Obama would be a much better president then McCain would be. It doesnt matter who's been in the whitehouse for the past 8 years.

I don't think it was over before it began, but the conservative candidate is a huge underdog, given the last two years.

Sure he had a lot to explain regarding the last 8 years of a republican in the white house, but he also didn't offer much change and that's what people are needing and wanting.

McCain is doing well given the circumstances of the Bush presidency. I'm not completely counting him out.

Well, yes. The housing bubble didn't burst really, until about 2 years ago, and from my view, that was the catalyst for our current ecconomic problems. If that hadn't happened, I'm thinking we are in a very different place as a country, and John McCain has a much better chance to win.

I don't think it's fair to say that the White House was never within his reach. He just may not end up being the right candidate to keep it for the Republicans.

McCain is the last person we need in the White House. I hope Obama keep coming out ahead. McCain looks so sad in each debate that they've had.

I'm still nervous... I'm for Obama but polls don''t mean anything. Until the election is completely over and all the votes counted there's still a chance for McCain.

I actually think that on balance, a struggling economy should have helped the Republicans. The problem is that McCain personally isn't really strong in this arena. His message has been all over the map, and some of his policy just flies in the face of conservative ideas.

Now, let's just pretend the Republicans had chosen someone who was strong on the economy. I don't know much about Romney but I've heard he would have been a good choice in this respect.

Right now the economy seems to have eclipsed Iraq in terms of focus. I really think that if the Republicans had a strong economic candidate they could be capitalizing on all the independent voters right now and could win.

He still can win though. Polls are misleading.

I think the current economy, war, etc. is not helping McCain, however there are still many ignorant Americans out there that think Obama is a Muslim terrorist. Unfortunately, I don't think we can count out a McCain win.

Steph that is such a cop out attack. I truly don't see how anyone who understands our consitution or basic money skills can think Obama would be anything but devastating to our country. There is no positive model for this kind government growth.

I think the last eight years have been devastating to the country's standing in the world, our unity, our economy, our education system our health system - and I think Obama's vision for the future is less of a risk than continuing as we have. That's simply my evaluation.

No one wins when someone argues that the other side is ignorant just cuz they are pissed their side didn't win. All that does is divide.

I'm saying that if McCain wins its not because people are ignorant or racist. Its because more people consciously chose him.

Yeah, voting for McCain is a conscious choice. I'm sure none of his supporters are racist and couldn't possibly vote for a man who roughly has 50% of African ancestry in his genetic makeup. I'm also sure that none of the people who will vote for McCain don't have unnerving allegiances that fall down party lines. Let's not forget that no one will vote for McCain because he has a HOT(*throws up*) hockey mom on his ticket. ALSO, not a singular McCain supporter will vote for him just because he is a 'war hero' therefore automatically making him a TRUE American not like that arugula-eating, elite Arab named Barack Hussein Obama.

I never thought I'd be supporting hausfrau, but indielove I do believe you misinterpreted her comment. She was just saying that people will vote for McCain because they LIKE him. Not because he was the default to a black candidate or because they're ignorant of the issues.
She was backing that information up by saying only 6% of people wouldn't vote for him because he's black, compared to the 9% that will vote because he is. All she was saying was that he was not at an disadvantage. She wasn't implying she supports racism. If she was trust me I would know.

Now unfortunately I believe that the 6% of people who wouldn't for him because he is black probably live in concentrated areas and unfortunately have strength in numbers because of the electoral college. A system designed for America when were separated by communication and smaller populations

But I won't let my anger about our outdated voting system system consume me. Maybe after this country gets out of crisis mode we can discuss that.

I think some people will take in consideration the republican administration of the last eight years and the fact that they, like a lot of people, are unhappy with how things are going. but considering how many democrats and republicans liked mccain at the beginning, I don't think it was over before it began. and this election won't be over till every vote is counted and till then, mccain still has a chance, unfortunately .
