If you wish you could see into the future, US intelligence officials are here to hand you a crystal ball. The National Intelligence Council just released Global Trends 2025, an unclassified intelligence report put out every four years, and assesses the opportunities and problems that lie ahead in the next 15 years. One tip: Americans might need to start practicing being humble, because by 2025 the US could lose its position of global supremacy.
Other findings include:
- Global warming will have a positive economic impact in Russian and Canada because it will make seasons longer, as well as increase their access to oil fields.
- Russia's rise could be hindered by a lack of investment in the energy sector, crime, and corruption.
- Governments in Africa and South Asia could collapse due to security problems or water and food shortages caused by a population boom of 1.5 billion and global warming.
- There will be a greater potential for war in 2025, thanks to increased global competition for food, water, and energy.
- The transfer of wealth from West to East will continue for the foreseeable future.
- Thanks to economic growth in the Middle East, and growing unpopularity of al Qaeda, the terrorist network will collapse sooner than people think.
To see some other predictions regarding Iran, nuclear weapons, and US dominance, read more.
- Iran could be a major world player if it gets rid of its theocracy.
- The risk of a nuclear weapon detonation will still remain low in 2025, but it will be higher than today's risk.
- A growing demand to solve domestic problems could cause the US to reduce global aid, thus reducing US influence.
Are you upset or happy that US global domination could decrease over the next 15 years?

1Who even reads intellegence reports?
2the increase in wars freaks me out, but the rest of this is not surprising at all.
3I don't know that being less dominant would be the worst that could happen - we should be able to live with it.
4Our intelligence people appear to believe in global warming, but don't believe that we'll get serious about alternative energy any time soon.
..and then the "intellegence" report said "that will be 19.95 and i only take cash, palm reading is 10 dollars extra"
5Calling Ms. Cleo...
I take this report with a grain of salt.
6Well, it all sounds pretty likely to me.
7And Happy Weekend Folks!
8Good, we have too many expectations put on us as world leaders anyways... maybe the rest of the world will finally contribute their fair share!
9Scary...
10Should we add, "in bed" to this like we do with fortune cookies?
11A growing demand to solve domestic problems could cause the US to reduce global aid, thus reducing US influence....in bed!
12Iran could be a major world player if it gets rid of its theocracy....in bed!
13Russia's rise could be hindered by a lack of investment in the energy sector, crime, and corruption...in bed.
14The risk of a nuclear weapon detonation will still remain low in 2025, but it will be higher than today's risk...in bed!!!
15I think this would actually be good for us as a nation and culture. It's a lot harder to be insular and determinedly indifferent to the rest of the world (I'm not talking about anyone in particular, just a general mentality) when one isn't on top and doesn't have the luxury of unilateral domination.
16Wait...
"and doesn't have the luxury of unilateral domination...in bed."

18
... in bed.
19I am literally loling.
20I take all this with a grain of salt and a look at history.
All great nations - empires, whatever - rise, and fall over time. Some rise again, some don't.
It won't be the first time, or the last time. However what actually happens in 2025 is not written in stone. America's fate is in the hands of her people (one hopes.).
21...in bed.
22Some rise again, some don't.... in bed.
I'm sorry shadow, you just set it up perfectly!!
23Ba dum bum!
24lol, what are you talking about? that was the best one ever.
Some rise again, some don't.... in bed.
25....in bed.
26Aww...I was in bed too late
27You're so pretty!
28...in bed!
29lol
30That's what she said
31My sister and I are just wired to say that. We won't even think about it and just blurt that out when it fits. If in public we just do it under our breath. We started doing that in, oh, I guess 99', and were ecstatic when The Office made it socially acceptable!
32Well, not acceptable, just not as shocking.
....in bed.
33My friends and I have been saying that for years too. Same with "Your mom..." retorts.
I actually have to check the setting I'm in before I say either of the phrases. I've said it at work before and been horrified. Good thing my boss thought it was hysterical!
34GS....
It won't be the first time, or the last time.
In bed.
(smartypants!)
35I would say we have already lost our dominance...
36...in bed?
37That's what she said.
38
39That is more than just vague speculation but I guess it's one of the most believeable scenarios. Also, I don't really think it's a big deal (or any) if the US should lose their "leading" position in the international community.
40pretty scary stuff.
41Cold places will benefit by being warmer. Hot places will be hurt by hotter weather. We will continue to buy products from places that do not have the same ridiculous regulations that we have.
Very intelligent report. I'm glad we have these people to warn us about what lies ahead.
42well... that makes me never want to have children sheesh!
43I am actually very HAPPY that the US global domination will finally end.. I'm not an American nor i live in the US so it is very heartwarming to hear that finally, FINALLY, a shift in focus will finally happen: FILIPINO FIRST!
It would be beneficial if my
fellowmen will decrease their dependence on foreign benefits and goods since as a natural resource-rich country, we have a lot to offer--we don't need neocolonialism to ruin our heritage and
culture. Foreigners have done enough. >:(
44Your mom will have a positive economic impact in Russian and Canada.
45
46I love that this is still going
...in bed!
47Your mom's still going on... in bed.
Alright, NOW I'm done.
