Is this just a ploy by single straight dudes to get girlfriends, or are there really cute guys like Adam Fulrath, over there with Parappa, who claims his cat is his "primary relationship"? According to this New York Times article, men (straight men, even!) are coming out of the cat closet and admitting that, yes, real men do love cats. Says one male cat-lover, dogs are for dudes who need wingmen. “If you’re feeling insecure about your space in the world, you get a dog because he will always back you up,” he said. “He’s the insecure man’s best friend.” Haha! Where are these fabled cat men? I need me one.

1cat man...right here. Its a blessing in disguise though. The only reason we get cats is cuz we dont have to take care of em or crap em. Cat Men = Lazy. Dog Guys = insecurity issues.

3We can come out of the closet! For me it's not the maintenance issues with cats, they still need to be groomed and cleaned after and fed. But cats don't slobber. And they have a sense of independence that dogs don't have. Plus, when you talk to a dog there's a sense that it has no friggin' idea what you're saying. When you talk to a cat there a sense that it totally gets you but is really indifferent because all you talk about is petty things that have no real significance. You could tell that it quietly judges you and it actually tells you, but the meows get misinterpreted as silly cat noises. Yeah, cats are awesome.
