A bunch of my girl friends have this theory about Halloween. According to them, if you've been dating someone but aren't sure whether you want to be with them or even if it's going anywhere, then Halloween marks a pivotal time. You either have to cut it off right now or you'll be stuck with them through the entirety of Winter. Admittedly it's a generalization and more directed at people who haven't officially committed yet, but I do think there’s some truth to the idea that people like to avoid a breakup during the holidays. So let’s hear it ladies: Are my girlfriends crazy or does the idea of being trapped until after the New Year ring true to you too?

I dont get it.

They are not crazy. I just broke things off with a guy because I would rather be alone during the holidays and didn't see the relationship getting serious enough to do the holiday thing together EVER. But, I can't say that I would stick with someone just to avoid a break-up during the holidays. That's just weird, going through the motions, knowing you want to break up after New Years. That's jacked.
