Soon after Barack Obama was elected last night, names started floating around regarding his cabinet. His first order of business was finding a chief of staff. This morning, Obama offered the job to Rahm Emanuel, a Democratic Representative from Illinois. Early this afternoon his office denied reports he accepted.
Emanuel has been a member of Congress since 2003, when he was elected to represent Illinois's 5th congressional district. He was also a senior advisor to Bill Clinton at the White House from 1993 to 1998. We'll be hearing a lot more about him as the rest of the cabinet news unfolds and Barack Obama assembles his White House team.

I like him a lot - he's really funny - and how can we go wrong with the man who is said to be the inspiration for Josh Lyman on the West Wing?
1Who is he? He's hot.
Haha.
2It begins! Hurrah! Give us more!
3GO RAHM!!!
Sorry, he's also my old pediatrician's son, so I have a soft spot for him, remembering all of those pictures I used to see in my doctor's office.
He's a terrific choice, and I'm glad he took the position.
4(indie, he's hotter in person. Ahem).
5indielove - I agree! Hot!
6Yes! Chicago!
7I'm hoping for an uber hot Cabinet, in addition to our hot President and VP(I'm crazy about Joe, haha).
8The question is, is he married?
9Married with kids, y'all.
10DAMMIT.
Haha.
11Hey we can still look.
12
indie, about the "uber hot cabinet"
13"Just because I've ordered doesn't mean I can't look at the menu".
14Give me more! Give me more!
15lol, guys! but agreed, he is hot!
16Who else!!!? Who else?
17I have no idea of who he is either but yet another good looking man joining this govt. Might have to make a trip to Washington next year and hang by the gates of the WH.
18
ceej. You seriously made me laugh out loud! If you're going, let me know and I'll join ya.
19Yeah seriously, as I was writing this post I was like, hmmm....he's a handsome one, won't mind seeing him around

21Obama is really bringing sexy back
.
I thought it was gone forever after Clinton. It would be cool if Citizen or Liberty could post some background info about these cabinet choices, so I could be lazy and not have to go look myself.
22
ceej!
23It's shaping up to be one of the best looking presidential teams in the world. hmm hmm hooray for hot men in politics!!!!!!!!
24Excellent!
This is really happening!
25It's my West Wing fantasies you see, been willing them to come to life.
26I'm with ya, nya.
He's on the ball...it hasn't even been 24 hours since the win!

27I like this pic of him...

28Ok that pic is cute but seeing the kids totally killed all my dirty thoughts:(
29Adorable pic! Cute kiddos. I don't know what it is about seeing a man with his children, having a good time and being attentive, that just warms my heart so very much.
30
ceej!
31awww NYA sorry!
32You all are some dirty women. Shame looking at him like a piece of meat. So, em, do you just stare when you see him?
Go Chicago!!!! I love this town despite our problems.
33He's the inspiration for Josh Lyman? You're kidding me!
34Now we just need a Leo McGarry - although his spot is filled.
"You all are some dirty women. Shame looking at him like a piece of meat."
Guilty as charged?
35sighs
36He was the name being kicked around for a while so I'm not shocked. I dont know much about him, but you all seem to be happy with the choice because
oh. cause he's hot. okay ;P
37Why didn't Obama mention (or leak) his name when people were throwing around the Obama will bring on the Holocaust and the end of Israel rumors - he's an Israeli-American who I think fought in the Israeli Army in '91, is a member of an orthodox jewish community and his father, I think, was a member of some Israel militant group...
Kind of weird he didn't campagin for him or endorse him in FL at least.
38The White House gets hotter by the day...I'm for it!
39Maybe Obama didnt feel like he needed to do that?
40good guestion though...
41I have heard his name and personal-politics-style is supposed to be the opposite of Obama, where Obama is calm, cool, and conversational - he is supposed to be sharp, opinionated, and a fire cracker - which is probably why Obama selected him, sometimes you want someone around who balances out your pros and cons.
I assume he will play the "bad cop" to Obama's "good cop" so Obama maintains that presidential professional demeanor while having someone lay down the iron fist when needed.
42Haha, kind of like a stare and look down sorta deal, bella
Apart from the hotness, I'm happy because he was a big Clinton advisor, and supported a lot of scientific legislature that I admired as well (stem cell research, Rx drugs, etc). I think he's a great choice, and I do remember seeing an interview with him a few weeks ago where a new position for him was hinted at, but, kind of like Biden, he kept mum about it and just said, "I'm happy where I am right now".
43HE HAS NOT ACCEPTED YET - read the article you linked to, Citizen.
44"he is supposed to be sharp, opinionated, and a fire cracker "
I like that!
em: Looks like he's got a killer smile. One that could make ya giggle like a little schoolgirl.
45He has accepted.
46He has done great things here in Chicago. He's great at fund raising and worked on Paul Simon's 1984 election. He has been around for a while.
47indielove - where did you hear the official acceptance?
His office denied the MSNBC report that he has.
48Sorry guys, the article we linked too was changed. He has not accepted yet apparently and the post was updated. Thanks for keeping me on my toes.
49poor Molly - no rest for you these days!!!
