Although cliches are, well, cliche, some of them ring true! I actually live my life by one particularly important one: treating others how I'd like to be treated — it's sort of like my mantra. Do you have any mantras that hold strong and true to you and your personal life? If so, do tell, what helps you be the person you are, or what enables you to make sense of it all?

ohm ah hum
1God lives through our actions
meaning, in our choice to be good human beings
2Dont sweat the small stuff.
that has gotten me through everything.
3LIVE LIFE HOLDING NO GRUDGES. THAT WAY YOU LIVE HAPPIER.
4Oh my god I LIVE by
5"Everything happens for a reason"
Mine is the one I use as a signature in most of my emails
"If you always do as you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten."
6believe half of what you see and nothing of what you hear
7this too shall pass
easier to say than to believe tho!
8Ummm... 'I do not like jail.'
9or 'What would grandma say/do?'
Mine is "Do the right things for the right reasons." I think if you follow that you'll end up where you're supposed to be.
That and "make good choices." That one always makes me laugh but it's true!
10I go by the "everything happens for a reason." I strongly believe in fate.
11"I am the master of my own destiny."
I'm the only one who has control over my own life.
12I try to go by the Golden Rule but that's easier said than done sometimes!
13Do unto others as you would have done to you - this is the biggest guideline for me and usually involves not judging people for the choices they make. I try to be supportive and positive and give quality advice but at the same time allow them the freedom to make their own choices and not judge when they do..
14Two things: Don't borrow trouble from tomorrow.
And Patience, Compassion, and Understanding - for yourself as well as others.
15missyd - me too! "everything happens for a reason!" i truly believe it...that was my grad quote in high school
and also, my mom used to tell me when i'd be really stressed because i had so much work and stuff to do: "don't worry, it will all get done" - and it always did!
also, my grandfather once told me while learning to drive: "pop the clutch and give'r" and i use that metaphor for more than driving standard transmission!
16My fav is: Be true to yourself
17The mantra I use most often is, "Breathe in love, exhale hate!"
18Everything happens for a reason.
19The Golden Rule.
Similar to Sc cutie, I try to operate with compassion, patience, and acceptance (especially when there's a lack of understanding
).
March to beat of my own drum. I know what's right for me, and I stay on my path.
20"god is always in it". that always helps me when things are bad, because I figure god is still there, so things must be happening for a reason. second one is "always be honest" unless it's just rude and not for a good reason. this forces me not to lie even when it's tempting and you wouldn't believe the number of circumstances where I've saved myself from a lot of drama. brutal honesty in all things is the key.
21then "nobody said it was easy". it's a coldplay lyric and it's perfect. because nothing ever comes easy, no one ever said it did, so stop whining and just do it
'Everything happens for a reason' is my main mantra. Oh and 'Karma is a b*tch' is my second favorite one
22My mantra of late is from a Leann Rimes song: "I will learn to accept what I cannot change. I will learn to forgive what I cannot change. I will learn to love what I cannot change." Based on the Serenity Prayer, but very helpful when you are going through a tough time.
23One that I actually discovered on this website..."If you have nothing to look forward to, you will always be looking behind you." Someone wrote that in the comments section and it is so incredibly true.
24if you had started doing it when you first thought about it you'd be done by now
25life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
26pretty much saved my life a few times..haha
Sooze, you nailed it! That's one for the ages.
Also (this may be a little geared toward Savvy Sugar), my dad always told me to "pay yourself first." Best financial advise I ever got -- basically, it means you should always throw a little money towards your retirement accounts and/or savings before paying off your bills. You got to protect your future!
27Oh, and I'm the nerd who thinks Dumbledore says it best: "It is not our abilities that show what we truly are. It is our choices."
28haha Deidre!! I loved that quote by Dumbledore!
I heard a quote a long time ago that has always stuck with me
29"regrets over yesterday and fears over tomorrow are twin thieves robbing us of the moment"
**my interpretation: Live for the moment
Don't know kind of weird that I always seek justice in things. When I see injustice, even for things that aren't necessarily relate to me, I all of a sudden become very passionate defending or lobbying against the opposing force. I am pretty good at it but it gets tiring for a while. Time for a new mantras, I suppose.
30"There is no starting or stopping just doing."
31k8 rckstr that would have been my quote or maybe the phrase "Let's just wing it and see what happens". It has made life interesting and has taught me things I never knew about myself, like my ability to smile and just about get away with blue murder in a foreign country.
32Feel great, act great and approve yourself
33good girls go far.
sweet and simple
34"if others can do it, why help them?" kidding.
seriously, i just go by "you are responsible for your own feelings".. don't blame anybody for making you feel happy, bad, angry, frustrated, or whatever. You take full responsibility for your own life and that includes your feelings. This has saved me a lot of times from havin a crappy day.
35What is for you won't go by you!
36"Everything happens for a reason."
37It's gotten me through a whole lot of bad times.
If you think abt it, you can always find a reason for something that happend, whether it had been good or bad.
I usually use this mantra in my bad situations though :}
