Although Thanksgiving is considered a family holiday, not everyone is able to spend it with their loved ones. That's why, if you are spending turkey day with your friends and family, it's important to be thankful! Here are some reminders if you need them:
- You get to take part in all your old family traditions.
- Being together means one less cross-country phone call.
- Getting tipsy with your parents is surprisingly fun!
- You get to eat your favorite family recipes made just right.
- You get to be babied again by your parents.

3Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only times where I see half of my family. Most of them live all over the country, and visits are very limited.
4I'm just greatful for the fact that they're still there for me, and never seem to go away no matter what. Its an odd concept in my life nowadays.

9Umm, babied? I don't think babied includes making a several course meal at your house! (I'm 23 and I've just now hit *terrified* on my scale of emotions about tonight/tomorrow)
I'm so excited to see my parents, though. I haven't seen them in about eight weeks, which is the longest time I've gone EVER without seeing them. (I lived so close in college, and had weekends off)
10Even though only the first one is true for my family, I'll still miss being with the extended family at Thanksgiving.
- As I am living at home...getting tipsy with the fam = BIG NO NO. I'm 22 and *still* not allowed to drink at home - mostly because I'm a girl, and I "shouldn't even be thinking about alcohol" (!!!). My family has a "you're not really GROWN until you move out for good/turn 25" unwritten rule. The last family wedding I went to my older cousins railed for TWO WEEKS for having ONE blue martini!!
- Babied by my parents? HA. I wish! More like, "oh look, there's two extra hands for making food and cleaning up! Put her to WORK, she doesn't have anywhere to go..."
But hopefully we'll have a good Thanksgiving...and I won't have to cuss at the lady that's putting on the dinner we're attending (she can't cook!).
11This time of year is super hard for me. I miss my parents. My dad died not too long ago and my mom lives far far away......
12Yeah, none of these are true for me ... the holidays are totally different for me now than they were 10 years ago. I was just thinking this morning that 10 years ago was one of the last times I saw my grandmother - soon after this, I graduated from college and moved away, and her health started to fail. We had always traveled to her house for holidays, so when she died the feeling of tradition did too; now my parents stay home and I'm across the country.
But I am thankful for the memories I have. And I hope I can give my kids good holiday traditions - ones that don't die out when the matriarch dies.
13I am thankful to have my loved ones around me, that we are all healthy, happy and safe. What more could I ask for?
14I see my parents and sisters every 3 weeks or so, but I am excited to spend time with them for this long weekend. Sometimes you just need to go back home and recharge ur batteries
and I am in need of some recharging right now 
15I love Thanksgiving and I love my family!! Cooking the meal and bringing up embarassing but funny memories are the best things!!
16I don't find any of those good reasons. Well the drinking part is entertaining. My family/extended family don't really drink, but it's funny and interesting to see them whip out the alcohol every so often, it's like wtf? You old people drink? Hahahha.
17I get babied in spirit, but my mom puts me to work cooking right away!
