In a class reunion of sorts between two SNL alums and two of the most recognizable and/or popular political impressions, last night's Thursday edition had Bush meeting Palin — for an endorsement of a very special kind.
Asking where McCain was to receive this special blessing and waxing on the experience of his last eight years in office, "Bush" said, "George Bush always finds his man, save for one huge exception." He went on, complimenting Fey-lin on her folksiness, saying, "For a while I was trying to be folksy, but after a bit, it just came off 'douchey'" Do we say that? Does the fake president say that about the real one?
With a higher level nod to perhaps the perception of his own VPs role, the faux-Bush said the job was important because the Veep, "decides when we go to war, how we tax the citizens, and how we interpret the Constitution." When McCain enters, Bush is bound and determined to get his endorsement in, regardless of McCain's reluctance — which I guess is satire, but I watched the real one back in March. . . I think "similarities" is the word we'd use. Though Will's Bush has a tinge of Ricky Bobby now, it was nice to see him back.
While Pat Buchanan has some strong words for what he sees as a double-standard when it comes to the show's mockery, what did you think of the ersatz endorsement?

1That was some funny sh*t!!
This may have been the funniest one yet.
2Eh. Honestly, I thought it was boring. Then again, I couldn't pay much attention because I was dealing with an attack bug.
3I thought it was boring as well.
4LOVED it
5i thought it was hilarious
6i think its pretty funny because it hits on something we all know to be true - that's the best type of satire. well done.
7Did anyone else think this one went a bit beyond normal snl satire that rips on Repubs - you know, like it had a little more criticism than satire.
That said, I love the Will Ferrell Tina Fay match up and it was very funny, especially the bit with Todd out mavericking the maverick - I would actually watch SNL if the show what just them with some breaks for weekend update.
8i loved it!! it makes me miss the days of snl when it was really funny!!
9That was HILARIOUS!!
10Hilarious...but in a very scary kind of way, I'll just be happy it really isn't a Bush/Palin ticket.
11Hilarious, but I definitely don't wish for a Palin/Bush ticket. God, I can't even think about that.
As for the rest of last night's SNL, it was the worst I've ever seen. The weekend update was just sad, Keenan's "FIX IT" skit was worse than unimaginative, the "playing with the election map" thing was moronic... it was like there was a writer's strike going on, but I don't think there was. SNL was either unbelievably lazy or cheap, or one of their writers is a 3 year old. I don't get it.
12HA!!! I LOVED IT!
13Oh man - Thank goodness for Palin because I thought it would be hard to top Bush's hilarity. It was nice to see an impression of him before he's officially out.
14SP should be on SNL's payroll. She's done more for that show than anyone else. They should be thanking God that their show was actually relevant for a few weeks.
15"SP should be on SNL's payroll. She's done more for that show than anyone else."
I agree. SNL hadn't been funny for years. They owe her a slice of the pie.
16SP should work for NBC. She is certainly more qualified for that than for VP.
17I thought that was hysterical!
18That was awesome. So funny! Each sketch just keeps getting better
19I didn't watch the rest of SNL so I don't have an opinion on that. But the Fey/Ferrell skit was hilarious. I thought my husband was about to have a heart attack when Fey raised her skirt a little though. My goodness. lol
20It was pretty funny. It made me miss seeing Will Ferrell on SNL. But I would NEVER want a Bush/Palin administration, even if it meant funnier sketches on SNL.
21that was pretty funny!
22Will Ferrell was good. It's good to have him back as Bush right now.
23I thought it was funny, but where is the Obama/Biden bashing? It seems a little one sided.
24I don't necessarily think it is SNL's job to be fair and unbiased. They are allowed to have an agenda if they want.

Kas...I always hear that, but conservative comedians are free to start
their own SNL's or Daily Shows, or Colbert Reports or Rachel Maddow segments. Its not Liberals faults that there is a lack of representation in that arena. These people aren't regular
journalists, they don't owe us an unbiased perspective.
26I just think it would be more funny if it were better balanced. That's all. Colbert is funny bc although we know he is a pseudo-republican, he still pokes fun at the democratic party.
27loved the skit!!!! ;].
