- 50% of Doctors Give Placebos:
A nationwide study just found that half of all American doctors routinely prescribe placebos. Studies in other countries have found similar results. The most common placebos prescribed are headache and vitamin pills, though stronger drugs have been faked too. 95 percent of doctors prescribing them don't identify them as fake, leading to ethical and trust issues. - ACORN's Tally Hugely Overstated:
Though the community organizing group ACORN stated they had registered 1.3 million new voters, the real number is actually closer to 450,000. The overstated count is due to already registered voters changing their address, and 400,000 registrations rejected by election officials, a faulty rate of 30 percent. - Obama's Fundraising Drops 50%:
Obama reports spending $105 million in the first two weeks of October, while raising $36 million during the same period — a reduction of 50 percent from September. Obama and the DNC have approximately $95 million left. McCain and the RNC report $84 million on hand with restricted spending coming from accepting public financing. McCain is currently spending approximately $1.5 million per day.

How much is Obama spending a day?
1I think I read somewhere that he is spending about 15 million a day or something insane like that. Let me see if i can find the source.
2This article has specifics about how much each candidate is spending.

3Thanks, kastarte2.
4The placebo thing makes sense and is scary at the same time. I hate when doctors just assume you are crazy. I was having horrible chest pains and other abdominal issues. But because I was young and healthy they just kept telling me it was anxiety and giving me anxiety and depression medication, even though I don't have depression. I went to 4 different doctors with the same result. Finally, I had surgery to remove a close to softball size tumor that was growing on my ribs, diaphragm and abdominal wall. Thank God I had the opportunity to keep trying doctors till I knew what was ailing me was fixed.
5Prescribing placebos is seriously dangerous, seriously illegal, and morally condemnable. I think it's just a symptom of the uncalled for amount of trust and responsibility we have given the doctors in this country to tell us what is best for our bodies.
6We've given doctors the monopoly on prescription medications. It's never surprising that doctors make unilateral decisions when people can't medicate themselves.
7Yeah we should allow patients to prescribe meds for themselves. If you are sick often, then you know what you need, and it ain't no placebo. You need the good stuff, the amoxicillin or whatever.
8The placebo article is really scary and upsetting. I had no idea this was happening - call me naive. I always thought placebos were for clinical trials but to actually prescribe that without a patient's knowledge and consent is unethical and disturbing.
9How many of those placebos are prescribed by patriarchal doctors to those pesky histrionic women?
