Sure, we've all been single and gone without sex for a few months, maybe even years. But when you're lucky enough to find someone you care about, you finally get to share all the intimacy you want with that person. I'm not saying you have to have outrageous sex every night, but you definitely enjoy each other's company a few times a week. Unfortunately, sometimes our busy lives get in the way of that affectionate time, and as a result, some couples end up going a while without getting it on.

So I am wondering, what's the longest amount of time you've ever gone without sex while being in a relationship? A few days? A few weeks? A few months? Did it upset you to have a break from sex, or were you too busy or stressed to even think about it?

Since I'm in a LDR, we're an hour apart due to me being at college, I only see him on weekends.. so we usually have sex then. The only time we've gone without sex is when we've been fighting or once we went about 3 weeks because I was not in the mood, I guess a little dry spell.
1A few months. We would probably be asexual if we didn't want to reproduce.
2A FEW DAYS.
CAN'T BE WITHOUT SEX. LOL.
BUT WHEN I WAS SINGLE, MAYBE LIKE A MONTH.
3Just my high school beau, I was too young for sex.... But in a committed relationship I think sex should be pretty much everyday. Single- I'm mother Teresa...married, long-term committed, Dr. Ruth.

4I was in love with a guy, but we didn't come close to having sex, however, he had sex all the time.
I've definitely gone a while before. It happens to the best of us. It was a mix of hormones and stress and and stress and stress. It'll do a number on your sex drive!
5A couple months - it was really weird transitioning into living together. We had sex only a couple times a month, but now that we're both working and out of the house and miss each other, it's a lot more often. Although I have thyroid problems that are currently giving me two gd periods a month, so I think he's actually getting almost as much head as sex
6Several months - it's how my last relationship ended. The breaks between just kept getting longer, and then it stopped altogether.
7The longest we went without sex was 1 month because i was studying abroad in cambridge.
8I'm in a long-distance marriage. My husband is a physician in his residency, and I'm getting my Ph.D. in science and work 90+ hours/week in the lab. Since we both work 7 days a week, we sometimes go 6-8 weeks without seeing each other because of how our schedules work out, and then when we do see each other, we're totally exhausted and just want to sleep. Enough said.
9In a past relationship, a couple months I think, we were 4+ hrs. long distance. In my relationship now...a couple hours, LOL LOL.
10For 2 months; I had to go home for summer break, and so did he, and our homes were 6+ hours away from each other. Add in the fact that my parents threw a fit at even the mention of a visit unsupervised by parents (EVEN THOUGH WE'RE IN COLLEGE!), and you can bet we couldn't stay away from each other when we got back! (Really, it would have been 4, but he was able to sneak a visit in during the summer my parents didn't know about. Hee hee.)
11I think my ex and I went a atleast a month without having sex. But the relationship was fizzling out at that point. We were living together and barely even speaking, much less having sex.
12couple of months and eventually break it off... You know when you feel so disgusted with the other person, seeing him once more is tiresome let alone getting it on..
13The longest we have gone is 2 months...after my ectopic pregnancy and emergency surgery to remove it. I just wasn't up to it and he understood completely.
143 months.
15My husband left for Paris on Sept 15. I visited him from the 10th to the 14th of October. That first almost-month was hard - but the fact that I won't see him until Dec 3 is worse. I don't know what I am going to do.
16I feel like my boyfriend and I are going though a "dry spell" right now. We do it about once a week. I guess whenever we see each other at the end of the day we are tired and worn-out. I am concerned though, but he insists nothing is wrong, he just isn't in the mood. Who knows...
17the longest we went without was 10 weeks and that was for NFP purposes. It about drove us crazy too lol.
18the longest we went was about two months. i was in a car accident and got a broken femur out of the deal. it took me two months of therapy to be able to spread my legs far enough! and even then it still hurt like hell haha. we still "played" around quite often but it was terrible for both of us
19I went for 18 months in a 2.5 year relationship whilst mostly living with the guy because... he was a Christian. Then he decided that sex before marriage was probably OK and urgh... I wish he hadn't of bothered.
Waste of my time! I wouldn't be in a relationship with somebody now without regular sex... that's just a friendship after all!
20my husband and i went 10 days once, and i almost went crazy. it wasn't either of our faults - one would have to wake up early in the morning, we'd have an argument before bed, one or the other would be too tired - but i couldn't handle it. sleeping in the same bed with him and NOT doing it is worse than being alone.
21I wanted to wait till I was in love with someone before I gave up my virginity. So I was with my ex for 4years and we never had sex, we let the relationship go on long after it was dead.
But with my fiance? We have sex whenever we feel like it.. I don't count the days that pass between
22Single like 6 months...now that I'm in a happy relationship it depends... Usually it's a few days but sometimes it's a week and a half, depending on our schedules and moods.
23The most we have gone is 2 weeks, only because I live 3 hours away and we visit each other every other weekend. but then we do it everday we are together haha. I also do it regardless of my mood. BUT starting mid April I am cutting him off until our honeymoon in late May! lol, he has agreed, but has refused to stop for more than that! lol
246 months with my now husband...it was the last 6 months before we were married and we made a promise not to...which was hard sometimes when we lived together and slept in the same bed but it was so worth it! The wedding night and all the days following have been that much more special!
25A few weeks.
26We are in a LDR and right now we are at the two month mark. This is strictly due to work getting in the way of us being able to see each other. Can't wait for the political season is over!
27two weeks.
28Ditto on about two weeks (in 3.5 years together). Now that we live together, it's easier to think, "I'm tired, he's had a long day, we'll get to it later this week." It's when I've told that to myself a couple of times that I pounce on him and go at it. I think the physical part of a relationship is really important (shows affection, relieves stress, etc). So I'll initiate even if I'm not completely up for it -- and always end up enjoying myself.
29Wow, everyone here is in the day to month range. I dated a Baptist guy who was waiting to have sex and we were together for a year and a half. Luckily everything else was amazing or I wouldn't have lasted very long. Ironically enough, the religion differences are what broke us up! What a waste, eh?
30"Sure, we've all been single and gone without sex for a few months, maybe even years."
Actually, no I haven't. I lost my virginity at 14 and have had a boyfriend ever since. The longest I've been without sex was 2 weeks while my highschool boyfriend was in Europe.
31Hmmm...probably 3 weeks. It's sad to say but since we got married and moved in together it's been a lot less often. Hopefully, it's just an adjustment period of our lives and we'll get back at it!
32About 2 weeks, mainly due to health issues, but usually we go a day or two or three.
33My guy and I tend to have sex a couple of times every weekend because we are both too tired during the week. Lately I feel like we've hit a dry spell, we're only having sex maybe once a week now. Do any of you ladies have any ideas to spice things up? Is this normal?
34Oh, also I waited 4 years to have sex with someone. But it doesn't really count because it was my first time. So it wasn't like I went without...
35I ended the relationship after six months of nothing. He was on tour but didn't want me to visit, and I found his marriage certificate online.
36i don't even want to really think about this one - but i know that it's been weeks or even months that we haven't had sex. it's one of those things that when you work a lot of hours and you don't have the energy when you get home, it's nothing against the other person - but it happens. that doesn't mean that my fiance and i aren't really into each other...but sometimes it just goes to the backburner.
37My current boyfriend has a right inguinal hernia, or essentially his organs have come out of his stomach lining and are falling down into his testicles, sometimes it looks like he has three testicle. We're waiting for him to get his operation, but until then he can't do anything without some serious pain! Even after his surgery he has a 4-6 week recovery period, So I'm stuck without sex for the next 3 months!
38I actually broke it off with my fiance because of this, we were together for about two years, and for the first two months, the sex was great and often, but after that we've had sex about two times a month, tops. So I think, perhaps a month, a month and a half without, while living together and nothing particular going on at work, school or elsewhere. He told me that now that he was sure he had me, he didn't have to have sex with me to keep me any more. Obviously, this relationship couldn't last.
39I can and have gone with it for a while. I don't feel bad for him I have to make sure I am happy and comfortable. Ever since I turned 30 years old, my desire for it let the building. It is like I don't need it to survive. I told him that he knows what it is like now before we even get married, so he knows what to expect. He understands me, and gives me my space.
