Thanksgiving is often looked at as the most stressful holiday of the year. It's typically the first event where family comes together, and as I'm sure we can all attest to, family can be overwhelming and difficult. On the flip side, it's a time where you can see loved ones that you haven't seen for a while, a time to get festive, and a time to break all those diet rules! Since the big day is just a few weeks away, tell me, does this holiday lend itself to anxiety or excitement for you?

I'm so EXCITED!!! can't you tell, I jumped on this blog like a puma! LOL
I can hardly
wait!!
1My kids and I are doing 'our' dinner the day before since they will spent Thanksgiving day with their father and stepmother, stepsister...family.
I! will get to go over to my aunt and uncle's and talk trash with all my best friends! (grown, single-mother cousins and aunts, old high school/college friends and ex-sister/brother in law!!!) Comedy hour day and night at it's finest!
You think I'm crazy?...I'm the quiet, prissy one!
it USED to be my favorite, Now its just stressful. Thanks parents for divorcing and making my life even harder!
2My thanksgiving was last month!!!
3i love it. not only do i get to have a couple days off, but my nana makes the most fantastic lunch and i get to spend some time with the fam.
my boyfriend's birthday also actually falls on turkey day this year, and i know he asked for a few video games... which means, it's like my bday too! hehe.
4Luckily, I will be doing absolutely no cooking, so I'm certainly looking forward to eating. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the 7-8 hour drive to my parents house.
5Excited, although I can't be with my parents this year
and I got invited to several (extended
family) parties, so now I feel bad about just choosing one and turning the rest down
6I am from Canada...so our thanksgiving was in October..but it was stressful for sure...caused a fight with my bf...about family dinners
7Yea, Canadian's have their thanksgiving before Halloween. My boyfriend and I had a very relaxing weekend away with my parents on their yacht. It was fun... I like Thanksgiving.
8I'm excited and anxious. I hope my gravy turns out ok!
9Catepillar, I just realized my kids may be the only kids who are 'thankful' for divorced parents
10party... get...a...strainer! trust me!
11I'll be excited if my morning sickness passes by then. If not, I'll be a little disappointed and a lot nauseous
.
12I'm looking foward to this year's turkey day, but "excited" might be an overstatement (so I didn't vote). Usually we have the big traditional meal with either my or husband's family. That is always a little stressful. I find it stressful being with his family, and when my family is hosting, it's stressful to responsible for a lot of the cooking. This year we are having lunch at a fabulous fancy restaurant at an antebellum home --- just me and husband, my mom and my brother. It's going to be really low key and nice (and delicious).
13For the past couple years it's only been my immediate family (mom, dad, sister, me, my dog lol) so there's no pressure at all. I wish we had a big celebration with all our relatives and/or friends, but I still love Thanksgiving regardless--for all the food, spending time with my family, and although I am thankful for every single day, it's just a great day to be reminded of all I have to be thankful for.
14I am very excited to see my sister and my dogs! The rest of the family kinda stresses me out, but I plan on spending most of my time on the couch with the sis and pups, watching TV, drinking mimosas, and snacking on some yummy vegan food!
15My family is hosting Thanksgiving this year. 20 people for dinner. I'm already feeling the stress. But it will be nice to see everyone and have turkey and mashed potatoes.
16Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday of all. Even more than Christmas. Thanksgiving is about getting together with friends and family, enjoying a great meal, good talk and just being thankful that we CAN all be together. Christmas is about gathering too, but if you throw in the gifts and all that, it becomes a very stressful holiday. Thanksgiving is just to be together.
17Ugh, I have to work.
18Little of both...
19I'm so excited - I love Thanksgiving because I get to visit with all of my family without the stress that Christmas always brings.
20I hate Thanksgiving. Bah humbug.
21Where's my OTHER choice:
"Excited!! But I need to start planning?"
22This will be my first Thanksgiving with the boyfriend's family. My family isn't real big on the holidays, and his apparently LOVES them. So I'm nervous. I hope no one asks me to help in the kitchen, but I'm straight up terrible at following directions with food.
23I don't believe in holidays.
24So excited! Every year we go Disneyland and its awesome! And yeah we're all adults!
25Ohh... now Disneyworld (closer to me) for Christmas. We did it for Christmas 2000 and it was wonderful! (that was before I was divorced and broke lol) I'll consider that for next year though since Christmas is mostly about spending money anyway... I'd rather spend it on making another great memory.
26Thanksgiving is at my house this year and its just my immediate family so even if we burn the turkey and ruin the stuffing it'll still be a good time.
27I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. They're the only two holidays where I get to see most of my family members.
It's not my turn to plan this year, though, so I'm relieved.
28Hey Mesay! LOVE that Avi! hehehehe
29I hate Thanksgiving, it's so boring to me.
30Anxious...but not quite to the extremity that the vote option listed!
Anxious because this is my first holiday away from my own family. I'll be with my future in-laws. And not even just the mom/dad/brother unit, but the ENTIRE aunts/uncles/second cousins she-bang. Also, it'll be in Mexico -- somehow vaction is getting squished in along with huge family reunion and a holiday thrown in! I'm used to casual, fun T-Days at home with just my parents and brother (extended family lives on the opposite coast, so we're usually on our own for the holidays).
I'm excited to be apart of a new family. But it sounds like I'm in for a lot more hoopla than I initially anticipated...
31Excited. I used to hate Thanksgiving, because I used to get stressed at every holiday especially this one...probably because I'm a picky eater and I used to hate turkey. It also seems to be the one holiday where I feel the loneliest because I'm single
32I agree -- a little bit of both.
33Excited to get home and see my friends, work, and shop!
34I like Turkey.
35Californiagirl, no being lonely on Thanskgiving allowed! You come to my house! (I promise we won't discuss AJ) LOL
36I voted "stress" because this year my whole family is coming up from the deep South to NYC for the holiday. We are doing tons of NYC things and that's the busiest time in the city. I am looking forward to it but I know it will be stressful. My sister and BIL have never been to the Northeast and I'm a little worried they'll have culture shock. They're very conservative.
37princess ... I'm from South Carolina and I've been to NYC a few times...we don't get culture shock as much as noise pollution and air pollution. It's cool and all; but frankly, it's the stink you have to get past when you're used to fresh air. And the fact that you have to go 'visit' the trees at Central Park
And you tell us 'don't look up, you'll look like a tourist!' wth? We are, AND that's the only way to see the sky!
(no, it wasn't fun walking back home with a wet butt!)
38Just tell them to bring decent layering winter clothes and not to step on those slippery damn grates in the sidewalk! Save ice skating for Rockefeller!
I am totally looking forward to it! My husband and I do it up. Last year we spent it with pretty depressing relatives. This year we are doing a 100-mile event (bird, produce, etc.), two relatives we really like are flying in to spend it with us, and we have been planning our menu for months.
39Excited! This year my boyfriend is going to meet a lot of my extended family and I can't wait to show him off to them! He's quite charming if I do say so myself
40a little bit of both.
41excited! i'm making some new dishes this year and were having a party the day before for lots of old friends.
42i can't wait to miss class and spend time with friends/family! thanksgiving vacation means winter break is coming up soon! woot.
43Aw thanks Mykie
44Ummm well, I'm Canadian, so my thanksgiving was a month ago. Yes, I did look forward to chillin with my family.
45There should be a both option. I like Thanksgiving, but I hate the hassle sometimes.
That and people start putting their Christmas decorations up around then too. I'm so against putting up Christmas decorations before December.
46I'm excited and anxious. I like Thanksgiving but I'm in a hurry for everyone to leave after about 2-3 hours. Some relatives and friends want to stay all day and night, and that is not for me.
And I've been in a few stores already that look as if they've forgotten Thanksgiving. These stores had Christmas decorations up a week a go. I think you should put Christmas decorations up just before or right after Thanksgiving....not November 1st.
47I'm in college, so I'm praying for Thanksgiving! I need a break!! Of course, there's the inevitable dread afterwards, because then it's finals time. I love the holiday season though, so nothing could dampen my spirit!
48I love holidays and seasons. They're def something to live for. And I love seeing my family and spending time with them, but I voted Stress because I dont like any holiday that revolves around food. I've never really been a big fan of food so the whole big meal part kinda just bums me out. I try to focus more on my fam.
49I am definitely looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. The in-laws will be driving down to stay with us for the weekend, so that means that I don't have to spend two days in a car. Also, I get to plan the Thanksgiving dinner menu, so this year I don't have to eat ham or that weird green marshmallowy jello dish.
