Reports have broken that Barack Obama will appoint lawyer Eric Holder to the position of attorney general. A former judge, Holder also served as Bill Clinton's deputy attorney general and led Obama's VP search team. He would be the fist African-American to lead the Justice Department.
Newseek reports that Holder accepted the job, but an announcement will not be made until after Holder is officially vetted and until Obama chooses Treasury and State Department secretaries.

Stedman? thats awesome, I always thought he would get beyond Oprahs shadow.
1CG I thought the EXACT same thing when this came up on my computer!
2WTF --Stedman? Stedman, is heavier than this guy. CG, after I read your comment I had to go back to the post.
3He seems to fit the bipartisan requirement:
4"Holder was fresh out of law school when he was assigned to the newly formed public integrity section of the Justice Department. There, he helped prosecute several high-profile defendants...
President Reagan nominated him to a D.C. judgeship and he was later tapped by President Clinton to serve as D.C.'s U.S. attorney. In 1997, Clinton elevated him to the No. 2 job in the Justice Department, and he briefly served as acting attorney general in the Bush administration while nominee John Ashcroft was being confirmed. In 1999, Holder helped convince Republicans to scrap independent counsel investigations, successfully arguing before Congress that wrongdoing by public officials can, and should, be handled by the Justice Department."
Holy cow! I thought the same thing! Great minds and all of that. I'm glad Stedman is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
5Its the black mustache white hair.
6Now the pic, no. They look similar but vastly different.
7"successfully arguing before Congress that wrongdoing by public officials can, and should, be handled by the Justice Department."
I like this!
8Okay, I know the Obama presidency will be historical and groundbreaking, and of course I think it's absolutely amazing that we as a nation overcame centuries-old racial prejudice and elected a half African-American President, but can we please not present his appointments through the lens of race? I know it is great to have a first African-American anything, but presenting it like that just sort of diminishes all of his accomplishments, IMO.
9When I heard he was on the "short list" after the election, I thought he'd be a great choice. I've heard a lot of positive things over the years about Eric Holder.
10Black people, black people (and jews) everywhere...what will the white people think? Have we no concern for their delicacies
?
11omg Jessie.
12I know, I know, I couldn't help it...its all the caffeine and cocoa I'm drinking.
13You're so bad!
14I just don't want this to turn into an "OMG he's promoting black people" discussion, I guess.
15OMG - He is promoting Black people.
16Argh. This is why one shouldn't post while sick.
All I meant is that I think the Obama presidency will have much more to offer than simply the groundbreaking racial stuff, and I just don't think it's productive to overfocus on his appointees' race. I don't think I'm making myself clear, though.
17I imagine one day soon we'll hear that on FoxNews, in a very veiled, painfully nuanced way.
18Jessie, we are crossing our fingers for maybe the chef position in the white house!!! it would be a show of immense trust...
19Don't worry Jude if Obama is smart he'll start promoting Asians, and South Asians, and Middle Easterners and Hispanic people and Ukrainians with thick accents and Italians and Greeks with dark Mediterranean skin and then we can have the greater debate of minorities taking over America from the sheer amount of babies Mexicans are having. Mexicans, they're really taking one for the team to boost are numbers and empower the agenda of placing white people in slavery and subservient positions.
20Man my sarcasm/cynical gear is really in over drive today...but I crack myself up so it's all good.
21Jessie, wtf - how much did you have?
22I don't know CG, you're asking for a lot. Those chefs make quite a bit of money and with the control they have in handling food important people of color eat...I don't know if we can do that. I have to speak to the leader of my organization...hmmm I mean my grandmother.
23You are right Jessie, its just not the same when we make it.
24I'm running on very little sleep, there are window people at my house replacing all of our windows. This is week two and I've been kicked out of my bedroom.
25I dont like window people, you can see right through them. Ba da dum
26
That really wasn't funny, but yet I laugh...
27I give you five steaks out of five for that cheesy joke, CG
28Thank you Jude!
29I said Stedman too!
30That's Stedman. I don't see what's so funny, that's just him.
31Yeah that guy really looks like Stedman. I'm kinda sad that I know who Stedman is, and what he looks like. Go Stedman though for being one of those celebs who have just one name!
32I know Beavis...Oprah is that all consuming we know what her bf's name is and what he looks like, whether we actively watch her show or not.
33Wow. He does look like Stedman-Oprah's old man.
And who cares what race he is. As long as he can get the job done properly then I'm good with him.
34This thread..was win. Pure win!
35Okay, so I quickly skimmed the post and skipped to the comments. And it wasn't until JUST NOW that I realized that Stedman was not, in fact, chosen as attorney general.
I need to pay closer attention to these things, otherwise I'll be starting strange rumors...
36Where's the fun in that? I like to start strange rumors just for sh!ts and giggles. Did you hear that melizzle gets her iron by eating earthworms?
37Hey, at least I don't have a growing ball of belly button lint in my closet like I heard SOMEONE does...
38Earthworms...interesting. Do you dig them up yourself melizzle or do you have a special worm-sniffing dog?
39Those are fighting words.
40Hey maybe I'm iron deficient!
