Everyone needs to stop jinxing it!! I'm so nervous for this election...I'm afraid I'll get my hopes up just to have them trampled and stomped and beat into the ground.

We all know the election isn't really over until November 5th ( or after.....???) stop prematurely announcing people victors ugggh!

I also agree with Steph..the Palin Oval office post was not looked upon as presumptiveness..but the tone of this post sounded like it was..(which I agree that it is) but yea..when u compare the two posts they are basically looking at a same situation differently

It's just in poor taste and not good journalism to "pick a side" unless it's and OpEd piece. Hell even Marie Claire knows better the November Issue has an interview with both Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain when 20/20 did their overview of the candidates they gave them equal time.

Then the article begins.. that makes me feel MUCH better. That is different then what just the title makes it out to be.

Biden always makes me cry when he talks about the women in his life.. esp his first wife and his wife now Jill or his mom (MomMom).. And when his boys talk about Jill. This quote always gets me.

Vogue did an article on Cindy McCain last summer. That's where I learned that she is a size 0. Actually, it was a pretty good article. I don't think Vogue is picking sides--it's a fashion magazine. They care what the candidates (and their wives) are wearing and will say nice things about both sides.

One, it's Vogue, not the Economist.

Two, well, doesn't the newest poll put Obama fourteen points up, three weeks out? And 538 has him ahead on the electoral college by like 160. I don't think it's that presumptuous.

well the first thing that bugs me is that not only are celebs really endorsing Obama way too openly but now a fashion magazine is doing it too? gosh - now i have to wonder why Warner Brothers doesn't want to release the Mcain movie until after the election. it doesn't matter if someone seems to be on one side or another anymore

as for jinxing it - i am a FIRM believe that this is what they are doing. it's like tattooing someone's name on your body - you know that you're going to break up with them if you do that right?

the title is more tongue in cheek when you see the byline.

Interesting quote in the article from Jill about Michelle seeming cold..

I don't think Vogue is doing anyone favors by doing this. It makes Obama look bad.

Though the numbers point to the inevitable (yay!), I would not recommend putting anything like this on print. I'm not superstitious (so I don't think it's going to "jinx" anything) but would be more concerned for the reputation of the magazine. It would be horribly embarrassing for them if McCain/Palin are sworn in... oh hell, just in case, knock on wood they aren't!!!

Considering the fact that Vogue is a fashion magazine I think that any political piece can be considered op-ed. Vogue is not a "news" entity and is not under any obligation to report without bias. I think they have a right as an entity to express their political choice. And yes I would say the same thing if they did a piece on McCain or Palin. The fact that media exposure is imbalanced and there are more people in fashion and entertainment that are liberal or express liberal views is a construct of our society. I wouldn't rag on churches if larger percentage of them were McCain supporters and I consider churches to have a huge influence. Not liking something or agreeing is not a justification to shut it up.

I think that's because Americans need to calm down. Obama's not going to pimp out AirForce One. Obama's not the Anti-Christ. He's not BFF's with Terriorist? Everyone just needs to chill.

In fact it would be just another election for me except for the fact that (1) I truly believe in Obama -- not just the message of hope but I believe that he will be the one to get our country on track and (2) I REALLY don't like Palin.

There was also a story about Bush women (at least Laura and the twin that got married)...last year maybe? I love vogue. I get it when I fly and I read it with cheap red wine during my 2 hour flight to Chicago. Anyway, I've never read an article on a politician or a politician's wife that was not positive. Of course, they could have & I didn't see it, but they're just fluff pieces. The whole magazine is fluff.

I agree that we shouldn't say Obama has this won (it's not over til it's over), but I don't think the headline is that big of a deal. A story on the men in Palin's family wouldn't have been as interesting as Jill Biden's story. Although, I wish they did a story on Gov Palin. She has a nice wardrobe--especially shoes.

I think Obama's smiley-faced fascism is the only way to get this country back on track.

I've been completely indifferent to anything Vogue says ever since they stopped putting models on their covers and started being a high-end celebrity magazine.

SUCH a jinx...Deomcrats go out and vote..don't get a false sense of security and think its a sure deal.

I am very paranoid about this election. I hope the trend of racism playing a role in the difference of self reported polls and actual voting is over. It would be really sad if his lead didn't actually exist. I can't wait to vote, in Oregon all the voting is done by mail. So we should be getting our ballots soon.

I dont give a rip about how these magazines are jumping the gun, to me its just thinking of the future and not the present and we all need to have our minds in the here and now, including the candidates.
