Here's a thought. Try getting rid of (read kill) the militant extremist groups that call your country home. Make some show that you care about the welfare of the rest of the world.
1I suppose it's tough kick the terrorists off the planet when they are living among supposedly innocent countrymen. Collateral damage is always a problem, especially for ones own government enacting justice on criminals. But, I'm with you UnDave, Pakistan should do a better job of getting rid of the terrorist groups. They were responsible for the Bhutto assassination, and now this. That's plenty of justification.
2While I don't usually care about the trouble that athletes get into, this Plaxico Burress shooting incident will certainly bring up gun control/carry/concealment issues. ESPN magazine just last week had a big story of how many NFL players carry now because they are subjects of robberies and assaults. Plax is stupid if he was carrying without a permit. I guess if he had made decisions prior in his life that made it so that he could never legally carry, that's his own fault. There's a pretty good chance he'll never legally carry now. He might lose his place on the team, get docked pay, etc.
I haven't seen what kind of gun Plaxico Burress was carrying. I'm most curious about that. Was he trying to draw it, or did it go off because of a safety failure? Hopefully we'll find out soon enough here.
3Will there ever be a time when I read the headlines and it they won't say "X number of Iraqis died after bombings" - it is so depressing. How many people does that country have, at the rate reported plus all the other people who go unreported and people who die from elevated violence due to the chaos in the region - they are bound to become extinct at some point.
4Never thought in a million years that I would type this sentence:
I agree with UnDave.
(I am kidding with you UnDave
)
5I hope for Pakistan's sake they cooperate with India to deal with this extremist group if they are responsible. I wouldn't be surprised if the group was somehow supported by the previous Musharraf regime. The new Pakistan government has a million headaches to already deal with now that they are in power.
6Zardari...he's the idiot that was fawning all over Palin when they had a meeting during the campaign season. He is such a joke.
Pakistan is one of the most dangerous places on Earth. They despise 'foreigners' and so many of them are kidnapped and murdered there(i.e. Daniel Pearl). They even kill their own, like Benazir Bhutto, who was Zardari's wife at the time of her death. True, we shouldn't have another war on our(the world's) hands but is India supposed to take this lying down? I think not. Pakistan deserves to be put on notice especially since they have such a lame duck government.
7If the UN would stop sitting on its hands then maybe the world can get something done without the US having to take action or no one takes action.
Wtf is the point of the UN when they can't do anything about anything? I blame them for the Iraq war mess more than anything, yes more than Bush.
8It's OK Geebers. I suprised to be reading it. I must be rubbing off on you.
9geebers: Run away...as fast as you can. Don't look back.
10I'm feeling very afraid.
11There are worse things. You could agree with indie.
12beavis, if what I read was correct, Plax had the gun in the leg of pants. It started to slide down and it went off when he tried to readjust it. In other words, it was just about as stupid as stupid can get.
13Hmm, yes that is stupid. He had a .40 caliber gun. I don't know of any .40 caliber revolvers. Most 1911 Colt type pistols are 45's with some of them being 9mm. He probably had one of the semi auto sig/glock/xd pistols. Some of them have very intricate, even dual safety systems. How unsafe/poorly was he carrying that it was that easy to set off?
14Oh the plaxico gun news was just ridiculous. This is an example of someone who should NOT be carrying a gun. He clearly is not equipped to handle it. Thank god he accidentally shot himself and is OK instead of injuring another person.
15There's always the possibility that he was lying about the circumstances in which it went off.
16GOOD. Pakistan should be scared. I'm sick of their government immediately taking the "we had no part in this" act. Even if I were to reluctantly give them the benefit of doubt, they should be far more pro-active in ridding their country of these incredibly problematic extremists (STARTING in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir).
Furthermore, I'm glad some of these corrupt and useless Indian politicians are stepping down. It's about time. It's just unfortunate it has taken such a massacre for India to finally wake up and realize the danger in allowing these extremists to have terrorized its people in the first place.

100% Agreed. Pakistan needs to haul some serious ass on the extremists occupying their homeland...but they can't really care all that much. Nothing prompted them to charge of these terrorists even after the Bhutto assasination. If India declares war with Pakistan for the recent attacks, well, their government had it coming.
19I'm with everyone about Pakistan needs to get off it's ass. Unfortunately though a lot of members in office have ties with these terrorist groups. What the middle east, and the rest of the world needs to be in my opinion to be more secular. Radical religious ideologies unfortunately is the gist of a lot of these wars and attacks.
20Plaxco is either lying about it sliding down his leg or we a dumb*ss for not putting the safety on. What kind of man put a gun near his crotch that doesn't have a secure safety. And he didn't have a permit, it's like speeding without a license. Why would you draw attention to yourself when your doing something illegal. I'm sure he doesn't get patted down in clubs, he could have also worn a shoulder holster. Just stupidity all around.
I also agree with UnDave
. And if they don't start then India has the right to
intervene. In this case the casualties caused in the short term would benefit the innocent people of Pakistan in the long run. India has to protect itself.
