures of President Bush playing beach volleyball is all the fun I need!
The Olympics definitely top the list of 2008's biggest stories. Before London's calling about the 2012 Games, tell me:

what Michael Phelps did was incredible....hands down!

2I don't really like Nastia, I like Shawn Johnson. She is such a cutie and seems like a nice girl.

Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt, no one talks about him but that man had the crowd on it's feet.

6I think I am proudest of Bush's good judgement when he declined to pat Misty May on the bottom after she invited him to do so.
7My two favorite moments:
The men's 4x100 swim relay...where the French team was the favorite...and the US team won by a nanosecond or two. The looks on the French team's faces was PRICELESS.
Usain Bolt was incredible. I love how enthusiastic the Jamaican athletes and fans (including my Jamaican born BF who nearly broke my couch) were.

11I boycotted the games because they were in China. No point in supporting a Communist for me. However, I did get kinda sucked in my the mens volleyball team and their unlikely Gold win. So I supported the reds just a little bit.
12At first I was really put off...when he slowed down and started celebrating at the end of the 100m, like he was just soooooo fast that he didn't need to bother working so hard. But his explanation was just so simple. He was there to win the gold, not break any records.
13I completely forgot about Usain Bolt. That sh*t was amazing, he won by a mile. Also Shelly-Ann Frasier was so cute with her braces.

Agreed, the look on my face when I realized what I had just saw was priceless, it took a few seconds before I got that they had won!

20The opening ceremonies were awesome! For me, the second best moment was the Spanish team of synchronized swimming winning silver! The Russians were scared!
21Usain Bolt no doubt. . . come on Sugar the guy the the fastest man in WORLD (track and field).
And of course Phelps and Johnson.
