Eureka Springs has become the San Francisco of Arkansas, according to the American Family Association. The AFA's latest DVD — They're Coming to Your Town — teaches unsuspecting Christian communities how to prevent gays from taking over their towns. If you're so inclined, you can purchase the DVD in a five-pack and distribute it to your friends or Sunday school teachers.
Salon points out that the besieged town's city council recently implemented a domestic partnership registry for gay couples after a unanimous vote, thus making Eureka a great example of the homosexual threat AFA seeks to combat. I guess only straight people can be part of American families?

This is sad and revolting on so many levels.
1Wow...I am speechless....
2not touching this.
3Disgusting.
4"City Council member Joyce Zeller said the city will now be promoted, not as a Christian resort, but a city “selling peace, relaxation, history and sex.”
5What's the difference between a Christian resort and a city offering peace, relaxation, history (I get that Zeller probably hates sex)? This doesn't exactly sound like hell to me.
These people really, really need to stop judging everyone else and worry about their own souls.
LOL "They're coming to town" ( cue spooky music)
So ridiculous I not even going to get into what type of person would feed into this type of stuff.
6basty the AFA is 2 million plus strong.
ever been to thier website, its....interesting.
7It's no more revolting than a blacklist of Prop 8 supporters. I think both sides need to stop being hate-driven maniacs.
8What's on the "gay agenda" they are so afraid of? I'll need a copy before I go to the meeting.
9I not doubting this groups relevance or strength. As someone who has actually been to Eureka Springs, lived in Arkansas ( there is a street and a road in a city named after my family), as well as have family and friends there. I am aware of "fear ads" similar to this sometimes rev up hateful groups that's all.
10"What's on the "gay agenda" they are so afraid of?"
The gay agenda is so terrifying. I mean, they want to exist alongside straight people and enjoy the same rights and open, unharrassed existence. Isn't that terrible?
11Jude you couldn't be more wrong, this :

is totally the "gay agenda" aahhahahahah
12Nauseating
13WOOP this is thier agenda according to the AFA.
1. Homosexuals “demand passage of a Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender civil
rights bill” and the “repeal of all sodomy laws
and other laws that criminalize private sexual
expression between consenting adults.”42
It is important to identify the far-reaching
implications of the repeal of such laws against
certain sexual behaviors or the implementation
of laws protecting such sexual behavior as
a “civil right.” What would happen, for example,
to a church that fired a minister because
of homosexual activity? What would
take precedence, the rights of the church to
maintain that homosexuality, even between
consenting adults, is morally wrong and that
their ministers should be held to such a standard,
or the “civil rights” of the minister to
engage in such activity?
It is not enough for the homosexual community
to claim that all they want is for the
activity not to be criminalized. To treat homosexuality
as a civil right is to enable the courts
to allow the activity wherever civil rights are
protected.
2. Homosexuals “demand legislation to
prevent discrimination against Lesbians,
Gays, Bisexuals and Transgendered people in
the areas of family diversity, custody, adoption
and foster care and that the definition of
family includes the full diversity of all family
structures.”
3. Homosexuals “demand full and equal
inclusion of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and
Transgendered people in the educational system,
and inclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual
and Transgender studies in multicultural curricula.”
4. Homosexuals seem to favor leniency regarding
pedophilia. According to one of San
Francisco’s newspapers for homosexuals,
“NAMBLA’s [North American Man/Boy
Love Association] position on sex is not unreasonable,
just unpopular. The love between
men and boys is at the foundation of homosexuality.”
5. Homosexuals seek “institute training for
all personnel on the acceptance of homosexual
or bisexual personnel in the military.”
6. Homosexuals seek to undercut the social
authority of churches. “We can undermine the
moral authority of homophobic churches by
portraying them as antiquated backwaters,
badly out of step with the times and with the
latest findings of psychology. …Such an unholy
alliance [science and public opinion] has
worked before [against institutional religion]
on such topics as divorce and abortion. With
enough open talk about the prevalence and acceptability
of homosexuality, that alliance can
work again here.”
7. Homosexuals seek to make their homosexuality
14more accepted by society. “The first
order of business is desensitization of the
American public concerning gays and gay
rights. …You can forget about trying to persuade
the masses that homosexuality is a good
thing. But if you can get them to think that it
is just another thing with a shrug of their shoulders,
then your battle for legal and social rights
is virtually won.
I love how they frame it as protecting families. The only stable couple in my (admittedly large)family are my uncles who have been together since before I was born and remain deeply committed. Everyone else has been divorced at least twice.
So basically, it seems like they're not really protecting families, but have a problem with sex and choose to combat it by putting their noses into other people's sex lives. What perverts!
151-2 the gays are coming for you... ahahah
I don't promote this, nor do I promote blacklisting people who support straight marriage. I agree with who ever said that.
But at the same time... I am a photographer feel like I should be able to not photograph a gay wedding if I so choose.... And having someone sued in california for just that reason, I can see why someone would do this.

17Jude, how dare they?!
Oooh the "gay agenda" is so cute and stylish, bas! Sign me up!
18A registry? Is that like the X-Men mutant registry?
19Yep, that's pretty lame. It's not only offensive but really poorly produced. "Show it at home! In your Churches! Don't let this happen to you!"
I live in Northwest Arkansas and Eureka Springs certainly is the homosexual capital of the area, but it's also the capital for hippies and the folksy art community. I'm waiting for the video to combat that-- They're Coming to Your Town 2: Artistic Hippie Invasion.
Unfortunately this type of fear-mongering, us-vs-them mentality will continue to appeal to some. I hear those hippies sell brownies that help everyone get along...Time to go to Eureka Springs!
20oh no! your town will be infested with lofts and DWR! Starbucks will spring up on every corner! There will be wine shops and little antique stores! Property values will go up! Don't let this happen!
21
22LOL Starbucks you mean boutique coffee shops, nice upscale bars, elegantly manicure lawns, and spectacular DYI self upgrades on historic homes. ahahaha somebody stop them
23I think they're afraid this is how they will elegantly manicure their lawns...
24
25
26Wow. Just wow. For a 'love thy neighbor' kind of religion, they sure are spewing a lot of hate...
(Love the guy mowing his lawn!!)
27LOL @ that picture
)
28Woop and blue,
29Oh, phew! I was afraid something was wrong. There hadn't been a same sex marriage post in almost a week!
30"Gays are trying to take over America one by one"
Oh shut the f*ck up already! Gay couples want equal rights when it comes to their parterships or I should just say....they are just trying to make their marriage legal and get all the advantages that straight couples do legalwise. And that comment...
"teaches unsuspecting Christian communities how to prevent gays from taking over their towns"
Those so called Christians are sad. They should find something better to do with their time than to deal with something as false as this mess.
31This angers me beyond words...
I would not mind "gays" taking over my town; they are PEOPLE. I hate how the AFA is trying to make it out to the plague. I do not give a sh*t if a person is gay or straight, as long as a person is genuine & kind human, I have no issue with you whatsoever. To hate someone just because of sexual preference is such a horrible way to be. You could be missing the chance of knowing an amazing person. Everyone deserves the same rights.
32* to be the plague. (d*mn, I keep forgetting to add some words to my sentences, lol.)
33I'll come back later when I'm threw belly laughing. Good Lord!
34wooow! Thats crazy talk!

35by the way im laughing at the little things posted in comments...the guy mowing his lawn? priceless!
Oh my I didn't realize that the "Gay Agenda" cost $304 dollars no wonder the AFA is pissed...way overpriced!
36I sang that song all through lunch
37It isn't all about about hate, or at least it didn't necessarily start that way. Most Christians like myself believe that pre-marital sex, shacking up, and homosexuality are sexual deviance and the wrong thing to do. There isn't so much hate in that, is there? That's our right to believe that, and try to instill those values in our kids. We try to hate the sin, love the sinner. Granted, there are folks out there who hate gay people, and hated them before any of this debate and amendments and all that. But I think most Christians subscribe basically to what I put above. From there, things spin out of control.
38Christians like you may believe that.
39Christians like me believe that Jesus said to love your neighbor, and that standing in judgment of other people and making videos on how to keep people who don't live according to your values out of the neighborhood would be a most serious violation of Jesus' command.
maybe to them it is no different then trying to keep drug addicts/meth heads/criminals out of their community. Steph wouldn't you do that???
40I love to play devils advocate ahaaha
"It isn't all about about hate, or at least it didn't necessarily start that way. Most Christians like myself believe that pre-marital sex, shacking up, and homosexuality are sexual deviance and the wrong thing to do. There isn't so much hate in that, is there? That's our right to believe that"
of course it's your right to believe that but it's someone right for someone to personally diagree with those beliefs. But my question is some Christians/other religous groups don't put as much fuel and energy in the other things you mention i.e. shaking up, premarital hetrosexual sex etc but in the same breath preach that homosexuality is just unacceptable
41Some people have a weird hetro Sin only double standard ahahaha!
42Well we can debate whether the video conveys the right message Stephley, but my point was that it isn't all hate coming from the right. And, all the hate isn't coming from the right (as this thread clearly indicates).
And Hainan's point is valid. To what end is judgement okay? We need to be able to judge right and wrong for ourselves. It's wrong to judge in a holier than thou sense and putting ourselves above others.
43I have to go I hope all of you have a gay weekend! tah tah
44Sure Basty, that is a double standard when Christians focus on homosexuality as the only form of sexual deviance. It seems many have given up on premarital sex, underage sex, etc.
45I'm not in support of vigilante justice either, so wouldn't support videos on how to keep anyone in particular out of my community. You can have all the personal judgments you want, just keep them to yourself.
46Since when was there a moral age limit to having sex? There's a legal one (18) but I never heard of an underage sexual deviance. I agree, though, that a lot of Christians have given up on the "other" sexual sins and seem to be focusing on homosexuality. I have always questioned why, as they are all equally wrong according to the Bible. Only God does say (in the Bible) once, that homosexuality is not a sin but an abomination. Never, not once, does He say to hate anyone for their sins...ridiculous to me that people do that. People are people. Hate the sin, love the sinner...
47Stephley, I highly doubt you live by the mantra you just preached. Now granted we all fall short, but you make judgements all the time, and you don't keep them to yourself.
Sugasuga, I suppose the moral age limit is going to be relative down to the culture, community, religion, and family levels in regards who what age is morally to young. Speaking of legal age, did you know that Canada has 2 different legal ages for sex w/minors?
48..didn't complete my thought on the Canada thing. They have 2 legal ages of consent when it comes to males and females. To me, that's an odd thing to differentiate.
49I make judgments, I've discussed what I think with others, but I've never said 'here's how we get that person out of town, out of the neighborhood...'
50And it's disingenuous to pretend that either of us thinks that all personal judgments are equal. Saying I want recycling in my neighborhood is not equal to discussing ways to keep people who do things in their bedrooms that I might not like out of my neighborhood.
