That is just so ignorant and dumb to write something like that. i love how people like to speculate on what someone "would have done" to furthur thier pointless point.
1With regards to the Politico article, as much as I would love to think that if Obama wins Virginia he has it in the bag, I think it would be incredibly premature to call the whole race when their polls close if he is ahead there. That is just crazy talk. I have a feeling that the pre-election polls are going to be inaccurate this year based on the fact that members on both sides are exciting folks that haven't voted in previous elections. To assume that if he takes Virginia, he takes it all would be to assume that all the other states that they expect to go blue will go blue.
I want him to win, I just don't want to count those chickens too early.
2Me too CG. And how would they even know that Obama's mom still would've terminated the pregnancy even if it were legal?
And I'm kinda unsure about Palin on SNL. It might be too uncomfortable to watch. Or it'll be like a train wreck I can't turn away from.
3That Obama was pegged for abortion article was ridiculous. HOw could this man even presume to know what Barack's mother would have chosen? Calling the election before all the polls have closed is unwise. I will not watch SNL because I have to be up at 5 am on Sundays. Too late for me.
4LOL! at Palin on SNL. I found out Josh Brolin, the guy who plays "Dubya" will be hosting. I hope they do a funny skit with him and her!!!!!!!
5I want to watch SNL because I don't really see how they're going to do it...the thing that makes Tina Fey so funny as Sarah Palin is that Sarah Palin gives them all sorts of material to use. I don't get what would be funny about Sarah Palin acting like Tina Fey because Tina Fey doesn't do and say dumb things...maybe if it's Sarah Palin making fun of herself somehow, that could be funny. It will be fun to see what they actually do.
6I agree Caterpillar Girl, how would they even know that Barack's mother would have chosen to abort him even if it were legal? I started reading Obama's book, Dreams from my Father, and it seems that Barack's mother truly loved his father and that she wanted the baby. Maybe it says something different in later chapters and I just haven't gotten there yet, but that is not what I have taken away from his book so far. Anyway, I think the point is moot anyway...Barack is here and that's all that counts.
I can't wait to watch SNL! I'm interested to see what Sarah Palin will be doing on that show.
7They probably don't know anything about Barack's mother, so they shouldn't write things like that.
8Maybe Bristol loves Levi and can't wait to marry him and have this child. hmmm....
9that politico thing is stupid. no one should be calling the race already. thats the last thing we need for people to get complacent and think the race is won - it's not! must be a slow news day.
10That Nat Review author is disgusting.
11But who cares, I am still on a high from the humor at the Al Smith dinner last night.
I will not pop my champagne cork at the first sign of a win in Virginia. I am too worried.
12"Wouldn't John McCain and the Republicans be much better off if Barack Obama had been aborted?"
Presumably, the answer to that question is yes. They can't know that Obama's mother would have terminated the pregnancy. What a stupid argument.
13Is it any more stupid than people saying that Palin's daughter and her boyfriend are being forced to do anything? It is all just speculation. Why didn't that get this kind of outrage and disbelief?
14I read a really nice article about Obama's mother. She adored her children. Her friends talked about how much she loved and talk about Barack. Why do people feel the need to write these kinds of stories? Also, does the writer really think that no woman aborted a child during that time?
15No one touching my statement?
16It is insensative GS.
17The article not you.
18Can't we discuss this without having to talk about Sarah Pailn as well?
19Well, GS you were "outraged" by people assuming Levy and Bristol were having a shotgun wedding, no? Does the assumption that Ann would have aborted Barack if abortion had been legal also make you outraged?
20I like how these special interests take ownership of individual intent to serve their purpose. How the hell does Ed Whelan know what Baracks mothers intent was or for that matter how the hell does anyone know what Bristol Palin's intent was?
21Yes it does, it's stupid speculation with not even a smidgeon of truth or fact.
22Does that reach across party lines both ways? Doesn't seem too.
23I guess the assumption is that Baracks mother lived in a different where most women didn't go to college, hell most Americans didn't, and people got married and started families sooner, leaving nothing to speculate about.
While no one knows any facts for sure about Bristol (I just realized how ugly a name that sounds to MY ears) and Levi (? Man these kids don't even have celebrities for parents to explain those names) except for Bristol and Levi, the circumstances (their age, our current culture, his dropping out of school, her mothers conservative beliefs and political obligations to the campaign, etc.) of their relationship leave a lot to speculate about.
24*lived in a different time
25I agree with Jessiebanana (except I like the name Levi...Bristol is alright). I think the reason is because abortion wasn't legal back then and it was more commonplace for people to get married young, especially if a woman became pregnant. Barack's parents were both in college when they get married...his mother was 18 and his father was 23 i believe. Bristol and Levi haven't even finish high school for one thing, and I think people assume that Bristol's mother's personal beliefs played a role in her choosing to keep the baby and get married to the father. Truth is, we do not know if it was Bristol's decision or not but it doesn't really matter, does it? She's keeping the baby and they are getting married, I guess time will tell if their marriage lasts. I hope it does, I wouldn't root for them to fail. I just don't see how this is the same situation...
26Sigh. That is sad.
27How can you justify one and not the other. That is crazy.
28I am not justifying one or the other. I don't think teen marriage is a good idea in general...but getting married and starting a family in your late teens in 1960 is different than in 2008. How does that make me crazy?
Honestly, I am not thinking about this from a "party" point
of view, and I don't think Sarah Palin should be brought into this conversation.
29GS- I think it's incorrect to say that Bristol doesn't want to have her baby or to marry levi, because no one can know her feelings on the subject. However, it IS accurate to say that she is being forced to have her baby (whether or not she wants to) because of her mother's very public stance on the subject.
I'm not saying she wouldn't have it if she had the choice... but the point is that she doesn't have the choice. Barack Obama's mother didn't have a choice either, and we can't say what she would have done if circumstances were different.
30Is he saying that sine she was a single woman she would've had an abortion. I know plenty of low income single women who go ahead with their pregnancies in 2008. We are all lucky to be alive, however I'm pretty sure if Ann/our mothers had decided to have an abortion Barack/we wouldn't care because he/we wouldn't be here to care.
The funny thing is I hear many pro-lifers give that argument all the time, that women may have aborted future leaders, well let's thank our lucky stars this one wasn't.
31Here we go again. Lots of posturing.
32That first article is disgusting! They are suggesting that Obama's mother didn't want him and she had no other choice. How the f*ck would they know she didn't want the baby?? SEE this happens when you're desperate!!!
33bombs away....

35I've posted an appropriate picture CG. We just have to wait...
