Rahm Emanuel Offered Role of Obama's Chief of Staff

Nov 5 2008 - 12:30pm

Soon after Barack Obama was elected last night, names started floating around regarding his cabinet. His first order of business was finding a chief of staff. This morning, Obama offered the job to Rahm Emanuel, a Democratic Representative from Illinois. Early this afternoon his office denied reports he accepted [1].

Emanuel has been a member of Congress since 2003, when he was elected to represent Illinois's 5th congressional district. He was also a senior advisor to Bill Clinton at the White House from 1993 to 1998. We'll be hearing a lot more about him as the rest of the cabinet news unfolds and Barack Obama assembles his White House team.
