Family traditions are a wonderful and unique way to tell stories of generations past. For those of you who are married or engaged, thank you for sharing your wedding day traditions, but as we all know, family traditions come in all forms. Whether it's your great grandmother's secret recipe or how you spend the holidays, do tell, what is your favorite family tradition?

Mine is our ritual for Christmas Eve. We put up the tree, the house is a chaotic mess, but we all sit down at 6:00 p.m. with nibbles and drinks, toast each other and then exchange small, silly gifts.
1I'd have to say the summer tradition of getting drunk, playing scrabble and taking a picture of the board on a digital camera. Then the next day, we try to figure out what everyone was trying to spell.
"Party like a rock star, pound like a porn star, play like an all star!"
2Christmas Eve is spent with my in laws and we make the same meal that they have had every year before DH was even born (his paternal side tradition). WE get together, stuff ourselves silly and make a yummy cioppino. The next day, we spend with my family and have lobster. lots f seafood, but sooo good
3My favourite family tradition, although it hasn't always been, is our ritual Saturday hot pot! For those of you who don't know what hot pot is, it's kind of like a Chinese fondue, with a variety of different meat and vegetables cooked in a simmering broth in front of you, so you can add whatever you'd like. It always makes me feel closer to my family and now that I'm more than 3,000 miles away from them, I miss the tradition thismuchmore.
4I have a cuple...Every Easter my mom makes a bunny cake.
Every Christams we listen to John Denver and the Muppets, over and over, while we decorate the tree. Dad assembles the tree and lights and the girls decorate. And my birthday...i go to water country usa with my sis and boyf and then meet my parents at my fav seafood restaurant, Captain Georges...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Why don't you wear the face you have when I am not around?
Definitely big family dinners...for every occasion! Lots of food, lots of laughing and reminiscing.
6we eat thanksgiving by christmas light. i like A LOT of christmas lights inside and out and figure that if i am going to the trouble to put them up; i want maximum use out of them. so wednesday night i stay up until we have lights everywhere (tiny village, tree, etc) and then when we sit down to thanksgiving dinner i turn out all the other lights and we eat by those lights. sets the holiday mood for me. dh is just now coming around to this, but the girls have alwasy loved it.
