You may have heard Sarah Palin can hunt and skin a moose, but did you know that she could give an interview while someone else slaughters turkeys in the background? In the video below (warning! watching this video could prevent you from eating turkey on Thanksgiving or ever again), Palin chats about Alaska's state budget and her experience on the campaign trail, while turkeys meet their dark, headless, fates.
Before the impromptu interview Sarah Palin made sure one lucky Wasilla turkey could witness the big day — she issued a special pardon. Unfortunately, the tough-on-turkey governor only took mercy on one bird.

1 - Her voice is soooo irritating, and I don't know if it's this video or all the time, but it hurt to listen to her speak.
2 - omg! Poor turkeys
3 - what type of politician does an interview with turkeys getting slaughtered in the back ground and says she enjoyed being there - the only word that comes to mind is stupid.
4 - I am glad I hate turkey, I just don't know how I'll face chicken again.
1LMAO! The dude in the background was hilarious.
2The end of the interview is hilarious, as well.
Thank you, Gov. Palin, for helping in inadvertently promote vegetarianism!
3I keep showing this to everyone I know, ruining as many Thanksgiving meal appetites as possible.
I was watching this is after I saw the guy in the background I stopped, I was horrified! What the hell is the point of pardoning a turkey when we know you're going to have turkey on Thanksgiving anyway.
And yes I'm a vegetarian lol
4Surely she didn't realize what was going on behind her?
5I don't see how it ruins thanksgiving unless people think their turkeys magically die and are de-feathered and sent to the grocery store.
6I agree with esk4, if you can't handle Turkeys being slaughtered then maybe you shouldn't eat them.
7You can have a wonderful thanksgiving meal WITHOUT a turkey, so nothing in this video can ruin thanksgiving. and yeah, you definitely shouldn't be eating any meat if the slaughtering of animals bothers you.
8If we all close our eyes tightly and click our heels together, will she finally cross the bridge to nowhere and just go away???
9I fault the news crew that shot the video for the background. Personally, I'd rather not see the birds getting killed, but as esk4 said, turkeys (or chickens for that matter) don't magically die and appear defeathered in the grocery store.
10had she not been a hunter and skin this and that, no one would care or would this be made so big, and why would this ruin thanksgiving, its common sense what is done to animals to feed us humans
11I grew up on a farm - didn't bother me. Of course I don't eat turkey for Thanksgiving.
12The camera was obviously pointed in such a way that it would pick up background scene. Was not even standing in front of Palin--filming from her side. Also one could tell that the turkeyman did not plan to be in video and was trying to decide what he should do with camera pointed at him.
13I actually got hungry watching it, see i dont think there are farms of featherless bagged and prebasted turkeys just rolling around out in a field somewhere, I know where they come from and what has to be done for them to get there. I found it refreshing to see REAL LIFE going on behind her!
Turkeys were put here to make my tummy full and head sleepy.
Off with thier heads.
14I'll just read the comments...I wont open it! I refuuuse!
15"Off with thier heads."
16This whole thing was just...I have no words. Too wierd!
17Haha momma, I didn't watch the vid either! No thanks, I'm looking forward to my Thanksgiving turkey
18I heard this morning that the camera crew told Gov. Palin what was going on behind her and asked if she wanted to move. She said no and they continued on. She looks at what's going on behind her and smiles at one point.
19I'm outraged! Filming turkeys being slaughtered for my benefit and looking and even pointing at one point.
That's why I like Sarah. She keeps it real. She doesn't just eat turkey and give no thought to how it ended up in her mouth. And she doesn't sit back and hypocritically proclaim outrage at something that she herself participates in. Cause let's face it, if you have eaten turkey at any point in your life, then that guy or another one just like him is killing those turkeys for you. So in a way, you are contributing to their slaughter. Outrageous!
20i like that she makes the comment about 'it's nice to do something that won't provoke controversy' or something. SERIOUSLY SARAH?
21"I don't see how it ruins thanksgiving unless people think their turkeys magically die and are de-feathered and sent to the grocery store."
Exactly my thoughts! Honestly. If you can't handle it, don't eat it.
I like that she's a bit gritty, personally.
22esk4, You made the point I was just going to make. Very well said.
And yeah, it's the film crew trying yet again to make her look as bad as they possibly can. THEY could see what was happening even if she wasn't aware of it and should have re-framed the shot.
23Mykie she was told what was going on behind her and even looks at one point.
24lol the turkey didn't even die ya'll
25got curious....
26I agree with pop, the woman has grit and she can handle reality (plus she and her family hunt, so I assume this is not new stuff to her).
If it bothers you that much, become vegetarian.
27Yeah, I may not like Sarah Palin but the crew intentionally positioned their cameras that way to stir up a 'controversy' among animal activists. As for me, I eat turkey but prefer not to see one being slaughtered if I don't have to. I've watched my uncle chop off chicken heads and that wasn't exactly pretty. It was baked the same day and well, I gotta say everything taste good when it's very fresh.
28"Mykie she was told what was going on behind her and even looks at one point."
What difference does that make? She was standing within hearing distance of the turkey killing machine. Of course she knew what was going on behind her. I don't see the point you are trying to make.
29Hehe, I like the guy in the background. This looks like it would be a scene straight out of South Park.
"...building this team that, uh, is continually being built.." Nice.
30"What difference does that make? "
The point is that she knew they were in the frame and didn't ask to change the shot. So the argument that she was "set up" to look bad doesn't hold weight.
I don't think it looks bad anyway but that's just my take.
31It didn't bother me to watch it. But that guy in the background looked so strange.
32Sarah Palin bothered me more than the turkey's being slaughtered.
I think people have a problem with actually seeing the slaughter even though they are aware it happens... We're pretty far removed from our hunting days (most of us anyways) so we're not desensitized to it.
33As a vegetarian I am going to agree with people that if you can't stand to watch animals being slaughtered for food then don't eat meat. I obviously don't care for it but I do think that it shows that she is not ignorantly eating meat without considering what happens before it gets on her plate.
34Most people have no idea of the brutality of animal farming. Turkeys are given so many steroids they eventually can't even walk. That's why you never hear about the ones who are "pardoned." They usually die soon after.
I think it was McCartney who said if slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian.
Two words: Go Veg!
35piper23, pop answered your question for me. She wasn't set up to look bad.
36I guess that would understandable if I thought she looked bad in the first place. I'm thinking that she like any other meat eater, realizes that animals actually have to die in order for us to eat them and she didn't have a problem showing us the means by which is happens.
37piper, I said she didn't care. Palin even smiles as she looks back at one point. I'm not saying it was a good or bad reaction. I'm just saying she wasn't set up.
38Palin learned a lot on the campaign trail - its the background that makes the story worth airing nationally.
39"That's why I like Sarah. She keeps it real."
Oh Piper you continue to make me die of laughter.
40Too bad she's doing her own hair again.
41Too bad she's doing her own hair again.
42Oh Stephley you know I've also noticed that. Her hair didn't even look combed at the Miami Gov. Repub. thing-a-majigger
43"Oh Piper you continue to make me die of laughter."
My intent is not to cause your demise. You might want to get that checked out.
44That video is just strange. I don't get it. She's at a turkey slaughterhouse talking about her states budget? I didn't listen (no speakers) but state budgets and turkey slaughtering are two completely unrelated things. Am I missing something here?
And while I don't particularly ENJOY watching turkeys being slaughtered, it's not going to make me stop eating them.
45She was there to pardon a turkey. Then someone interviewed her.
46Jimbo, I have been to slaughterhouses, actually a turkey one when the owner agreed to adopt our German Shepard. It smelled, but all in all it was nicely run and loud. Not all of them are pumped up on steroids. but if they are? those are some yummy sterioids.
47Thanks Lili, I don't have speakers where I am so I could only "watch" and not listen. Maybe I shouldn't comment on videos until I can see AND here. LMAO
48I was confused too Mykie! Thanks Pop...makes a tiny bit more sense now.
49what the hell?? I was way too distracted and have no idea what Palin said. I'm not even sure what I saw... Put the turkey upside-down in a funnel? was he drowning it? I have no idea..
