A Democratic official has confirmed that Sen. Hillary Clinton met with President-elect Barack Obama this morning to discuss her role in his administration.
Clinton's trip to Chicago was described as "personal business" in a press release, but happened after a request from Obama. Rumor has it Clinton is under consideration for the secretary of state position.
Forty-two percent of CitizenSugar readers said the Clintons are still a favorite political family, but 36 percent of reader suspected Colin Powell would be the Secretary of State pick. On Monday Clinton said she is "happy being a senator from New York" and "looking at the long list of things I have to catch up on and do." What do you think about the prospect of Clinton having a place in Obama's camp?

Colin Powell would be an excellent choice. Again.
1She'd be a great addition to his administration.
2Great choice in thinking of picking Clinton. She has a lot of knowledge and understanding of foreign policy.
3I would love to see her in the white house, even if it wasn't the way I had originally intended (I was a huge supporter of her before Obama). It would be nice to see these two working together, and she could certainly lend her experience in the white house to Obama.
4I still need a little more healing time after he didn't even vet her for vice president.
5I am not so sure about her as secretary of state, seriously? I am not so sure on that, the woman voted yes on war in Iraq. Does she care about others? I mean does she really? I am not sold on her.
6Foreign policy isn't a hard subject, sorry i don't think so (though Palin didn't try very hard to read more on it), I think it needs someone who is very sensitive about other beings, i do not get that sense about her.
7organicsugr, I think VP would have been an insult. It's a dead-end position.
She was not my candidate for pres; I was very happy when the party nominated Obama instead.
That said, I'd be more than happy to see her in this role, which is far more important than VP.
I also agree that Colin Powell (who I would SOOOOOO vote for Pres, if he'd run!) would be an excellent choice.
8"I think VP would have been an insult. It's a dead-end position."
Really? What was all the fuss about Palin then?
9I still say Richardson for Secretary of State, but Clinton for something. Maybe Health and Human Services? I know it hasn't been the most important role in the past, but I feel like Clinton could do big things with that position in an Obama White House.
10I think this would be great.
11That's a great idea for Clinton, lil. It actually seems to make more sense for her and her background. I would like to see Powell in the Secretary of State position again. I agreed with him on many, many things he has said and I really respect the way his mind works and thinks about problems, plus having the military background has got to help there too.
12I agree with Lilkimbo and want Richardson as Sec of State. I think Clinton is a wonderful ally, but I think she wants to stay in the Senate now, who knows!
13I think Hillary has a good shot. I'd love to see her in that job.
14I'd rather see her do something domestically, and really think she'd be a great leader in the Senate - a position that she'd be needed in for a very long time.
15I don't know the rules but if she is a part of Obama's administration, I don't know if she could run against him in 2012. Conflict of interest maybe, not sure how all that political stuff works.
16I frankly don't want Hillary anywhere NEAR the white-house, as SOS OR Pres.
17I should think that would be obvious, kranky. McCain would have been the oldest president we've ever had, and she stood a good chance of taking his place as president.
She's got a lot of whack views, especially re: the environment, so I had major issues with her being chosen.
As an aside, my parents (who voted for McCain) do not like Palin, and feel that McCain lost a lot of conservative votes solely because of her.
18"she stood a good chance of taking his place as president."
So it's not a dead-end position, eh? Many VPs have gained credibility in that position and have run for President. Plus, doesn't Cheney run the country anyhow?
19Mykie, didn't you used to be a big Hillary supporter? Or did I just hallucinate that?
20You can split semantic hairs all you wish, kranky.
You know exactly what's being said here, and I'm done aruging with you. The point is obvious.
21NotMe - I honestly did not know that you took the issue so personally. I am sorry if I offended you.
I wasn't splitting semantic hairs. I just don't agree that the Vice President is a dead-end position.
But I am completely fine with agreeing to disagree, and I will remember to tread lightly next time.
22>I still need a little more healing time after he didn't even vet her for vice president.
He didn't have to. She's been in the public eye since 1992. She's vetted.
23I'm excited. I think she would make a great Secretary of State. She's intelligent, tough and experienced.
24I think he needs her in the Senate more so the SOS (Kerry's needed in he Senate also). I like Chuck Hagel, Bill Richardson or Colin Powell.
25experienced with foreign policy???? Hum I missed that somewhere
26At this point, I think Hillary is going to be Secretary of State.
The Obama campaign has been incredibly self-disciplined about not letting leaks get out so the fact that this has been in the news for a full 24 hours without a denial from their camp about their intentions means that they are testing public opinion and global reaction.
Remember how she wasn't seriously vetted for the VP position? That's because the Obama campaign kept squashing expectations about it. They know what they're doing and they know how to play the political game. Expect an announcement very soon.
27Wow mykie, that's quite a flip-flop from when you previously said:
"Since we've lost Hillary, who really WOULD have been the absolute best candidate to run this country at this time, we have to choose from Obama and McCain.
Hillary was the one that said 'I'll fix it whatever it takes' and that's why I liked her. That's why I would have voted for her."

28Oh, good. That means I wasn't hallucinating it, then.
29No Jude C, you were not hallucinating.
30SOS! Please we will need to send out an SOS if she gets the position. Only who will help us?
31She is an awful choice for SOS. After the wonderful legacy of Madeleine Albright, The democrats really need to do better then Hilary. Leaving in a Republican like Colin Powell would be better.
"Clinton for something. Maybe Health and Human Services? I know it hasn't been the most important role in the past, but I feel like Clinton could do big things with that position in an Obama White House."
That's a good idea, lil. Although I must admit, I like Hillary better for the role of SoS than Kerry.
32"I still say Richardson for Secretary of State, but Clinton for something. Maybe Health and Human Services?"
I agree 100%. It seems to me Hillary's passion is focused on family issues like Health Care. It would seem an odd transition to me fpr her to SOS, and I think that Richardson has a lot of experience with international negotiations that would be very useful.
Obama is meeting with McCain on Monday. I think this is great that he is picking the brains of his former competitors. It shows a lot of respect and a lack of ego, IMO.
33I'd like to see her have a role in this administration. So I'd probably be pleased, but if she's not going to be, that's all good too.
34i'd love her to be involved in obama's administration in any way, shape, or form.
35Jude, I support some of Hillary's IDEAS, and I would have rather had HER be the Democratic candidate than Obama, but not because I wanted her to win.
But no, in general I haven't been a huge supporter of Hillary. And with Obama in office, I REALLY don't want her there, but that's another discussion for another time. LOL
36I also like her more for a cabinet position than VP.
But I really want her on the Supreme Court!
However, I think cabinet position is
more her style, so...
37I don't think a spot on the Court is good for someone so high profile. Even though she won't have to run for re-election, she's bound to be more concerned than most with public opinion and both her and her husband's legacy.
38Yes I was hoping for this! Love to see her in Cabinet position. Hilary heal the world and come back in 2012 as the first female President!
39TrueSong- I see your point, but some of the justices have been politicians.
Also, Sandra Day O'Connor was extremely concerned with public opinion, and she was a fantastic justice because that trait kept her very balanced.
40Yes snowbunny, by Sandra Day O'Connor wasn't married to Bill.
41Yeah, but Mykie, you specifically said that she's "the absolute best candidate to run this country at this time," and you mentioned Obama and McCain as the people we had left to choose from, so I really don't see how that equates to wanting her to be the Democratic candidate but not to win. Maybe I'm misunderstanding that quote.
42"We are Americans, and in our America we do not torture, we do not imprison people without charge or legal remedy, we do not tap people's phones and emails without a court order, and above all we do not give any President unchecked power. I pledge to fight to protect and defend the Constitution from attack by any President."
Any person who refuses to sign this would likely be a poor Supreme Court Justice.
43Mykie7, you have me so confused. What about your avi that had the "I voted for Hillary Clinton" picture?
You were a staunch Hillary supporter!?! I am so confused!?!
Were you only a primary supporter and then when the big bid came up you were going to switch to McCain...
Please help me understand thig.
44You know what, I stand corrected. Thanks for pointing that out though, I had forgotten about that period of time. I've learned a lot since then thanks to some great friends and a lot of research on my part, and I'll be the first to point out just how wrong I was.
I wasn't aware how important my words were to you all, it's really flattering that so many of you remember each and every statement I've ever made. I just don't have that much free time on my hands.
45I would like to see her take this position if offered under only one condition. SHE MUST RESPECT HIM. According to The Onion, Nov 5th, she was complaining about him not having a Cabinet already lined up. I feel this was very disrespectful of her.
46I'm with you Heather.
47How does one forget who one passionately supported less than a year ago? And I thought my memory was bad!
Just kidding, Mykie. We all have the right to change our minds, of course.
48
49"According to The Onion, Nov 5th, she was complaining about him not having a Cabinet already lined up. I feel this was very disrespectful of her."
50This is a joke, right?
