911 was originally established for emergency purposes only, but has curiously emerged as the newest dating service, complaint hotline, and...comedy club? Oh yes, where else would an amateur comedian (I mean, "operator") find a more alert and captive audience to screen his new jokes? This "audience" probably laughs so hard, they cry! Oy vey.

I remember that being in the news!! I kind of feel sorry for the 911 guy, I mean he deals with serious calls all day and then someone calls up with a parenting issue that really shouldn't require police intervention.
1You guys wouldn't believe how many of those type of calls really happen. And not just parenting issues (I remember asking someone if they wanted me to come raise their child FOR them because she'd called soooo much over stupid things.) ... it's everything. 911 is for emergencies ONLY ... we're not your personal 411 directory ... we don't know/care when places open/close ... and we're not the officer's voicemail. Call the non-emergency number for that. K? Thanks. OH ... and if you call by accident, please stay on the line and let the operator KNOW that. Even if you hang up, for safety purposes, the call completes to the 911 center so that we can check/send someone out if the bad guy just cut your phone lines or whatever. Rant aside ... I do get a giggle here and there with some calls that come in. And for those that like to get it on in the car ... be sure the phone's safely out of reach.
2Either way 911 is meant for emergencies. She called with her "emergency" and he should have treated it that way. I would have been upset also.
3Wow, that wasn't funny at all.
4Whoa. That was kind of mean to say though. I mean O.K, some complaints are for a good reason but that lady should just go on the Maury show or something.
5OH, sorry ... I totally didn't realize I forgot to comment about that operator, I was worried my reply was getting lengthy ... he DID get in trouble. We learned about it in one of my classes at the Criminal Justice Academy. He's sorta a "What not to say/do" example. (My comment to that woman was totally unacceptable, too, and I did make an apology.)
