Christmas is only 20 days away so if you haven't started shopping yet, you better get to it this weekend because according to Glamour magazine's December issue, 38 percent of women spend 10 or more hours shopping for holiday gifts! That seems a bit excessive to me, but I guess it all depends on how many people you're shopping for. So ladies, whether you're scaling down your celebration this year or going all out, do tell, who are you buying gifts for this holiday?

1 secretary
usually:
my guy
parents
3 siblings and SOs
4 nephews and a niece
my guys: dad, mom, stepdad, brother, sister, & brother-in-law
but this year? no one actually b/c we are dirt poor. Oh well, I did get a hat signed by a football player that he likes (that is in one of my college classes) but other than that no one
and I feel bad.
22In 2008 -- my parents, brother, fiance, and his immediate family, 5 people on my team at work. Girlfriends and I opted out of gifts this year (we'll have a night out instead). And I always grab a couple of gift tags for the needy from the Christmas tree at my church. It's sort of fun to shop for "Girl, 15" and "Boy, 8!"
23We finally drew names this year for my family because everyone is broke and we keep getting bigger! So I got both of my brother-in-laws (buying boyfriend's name pick because he takes care of his family).
24So this year the list is:
Boyfriend
Parents
2 Brother-in-laws
3 boy nephews
Secret Santa @ wrk
Boss
Grandma
Stocking Stuffer for my Tia Eva (whom I live with)
Omg, I totally spend way more than just 10 hours shopping for people!! LOL!
Family: mom's side: 7 cousins, 2 aunts, 3 uncles (b/c of a divorce), granddad.
dad's side: we decided to do a secret santa thank goodness or it would have been 2 cousins, aunt and uncle, and grandmother/granddaddy
My mom, dad, and sister.
All my friends.
Boyfriend.
One gift total for bf's family.
Horseriding coach and other various acquaintances at the barn.
25-Parents
-Nieces and Nephews (like 12 of them)
-A boy I've been dating for 4 years (no - not my boyfriend)
Haven't started but I'm going to cheat and just do X-mas cards with money for the little ones
26My family and friends! I'm trying to scale back though because I'm trying to save up.
27This year, only my immediate family - others will get cards. I've asked relatives not to send gifts to me. My SO and I are giving each other a New Year's Eve trip since we can't be together at Christmas, and we'll buy something small for his parents in Turkey.
28KIDS
HUBBY
MYSELF
MOM
HIS MOM
thats it! we have a rule...only presents for the kids...no sisters or brothers...they get cards!
29kk. im in college (a.k.a. nooo money) and this is who i have to buy for:
mom
30dad
grandpa
boyfriend
bf's two sisters
bf's sister's bf
bf's parents
bf's 2 aunts, 2 uncles
bf's nana
3 friends at school
i already got my gifts. I always shop a week or two BEFORE black friday (sounds crazy, i know) but thats when all my faves have free gift wrap and shipping (and usually sales) online. I bough the majority of my presents at Neiman Marcus this year.
I ALWAYS buy for my sister (16) and brother(23)
but this year i went a lil crazy and spent about $300 on my boyfriend (dating almost a year)
i never buy for my dad cuz he hates "to see me waste money" on him, so instead when i go home i do chores around the house to give him more free time, he likes that. And i have NO IDEA what to buy my mom... i usually go simple with a CD and dinner when im in town... i think ill take her for mani/pedis when im in town this year, and prob to lunch.
31#1 person is my son-I spend the most money on him, as I should!!
32Second is my boyfriend, then my close family-parents, brother and sister.
Next is my cousins, aunt, nana, and close friends. The rest usually get a card, or gift card, or maybe a nice e-mail. I definitely give a lot more than I receive during the Holidays, but that's okay by me.
-mom
33-2 sisters
-3 nieces and nephews
I've bought presents for my parents, my grandparents, and my brother and his girlfriend. Fortunately the list is quite short, but I've still spent WAY more than I ought to, considering my dwindling savings and rising expenses, student status and the fact that my student job stops for a month over Christmas and I won't have any money coming in for awhile. Can you tell I'm feeling a little stressed cash-wise today?
But I couldn't help myself - buying and
giving people Christmas presents is literally one of the most fun things I get to do all year and I look forward to it so much that I couldn't skimp. I know Christmas isn't about gifts, but
it's not so much the material aspect, it's just watching people open something that I've put a lot of thought into and that I'm pretty sure they'll like, and seeing how excited they are. It
hasn't mattered how old I get; Christmas morning is still a blast.
34That picture makes me dizzy..is it just me?
35My family came with with a plan so that our lists for people to buy for aren't totally overbearing. We only buy for people in our immediate family - so that eliminates buying for aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. My list is pretty manageable.
-husband
36-mom
-stepfather
-2 sisters
-sis-in-law
Let's see...
-Husband
-Mom and Stepfather
-Dad and Stepmother
-3 Grandparents
-Mother in law
-Father in law
-Brother
-Brother in law, Sister in law, and their spouses
-2 Gift exchange
-My "Angel" (Its my little tradition, since I was a little girl. Even this year, though we can't really afford it...)
Until I wrote that list, I was feeling accomplished. All siblings and their spouses are taken care of! Dad/stepmother and grandparents on that side will be getting crafts, so check!
37Boyfriend
Mom
Dad
Brother
My two best girl friends
My best guy friend
My Boss
And everyone else is getting home made cookies. That's actually what my boss will probably get also.
38-mom
-dad
-sister, brother in law, nephew
-aunt, uncle, 3 cousins
-4 family friends
-ups man since I do all of my shopping on line
-boss, and a few co-workers
-dr's office secretaries
-3 friends
Im almost done:)
39Mom
Dad
Sister
Husband
Secret Santa @ work
Secret Santa on husband's side of family
... and I'm all done! Didn't spend anywhere close to 10 hours shopping!
40My boyfriend
My parents
My sister
Four friends (maybe five if I see them over Christmas)
Everybody else at Uni will be baked cupcakes and mince pies for next Thursday.
41This year, no one, because I can't afford it and I'm not going to break the bank pretending otherwise.
42I'm lucky, definitely don't have too many people to shop for. We're not terribly close to our extended family, they'll all get cards and I'll write a personal letter to my Grandparents.I'm also knitting a scarf for my grandfather, this will probably be his last Christmas
And all my
work people (5 or 6 of them in my dept.) will be getting baskets of homemade pinecone fire starters and tons of baked goods! Then I shop for :
-boyfriend
-boyfriend's mom
-mom
-dad
-brother
-2 year old niece (SO FUN to shop for)
-16 yo. girl in our Angel Family @ my 2nd job
I already have way too much stuff for my niece and not enough for the males! UGH and I never know what to get my Dad. But Christmas shopping is my FAVE! I love giving gifts.
43My family doesn't celebrate Christmas and money is tight this year, so I can't really ask them for money to shower my friends with presents, although I'd love to do that for all of them. My own paycheck is strictly for college tuition, so I can't use the money in my bank account, even on myself
So this Christmas I'll probably just buy a few presents so I can reciprocate when other people give me gifts. I won't go out of my way to give people presents but if they spend on me, it is only courteous of me to give back. Not sure how many people will gift me, but I know I will definitely be exchanging gifts with my boyfriend...he is very traditional and would never skip Christmas presents.
44The list truly is endless. I send gifts back to Croatia for my family there, my friends here in NY, my g/f, my employees at the bar, plus giving away $200 this weekend for a pool tournament and another $500 for a Guitar Hero World Tour tournament at the bar. But my g/f gets the bulk of all the gifts, as it should be.
