Barack Obama hasn't been directing many resources to Arizona all along, but the campaign still thinks they have a good chance of winning McCain's home state. The last candidate to lose his state was Al Gore; Tennessee didn't go blue for its native son.

This past weekend the Obama camp asked supporters to donate money to help expand efforts in "new battlegrounds" including Georgia, North Dakota, and Arizona. But with surely enough money to get started before new funds came in, Obama began airing ads in Arizona on Saturday. In addition, Howard Dean is spending his last day before the election campaigning in McCain's home turf.
As of now, polling shows McCain ahead in Arizona by anywhere from five points to as close as one point. During the last few days before the election both candidates have been campaigning hard in states their parties lost in 2004. Do you think there could be some surprises tomorrow?

I think there might be a couple of surprises depending on turnout, but nothing huge. I think McCain will win Arizona, Georgia and Indiana.
1As long as Obama wins the elction I'm not fussed about what states he wins or loses. Mccain needs a consolation prize so he probably should win in Arizona.
2It's all these mother fracking idiot Obama supporters up here in Flagstaff (the very same ones who have smashed windows on campus for having McCain/Palin stickers and throw full cups of coffee at roadside "Honk for McCain!" rallies) who are being polled. People call Flagstaff an town full of moron, militant hippies for a reason. Grown ups don't live in Flagstaff, overgrown idealistic children do. (And I cannot wait to get out of here once I graduate)
3I think McCain will win a lot more than people will think - I see him winning all the swing states (FL, NV, OH, IN, NM, SD, MO)
The race will be decided by West Virgina, Colorado - and I think McCain has a decent shot there, especially if he picks up NH which is not that out-there or PA, which he made up some real ground in in the last few days (went from 12pts to 7pts).
McCain could win and it would not be a huge shock to me, at least not as mig of a surprise as the media will make it.
4...and I'm sure Flagstaff will be happy when you graduate, too.
5Well I am sure they cannot wait for you to leave chaton. Just because someone chooses a candidate different from you does not make them a hippie or you a grown up( which was just proven by your post). And who in the world still uses hippie, this is 2008 not 1968.
6PS chaton it's people like who give conservatives a bad name and a bad reputation.
7Everyone calls themselves hippies in this town nyaradzom. It's a point of pride. Their candidate choice makes no difference in whether they're a grown up. The trustafarians in this town are adultchildren who have never had a real job, and just live off what their mommies and daddies made for them.
I'm a little bitter at Obama supporters. I have a job I have to do. I have to serve people their food and their drinks. I have to walk by other customers to do it. I told someone I'm undecided, because even though I'm voting for Obama, it's not her business AT ALL to ask her bartender/waitress who she's voting for. She spent the next FOUR HOURS of my evening trying to indoctrinate me every single time I walked by. For four freaking HOURS. I had a lot going on that night, and I frankly did not have time to have her try and tell me how great Obama is.
I love how my calling everyone up here an idiot means I'm conservative. Far from it!
8I was in Pennsylvania this weekend and all I saw was ObamaBiden buttons and signs. And if the Steelers win tonight Obama will win too!
9I'm sure they'll be thrilled to have me out of here, em1282! I'm moving to a city where liberal ideals meet up with actually doing something about them, rather than sitting around at dive bars and WHINING about how nothing gets done and never taking action, like they do here in Flagstaff.
10Chaton- How do you feel about Cindy McCain and her mommy and daddy's money that supplies her the lifestyle her and John enjoy?
11it's very very surprising that you would be voting for obama chaton, because your first post just totally did not read that way at all.
12I'm sure there will be a few surprises, but as long as the final outcome is the one I'm rooting for, that's fine.
13I think most of the people voting for him here are morons. I ask them why, and they can't give me ONE solid reason. I've yet to hear one solid reason anyone up here who's talking politics supports him, including the four hour tirade from my customer. She's voting for him because her father has cancer, and never bothered to get a health insurance policy, even though it's offered (and partially paid for) by his employer. They tell me that his plans have nothing to do with socialism. They tell me outright lies about McCain's policies. (My favorite is that it'd only give me $500 a year for health care. I've researched it. I frankly support McCain's healthcare policy more, but that isn't my number one priority) Someone told me that the reason her boyfriend's business is going out of business is McCain's economic policies. I can tell you why they're going out of business, and it has nothing to do with John McCain. There are A LOT of reasons to support each candidate. The people up here are f*cking idiots who have no concept of WHY anyone would support either, they just get caught up in the propaganda. And I'll be honest, Obama has some awesome propaganda up here.
The fact that nearly everyone up here is an idiot who does nothing but whine about "change" doesn't mean that I don't support him.
14I'm not expecting any huge surprises: lots of voting, some cheating and at the end of the evening, a definitive Obama victory.
15I'm enjoying this thread. An attack on any Obama supporter apparently is an attack on all Obama supporters. Solidarity forever, my communist friends.
16
17I have no idea what's going on. So I'll just say hi and move on.
18Chaton- are you sure you're not voting for McCain?
You shouldn't base your opinion on all Obama voters based on your experience with a few of them.
19exactly roarman. Both sides have idiots who clearly make up things as they go but I doubt that every person there is as dumb as you are making it seem and this is the first time i've met someone who is such an anti-supporter. It's just random.
20I think most of the people voting for him here are morons.
21I'll concede Arizona to McCain but I think Obama will win Virginia and North Carolina.
22I am fighting the urge to give McCain some Nintendo controllers in that picture.
23Idiot Obama supporters? You know what? There are idiots on both sides, dear.
I was reading an article on Fox news (i know, i know....) but anyway, decided for kicks to look at the comments. I was shocked. I thought their comments were moderated, but they are not. People were saying the most racist, ignorant, ugly things. Saying things like, "Obama will not win because he is not the same color as Jesus" amongst many other racist, and very stupid, uneducated things. It was awful and reminded me why I hate that dreaded Faux news station.
24Ah here we go again "Idiot Obama Supporters", "moron militant hippies"...
I would hope you don't mean everyone who doesn't vote, or think like you, else you will totally shatter Organic Sugar's solidarity accusation seeing as it appears to go both ways and he's only accused "the others" (scary music) of it.
Does this mean I have to give up my (decidedly NON-hippie, techie) job, my MENSA membership and university education (not that I have never known any morons in University - quite the contrary, any good frat house will reveal at least 2 under a piece of furniture on Sunday morning) and my (don't have any) fatigues and protest signs and (don't have any) tie dye t-shirts and (have lots) stop wearing deodorant?
Sorry, just want to make sure I fit into the stereotype we supposedly communist-socialist-psychopathic-liberal-fruitloops all follow so that you can feel even more self-righteous about yourself, honey.
25Also, I hope this means I don't have to start eating Quorn, do any chanting or make peace signs.
(I will discreetly remove my satanic ritual worship (lolno) material from my (neat and tidy) filthy liberal flat full of (family photos)Che Guevara posters and (black metal) REM albums.
26Personally, I threw my well-worn copy of the Communist Manifesto across the shared sleeping room of my commune when I read those comments.
27Then I chanted "Change" and "Yes We Can" until I felt better.

29Who doesn't love Che?
30I love Che, its better than regular tea.....oh thats Chai. My bad.
31Who doesn't love chai?
32
33Now i know what that picture reminds me of!
34okay its so ghetto but i did that in about 5 seconds.
35It has a certain raw intensity.
36Oh my, I love Chai!!!
37Oh yay, I love Che!!!
38EYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
39I once asked someone who was wearing a Che Guevara shirt whether or not he knew the person on his shirt. He actually responded "Yeah, Cesar Chavez".
40Oh dear lord em. That's hilarious.
41Once when my sis was in high school, she was annoyed when kids would wear Bob Marley shirts and not even know a thing about him. They would just refer to him as 'the weed man'. Dude, wtf?
42I am so excited for tomorrow. I think there will definitely be surprises. My only hope is that it's a clean win on either side. I don't want any drama like 2000.
I just cannot wait for this to all be over! I kinda wish we could all magically show up at a big CitizenSugar party tomorrow to drink away our sorrows or our happiness. Ah well.
43Well, at least the guy was pro-United Farm Workers, harmony. Er, I'm assuming?
indie--"the weed man"? That makes it sound like he was their drug dealer.
44Yeah. They just wanted to look cool but they're still as clueless as ever.
45i'm up for a few surprises, as long as it's not a MAJOR surprise (as in a comeback).
in all seriousness, i do think there will be a few surprises; though one could argue that at this point, nothing is expected.
46No class tomorrow, no work tomorrow, so I'm devoted to the news tomorrow and my paper can wait.
47I agree jenintx. If the past two elections have taught us anything it is to expect the worst when it come to elections. Boy do I sound like a cynic or what?
48I have no school work due to interfere with my election day/night obsession that I will have tomorrow. If only I didn't have to work.
49I unfortunately have three classes, a test, and a test review. I'm not happy about that. I would skip out on my math class but I don't think that's a good idea.
